Haden sighed. "Do you think you could convince Avery not to go? She seems to get ideas into her head and she doesn't back down. Maybe I am wrong but I think to let go she has to do this." Haden looked at Jake seeing how nervous he was. "Hey relax Jake I know you can take care of Avery no matter what it takes. Now you need to believe it yourself. Maybe with just the two of you the journey will take longer and you can start to believe that yourself."

Avery looked at her sister and nodded. "You know I am always with you. And we come back to each other." she said nervously and Chip glanced at her then Laney looking displeased. Luke sent him to make sure they came back. Avery smiled gently. "You stay with Haden... He is a good man and I will find you." she said kissing her cheek then helping Chip out the door seeing Haden hand Jake a gun. She swallowed and looked down. "Umm we should go before we loose the light." she said talking about the sun but she was upset obviously.

Jake frowned hearing Haden's words, she had spread made up her mind. She wouldn't back down, and he hoped that she would at least consider coming back with him. He didn't think he'd make it of she refused, he needed to be near her to convince.her to come back. But the way she spoke to her sister its as if she didn't plan on coming back for a while.

Laney watched as her sister supported Chip, offering her a small smile. "Stay safe." She told her giving her a hug. Before she turned to Chip, glaring. "If anything happens to her or someone so much as lays a finger on her I'll gut you." She growled out, watching as the fear ran through him. He knew she was capable of doing it. "And." She leaned forward close to his ear. "Tell Luke if he touches her I'll finish what I started." She whispered to him, before patting him on the shoulder. "Have a safe trip."

Haden smiled as Avery came out watching him give Jake the gun just in case. He turned to Avery and messed up her hair by rubbing the top of her head. "Make sure he make it safe ya?" he asked her and she nodded. She was just as much responsible for Jake as Jake was for her and he knew that would bring her back. Haden then went and stood by Laney and slowly put a hand on her shoulder to comfort her. He let it drop after a little while and he smiled at her. "She'll be back." he said softly knowing she was frightened of not seeing her sister again. "Are you wanting to say here tonight or go to my camp?" he asked talking about her meeting the group was scary. What if she didn't like them and didn't feel safe? No he could;t think like that of course she would.

Avery smiled and looked up at Jake as he took Chip from her and she thanked him needing the space because the tears were coming again. She headed out into the fresh air taking the bag Haden had packed for Jake. She wasn't going to let him carry Chip and the bag. She got outside and took a deep breath shaking a little bit. Honestly she was afraid they would't let her leave. And Avery was not about to let anyone get hurt for her. She wouldn't let Jake use that gun she would stop him. Avery looked up as he came down and joined her. There had to be a better way of moving Chip than to carry him. She looked do sad as she pushed tears off her cheeks and looked away.

Laney shuddered feeling Haden's hand on her, she couldn't bother with thinking about it. Her body reacting to him wasn't something she expected, but her mind was far away from that. "If anything happens to her I'm going to kill him." She said threw grit teeth, she knew that it wasn't safe for her to go. But she couldn't protect her for ever, and now her sister had to learn to grow up, and sometimes letting people like Chip carry themselves is better in the long run. She knew her sister wouldn't understand anything she had to tell her about Luke, but she hoped she would never have the burden of knowing.

Jake frowned as he lugged Chip along. He knew the man was purposely leaning on him more than he needed. And he was well aware of what his intentions were, but the thing he didn't know was since Jake was a wolf his strength was more than any human could bare. And the added weight wasn't anything, Jake could run from the hotel to their camp carrying Chip in his arms and not break a sweat. But he had to play the part of a human, "you know it'll be okay." He informed her, "you'll see her before you know it." He smiled over at Avery, it broke his heart to see her crying. And he knew there was nothing he could do but watch, and that in its self was agonizing.

Haden smiled softly. "I'll help you." he said softly knowing he would be more than pissed if someone hurt Avery. Already she was more like a sister than he had realized. He hoped Jake would be safe and take care of Avery. Haden tired to Laney and sighed. "We'll stay here for tonight." he said softly though they really needed to leave after that. Haden didn't want to be around when that group tried to come after Laney and from the sound of it at least one man would.

