Welcome to The Graphic Help Thread!So.. I always get messages asking for help and what not, so I was thinking if I should make a graphic help thread in the Graphics Shop, and with agreements from other Mibbian's I went ahead and made this. This thread is for help on how to do this and that (with graphics/layouts), maybe you want to learn how to make a border around text in GIMP, or how to use a pattern in Photoshop, etc. just post your question here and another Mibbian will help you in any way they can! Whether it'd be step-by-step explanation in their own words, or links to helpful tutorials.

Banner made by Playboy; and found in the post your most recent creation forum.
I was just wondering how you can make the words gradient like they have used on the title. Like on the top it's more white and on the bottom it's a little grayer. I use GIMP and was wondering if there was any way to do that.

(I hope this is in the right thread)

To get a gradient text in GIMP:

    1. First, get your text ready to go and once that's done, select all and right click and choose "Right Path from Text". Next go to the toolbar and Select > From Path, and your text should be selected all around.

    2. Go to Select > Feather, and a setting will pop-up, choose 2.000 or 1.000. Click OK, and it should still be selected. This is needed only if the third step makes the text have sharp edges.

    3. Click on the gradient tool (in the tool box), pick the one you want or get a new color, and then hover over the text and click+hold the text and go bottom to top or top to bottom and then let go! And it should work! You can also create a new raster layer and use the gradient on it while still selected (instead of the original text layer) if you want!

So this isn't related to graphics entirely but I have seen this in many shops and I really wanted to learn how to do this.

I took this screenshot from Allie's Layout Shop and I've seen this in many other shops, so I was wondering how do people make this little text book which allows us to see any bb code?

I can help ya with that! If you use the [*bbcode][/bbcode*] code (without the asterisks), it keeps things from turning into a link.

So losing control. because [url=http://www.mibba.com/Member/135907/]losing control.[/url] Cute

Not sure if this is the place to ask this, so sorry if I'm in the wrong place! But I was wondering how I could the background image behind the banner/picture to be away from the top of the page? And how to have two images in the 'page' section? (I'm just assuming that's what was done here) Like in this layout (by dawn of light)

    Image

I've tried everything I can think of and I can't figure out how to do it! Any help would be appreciated :)

I do believe you go to content and go to box then its in the margin and its the one labeled top it should slide the whole content box up and down.

    @ Playboy;
I think I've tried that and if I remember correctly, that only moves the banner down. What I'm asking is how to get the background image (under the 'page' tab) to move down. Whenever I try it always stays touching the status bar. Sorry if my previous post didn't make that clear.

Like how there is a big space between the status bar and the whole content box? Yeah, it's just content > box > margin-top, just put it to 70+ maybe?

Usually when I make a layout and I want it to look fancy, I put a background image under the page tab and set it just repeat Y. But it always touches the status bar (and the bottom of the page too I'm sure, I just never checked) and I haven't been able to figure out how to move it down like in the picture I posted. But I'm gonna try what you suggested and hopefully that'll work.

How do you get rid of the numbers on your chapter-section?

I don't want it to say:
    1.
    2.
    3.

    but just the chapter titles.

    Can anyone help me?
