Jake watched as Avery went back into her zone, she knew just what she was doing. And it made him happy to know that Haden was in her hands. The faith he had in her, out weighed any worry he had. He nodded when she gave him directions, knowing he could manage that. And as she lifted the shirt he did as instructed. And as the fur slowly started to fall off he watched as it mixed with bloody water, before hitting the floor. He would be thankful once this was over. Not for just him, but everyone was waiting with bated breath.

Laney whimpered as they shirt pulled back and blood trickled down his fur. She closed her eyes and pressed her forehead back to his. You're doing so good baby. She knew he didn't want to hear that, the pain he was in must be too much for him. Let it out if you have to. No one would blame him for screaming, after all if it was any of them not a single damn one would give a shit.

Avery started to slowly and carefully cut away the fur by the wound. Jake's steady hand with he water made it easier for her to figure out where she was suppose to be cutting but still with an old blade and unfamiliar biology she was having a hard time. She went through on both sides trying not to wince every time she made Haden yelp. She knew he was holding back for her because it had to hurt with his broken ribs so close to the site. Once she finished she had Laney put her hands back not he clean cloth on his wound. She cleaned herself off of fur and blood then ran the surgical string through the hook. She looked at it and ran alcohol over it all. Avery knew Haden would scar but she was going to try and make it as simple as she could. She had seen though that she would have to do another smaller suture after the long one to keep it closed. Avery was trying to give Haden time to rest before the real pain started. She was going to have to take already sensitive skin and bring it together.

Haden tried concentrating on Laney and his breathing. He tried not to laugh at what she said. He knew she meant well but he knew this wasn't even the hard part yet. Haden yelped as Avery accidentally caught some skin in with the fur. He could only guess that it was a mess if she could hardly tell what was skin or fur. Haden wished her had his hands to ball into fists but all he could do was bare his teeth and breath heavily with a soft growl in his voice. It wasn't meant for anyone just a display of his pain.Haden licked his teeth and his dry nose. He was thankful when Avery instructed Laney to put the pressure back on. He wished that wasn't the best kind of pain. He closed his eyes resting into the table listening to Avery set up her other tools for the rest of the process.

Jake stepped back as the last of the fur fell, he looked over the wound before they covered it. He knew that Haden was in for a bit of a ruff road. He how ever knew that Laney and Avery had this. Haden wouldn't be happy once all this was said and done, but he'd be alive.

Laney wanted to give him something to bite down on, but he'd snap anything with his jaws. And as he growled she felt her blood boil. She just wished this was all over. She wanted her mate in her arms sleeping soundly. Letting all of this be a bad nightmare. But she knew she wasn't that lucky. But she could sure wish.

Avery sighed. "Alright Haden try to stay still this is going to hurt but I hope to get it done quickly. I have two sutures to make." she said and pet his ear then she took the string and the hook and uncovered the wound. "Keep it clean Jake." she said and they began the process. Avery worked as quickly as she could running the thick string through his skin. She got to the first end and tied it off snipping it then started on the smaller one. Haden howled on this one. she knew he was almost at his breaking point. It was a long sad howl and even she didn't need a translation for it. Once she tied the second one off she took a deep breath. "Okay Haden this is going to sting." she said and poured alcohol over it. He growled and snapped but didn't move. Avery put a clean cloth around it and prayed that it wouldn't get infected. "Okay. That is all we can do. The ribs will have to heal on their own. In the mean time make sure to take good breaths not shallow ones because it hurts, no running, no hunting and no shifting. I think with your accelerated healing it should only take a week maybe two at the most. We can take the stitches out in a couple days. But you're in luck you're on doctor ordered bed rest." she chuckled and started cleaning up. "Laney he needs food and water to help his body restore those blood cells. He's gonna be dizzy and a little weak until the blood count is back up to normal. Should take no more than an hour for him. "Jake will you carry him to bed?" She asked him because she knew that to Haden Jake was the only one he could confide in and being carried was a sign of weakness for him but she didn't want him to pop a stitch. "I will come check on you in the morning."

Haden panted once it was all done. He listened to Avery talk and realized he did feel like the world was spinning just a little to fast. He hoped she was right about all of this. He was hungry and thirsty but it would have to wait until he could sooth his mate. She might be relieved it was over but everyone's emotions where pretty on edge. He turned his head and licked Avery's hand. She smiled at him and took care of everything. She was a very amazing woman he was glad to call his sister... maybe through default but he considered Avery his sister too. He was proud of her knowing that hadn't been easy. Once he was back in his bed and was given food and water he yawned. Before he had purposefully turned into his wolf state to get Laney use to it now he was forced to do so and he was nervous how she would react.