Avery smiled sadly at Jake. "I know." she said and sighed. She wanted to be back with her sister already but this was a journey she had to make. Avery put a hand to her chest. Something was hidden there beneath the shirt and as of yet she had yet to share what it was. Avery walked with Jake seeing Chip leaning on his. "Just let me know if you need a break okay?" she said to Jake. Avery was here to help and anything he needed she would help him with. After all he hardly knew her and he was doing this huge thing for her despite the dangers.

Laney looked up at him, a soft smile played on her lips. "Sorry, I didn't mean to ignore you." She told him, but at least she was glad she had stay. Even if it was breaking her inside to know the danger out there for her sister. Averting her eyes from him she moved to the couch closets to her. Plopping down on it she groaned out rubbing her face. She hated it when she was apart from her sister, and she wondered if this was what it felt like for Avery everytime she left the camp. It was worrisome and draining. She knew she should have packed up and left, but she didn't think she'd be able to make it very far.

Jake rolled his eyes at her comment, "that goes for you too princess." He chuckled out, raising a brow when he noticed her cheeks blush. And earning a scoff from Chips, though it pissed him off he smirked over at the man. "What are you scoffing about, I was talking to you." He chuckled out, knowing it would piss the man off. Which would only satisfy him for a little bit, he hated that Chip was listening to them talk. He'd never be able to convince her to be with him and not her group.

Haden smiled. "No it is okay. You are worried for Avery but that is why I sent Jake with her. He will take care of her just as you would." he said and sat down across from her. "Avery is strong anyways and she must have gotten it from you. Though she wears her heart on her sleeves she knows how to defend it." he said hoping to make her feel confident in letting her sister go. She would be back, if not tomorrow than within the days to come.

Avery blushed and giggled when he called her princess. The way he looked at her sometimes made her feel something special but she could't out it to words. Avery rolled her eyes at Chip but laughed when Jake made a joke. She shook her head and smiled. Jake was a relief to have with her. She knew if Jake was there she would be safe though she did;t know how she knew it. Somehow though she had instantly trusted Jake and she liked him... a lot. Avery walked a while and then stopped everyone for a drink break. They set Chip down and wondered out of his range of hearing sitting on a log to talk.

Laney looked at Haden, before trying her best to smile. "That's what I'm worried about. If somebody hurt her, I don't think she ever recuperated." She frowned, "it's hard, and it changes people." She told him, knowing that he might not understand the true meaning behind her words but he'd get the jist. "I don't think I'd forgive myself if she had to go through that." She shook her head, before wrapping her arms around her, as if to get warm.

Jake smiled once he dropped Chips down on his ass. Moving over to a log he pulled out his canteen, taking a drink from it. His eyes lit up when Avery sat down beside him. "So tell me, why is it so important to you that he gets back safely?" He questioned her, before he gasped out. "You like him don't you." He teased before laughing out, knowing she didn't feel anything for Chip.

Haden flinched at her words and nodded. He moved over to her side and put a hand on her back but was careful to place it in a safe spot no questions. "I hear you and I am saying Jake would never let that happen." he soothed and then touched her cheek moving her face to look at him. "Trust me Laney she is safe with Jake. Probably safer than with you, and you are safer for not having to protect her anymore." he said and smiled sadly. "Now come on don't worry okay?" he said softly and rubbed between her shoulders his hand on her face dropping to his knee.

Avery smiled sitting close to Jake. She saw about to answer when he made a gasp. She laughed and shook her head giving him a look that said 'Don't be stupid.' Avery took a drink of her water. "Noo." she chuckled. "I just... In this world were people are more likely to do things only for themselves because helping others is dangerous... I don;t want that to be me. I never want to give up on people so much that I leave them to die or to struggle on their own because then that just proves them right. Instead I want to prove them wrong and help people even though it is not what is best or easy for me. I want to keep my morals even in a time like this because maybe one day what good I did will be repaid to me." she said. Avery blushed and looked at Jake. "You think it's stupid huh?" she asked nervously.

