Dr. Daniel WooDaniel scrunched up his nose as he dispensed a squirt of hand sanitizer onto his awaiting palm. He pushed the bottle back into his starched labcoat breast pocket before taking a tentative step off the four wheeled contraption.
What was he doing here? He had paperwork to scrutinize, instead he was tromping around Morris' god forsaken forest, behind Adventure Barbie.
"If this is his base of operations, as you claim, he no doubt would have added security cameras, I see no reason to hide what we are doing as we most likely are being recorded already... Morris has given no express orders to stay clear of the abandoned buildings the last tenants left on the island, so we have no reason to hide. While a walk would be stimulating to the senses, we have a meeting to prepare for and should not waste time needlessly trying to cover our tracks." Doctor Woo objected finding his surroundings a little too primitive for his liking. Cringing the older Taiwanese man glared and ducked as a buzzing insect of some disgusting variety went past his left shoulder. His hand instinctively reaching towards his breast pocket again as if this required some sort of sanitation. He had never been much into nature, the idea of being in the woods much longer made him feel unnerved.
Of course he wanted to see what Eric was hiding as much as the next person, but he would rather do that from the safety of his own desk. If Amy had not asked it of him, that's exactly where he would have been at the moment. Eager to hear news of Eric's activities outside of his laboratory but not so much willing to leave the school grounds to figure it out himself. Daniel was not opposed to exercise, and fresh air was of great importance in keeping his students healthy, but he prefered to partake in each from the comfort of his living room. The closest he'd ever come to a nature walk was on his treadmill while watching Animal Planet.
Nadine was smart, she would have to be to gain his wife's favor, but she was still young and a little too adventurous for his own taste. It was all well and good if she wanted to play Wilderness Barbie, but he had important work which required attention, (as did she!) and they needed to go about this with the assumption that they were in the right, sneaking about was not necessary. Morris would be more than angered to find out about what Eric had been doing if not under his instruction at the time... Something Daniel would not put past him, Morris had given him his own list of private endeavors in the past. They were small projects, carried out quickly and then once finished briefed to his partners, but secrets at the time. He couldn't help but wonder though how big this was. How long Eric had been hiding this from them, whatever it was that he was hiding.