Jake smiled at his mate, before placing as kiss to her temple. She was still in her doctor's mode. When she asked him to carry Haden he nodded, "I'll get on that." He told her, before tipping her chin up to him, letting his lips capturing hers. "Thank you." He whispered out, knowing that she understood why. Moving over to Haden he walked up behind him, "alright buddy here we go." He told him sliding his hands under the wolf, lifting him. Then quickly carried him off to his room. "Laney will be here soon with food and water." He told him, before leaving. He felt that it was best to do so, after all when he was hurt all he wanted was his mate. So he knew that now would be the time for that. Plus he was acking to see his mate.

Laney let out a sigh, relief flooding over her. She smiled and nodded at his sister. Watching as Jake lifted Haden effortlessly. She leaned over placing as kiss to his forehead, love you, be back shortly. She then headed out to the camp fire, noticing the group. She offered them the best smile she could. Giving them and up date while grabbing Haden food. And a bowl for water. She stopped briefly as questions were asked, "we'll discuss this later." She looked at at Leo, "you up for patrol?" She asked, watching him nod. "I'll send Jake out to relieve you." She said, knowing that with Haden down she'd have to step up. It was her or let them fend for themselves. And while she wasn't a part of the pack they'd listen to her for Haden's sake. Heading back to him she pasted Jake, "you'll be taking over for Leo at Dusk." She informed him. Knowing that the working of camp doesn't stop.

Avery nodded. "Thanks." she said and set the towel on the table. Jake stopped her and tipped her chin to him. she looked at him her emotions running wold with her love and admiration for him. She looked in his eyes like he held her world because he did. She smiled softly and then kissed him back her mind clouding with desire and love for Jake. As he pulled back she gave him a goofy grin and nodded absently as he thanked her. She wasn't entirely sure what for at the moment but she was sure it had to do with either her adaptability with his wolf or Haden. Either way it worked for her. She watched Jake take Haden home and stopped Laney a moment hugging her. "You're both going to be okay." she whispered to her and kissed her cheek then let her go so she could take care of her mate. Avery sighed and looked around the kitchen then started cleaning up. Avery felt different, like she was more than herself. As she cleaned she thought about Jake wondering how much she had changed and what that changed her for and Jake. She knew it would only bring them closer but she wondered how. After everything was cleaned up she wondered if she should go and tell the pack the news. Avery wanted to wait for Jake though.

Haden laid there in bed listening to the thoughts of his pack. Laney would be a good alpha if she decided to join their pack. He really hoped she would. Jake had been suffering for to long as second in command. And with his new mate it was to much to ask of him. So he was glad his pack listened to his mate even if a little begrudgingly on some accounts. Haden looked up as Laney stepped into the room and he watched her as she came over to him. He pressed his head into her hand then dropped his head tot he water bowl she set near him. He nearly sighed feeling he cool water sooth away some of the discomfort he had been feeling though his side was killing him he would live and it was thanks to Avery and Laney and his pack. All had played an invaluable role in taking care of him. He would need to find a way to treat them all to some fun. They didn't have nearly enough of it recently and he wanted to do it not only to thank them but to increase their moral. They where all tired and a little roughed up but he had to find a way to make it happen.

Once Jake finished he headed back to Avery, passing Laney he was shocked at the order she barked at him. Blinking he just nodded knowing she was dealing with a lot. Heading back to where he left Avery he smiled seeing she was cleaning. Walking up to her he placed his hand on her hips. Feeling her jump. "What's the matter precious, did I scare you?" He asked her, before turning her to face him. His hands sliding along her arms, leaning in he pressed his lips to hers. He was well aware of the want that was building in the two of them. He could see it in her eyes. "Have I told you how much I love you?" He asked her breaking their kiss, before letting his lips trail down her neck. Laney entered the room, setting down the food and water down next to the bed. She smiled at the feel of his head against her hand. She closed her eyes as she laid her head down on his shoulder. She didn't know what else she could do. His wound was in a vulnerable spot so cuddling him would only cause more harm then do her good. Haden sighed and then sat back as he finished eating and drinking. He laid his head in Laney's lap and wondered if how his wolf side still bothered her so much like it use to.

"I am not sure why your wolf side won't join the pack but I am working to make your wolf see that my pack is the best place. Lone wolves often get hurt and go crazy easier than those in a pack because they do not have that support to talk to and work with and rely on. Despite how the pack acts I know in times like this no matter what that I can depend on them. Haden looked up at her hoping he was making sense to her and it helped her understand.

"Mmm tell me at least we are on the roster for a bath?" she asked wanting to bathe and refresh after the night they had. Avery smiled up at Jake and ran her fingers over the lines on this shoulders and chest.

Haden nodded gently and looked up at her with gentle eyes. He was glad to hear that honestly because it meant everything to him to know that despite this all they where strong together. Haden sighed. It was so much easier around Laney in his human form. She seemed to be opening up to him like this though. Perhaps his silence was a good thing. Haden did not know how to be quiet a lot of the time. He was always talking and thinking and mixing things but but this way he was forced into silence the only thoughts they could share where hard and yet could only hold truth. Perhaps she felt that as well.