Laney bit her lip, be for smiling at him. "Thank you." She wasn't used to men being so kind. In fact she felt safer with him then any of the guys she'd have ever been with. Turning her attention back to her hands she sighed. Nibbling on her lip as she feeling the tingling sensation his fingers left behind as he gently rubbed. "So how far is your camp from here?" She questioned him, trying to pull her mind away from her sister being out there.

Jake bit his lip and looked down. "No I understand what you mean." He told her looking up at her. "I mean I'm right here, instead of back at my camp." He told her, granted the situation is quite different. His connection to her was strong because of the mating process. And he didn't want to help Chips but because she was in danger doing so he was going to protect her at all cost. Though he really didn't want her to know he'd rather put a bullet in his head instead.

Haden nodded. "Anytime." he said and he really meant it. He watched her and tried not to stare at the same time. He looked at the ground his hand still tingling from touching her but he had had to pull away. Haden looked up as she asked her question. He looked at her and smiled. "About half a day from here into the woods. "We have a cabin out there with running water... well a little river. It's pretty nice and we each have a tent well except for me and Jake we usually sleep inside. You know cause the unmarried thing." he said chuckling. If Laney and Avery joined them they would have to move somewhere else where they could fit them all. Maybe they could come back to thistle. It wasn't to bad to carry water from here.

Avery smiled and nodded. "Thanks Jake." she said. She thought about kissing him on the cheek and she leaned forward an inch before standing to stop herself. She blushed and took another long swig of her drink then went back to the bag. "My turn to help Chip for a while yeah?" she asked her voice fluttering slightly before she looked back at Jake and smiled softly. He was so easy to be around, so easy to want to be with and yet she couldn't. But why not? She had no idea.

Laney bit her lip she hadn't thought about sleeping arrangements. She figured there would have to be some changes made. But she didn't even bother to ask, and that was the problem she didn't know anything about these people. But knew she could trust them since she felt safe with Haden. "Oh, so you mention early that their were six of you." She said to him. "You, Jake and Char." She stated hoping he'd filling the blank and tell her more about them.

Jake frowned when Avery stood, he didn't want to stop talking. But he knew they needed to get this trip over. Standing he shoved his canteen back into his bag before glaring at Chip. He knew if the bastrad leaned on her like he had him then she'd be tired when they got there. "How about I take him." He said, before taking Chip from her. He wasn't about to let her argue either. He started walking, "alright come on slow poke." He teased her.

Haden smiled. "Yep Me, Jake, Char and Kyle, Penny and Leo." he said hoping she would like the pack. He still had to warn them that he was bringing a human. "They are kind privet at first but once they get to know you they will open up." he said and smiled softly.

Avery smiled as Jake took Chip. He really wanted to be sure she was alright and he wanted to take care of her. Only Laney had ever done that for her before. She grabbed the bag and ran to catch up with him. "Oh shush!" Avery said and giggled walking on the side Chip was not on.

Laney smiled she bit her lip to try and hide it. She wasn't sure about meeting new people but since she didn't have a choice it was happening. Stretching her body she sighed before relaxing back onto into the couch. "So do you guys travel a lot?" She questioned, she knew that was asking a lot of them lately. But she was fixing to be pulled into his group so they really had no choice in the matter, but to get to know each other.

Jake smiled over at Avery, "don't fall." He warned her as she ran to catch up. If that happened Chip would be walking on his own. He didn't care if she was hurt or not, he'd be carrying her. And for all he could care Chip would even up being left behind. The thought was appeasing.

Haden grinned. "Well not recently. Cause of Char but yeah we move on when we use up the local resources." he said. Haden smiled and ran a hand through his hair. "Why?" he asked wondering why she wanted to know if they moved a lot. Was it bad if they did? They didn't have to.

Avery laughed. "I am not a klutz." she said and chuckled. "I am good at running anyways." she said and bit her lip. She regained that she had been doing it her whole life. Avery laughed and took his hand for a moment. "Trust me." she whispered then let go of his hand. For some reason she wanted to hold his hand.

Laney shook her head, smiling softly. "Oh no I was just wondering." She told him, there was times she got attached to the places they stayed at but. She really hoped Avery would be coming back with Jake. Because once Char was healed she had a feeling they would be moving along. And she wouldn't want to move to far from her sister. But she wouldn't tell him that. "Uh so." She said not knowing what else to talk about.

Jake smiled when he felt her take his hand, feeling completely happy. "Oh sure." He smirked at her, a mocking tone laced his words. Though he did trust her, he couldn't tell her that straight because he knew she wouldn't believe him. Also he was tired of Chip's remarks about how pathetic he was for trying. Though Avery might not have heard him, Jakes hearing allowed him to make out the mans mumbled words.

Haden smiled and nodded. He knew Avery would come back with Jake. She wouldn't want to be without her sister in a dangerous place. He smiled and stood. "Don't you worry we care about what out group says and we will listen to you Laney. You get a say now." he soothed and smiled. "So do you want to go for a walk or something? We do need to get some caned food if we can find any and I know some great places to look." he said.

Avery smiled at Jake and laughed. "Oh you know you trust me." she teased back and skipped ahead picking up a flower and putting it in her hair. She braided her hair easily as she walked and looked around her like the world was still so amazing and she didn't want to miss a thing. She had no idea what Chip was doing but she was glad to be with Jake in nature.

Laney smiled at him before standing up. She stretched, before shrugging. "We can do what ever." She told him, though the words she said she regretted, since it was almost like it was an open invitation. Biting her lip she hoped he take that as she was up to anything that wasn't sexual.

Jake smiled watching her move around, slightly shaking his head. He loved how she still remained so innocent, yet was strong willed. "You're barking up the wrong tree." Chips voice rang out. "She's Luke's." He chuckled. Jake grit his teeth before he let go of Chip, bumping him with his shoulder. Watching as he fell. "Oh shit." He said before leaning over and acting like he was concerned. "She doesn't belong to anyone." He growled out hovering over the other male, glaring down at him. He could see the fear in Chip's eyes, but he didn't back off. "And you so much threaten her again like that, and I'll rip your fucking head off." His voice held venom at seeped into his words. "And Luke doesn't have her heart, so I don't see that happening."

Haden smiled. He saw her look nervous and he rubbed the back of his neck blushing. "Umm can hunting it is then..." he said and looked away grabbing another bag. He moved over to her and took her hand. "I don't know if I told you but you don;t have to do anything you don't want to do Laney. I mean it and I am never going to put you in a situation were you feel you need to... or at least I will do my best." he said and held up two fingers. "South honor." he winked and smiled letting her go and smoldering the bag. "Follow me!" he said smiling and heading out the door.

Avery looked back hearing Chip cry out. She moved over to them. "Are you alright?" she asked looking between the two men. "I think we need another break." she said realizing they were already nearly half way there anyways. "Are you hungry?" she asked and sat down in the grass frowning as she looked between the two men again. She knew if Jake liked her Chip would notice and he knew Luke's claim. Luke had told her before that she was his and he would convince her of that. But she was scared of Luke. Something wasn't right with him and her sister confirmed it.

Laney felt her hand tingling and the closeness of Haden made her mind hazy. Wanting to lean in and press her lips to his, she smiled coming down when he made a joke about scouts honor. "Okay." She said shaking her head following him out the door. "But something tells me you were never a scout." She chuckled, before walking into step with him.

Jake smiled at her, "yeah, hungry." He told her, sending Chip a quick glare. He knew that they were getting agataited with each other and she could tell. And Jake didn't like that he was that noticeable to her, though he figured that it was all about the mating process. But he would kill Chip right now if it wasn't for her. His hands were bound because he'd never do anything to hurt her.
