Izaya snorted and waved a dismissive hand.

"Wrong as in you're plotting something," Izaya corrected her. "But that's a curious notion. Have I implied I dislike people caring for me? I have parents, after all. Isn't that what they do?"

"I don't think the fact that they're parents matters," Kumiko pointed out before she brought Izaya's ramen to him. "You did say that my father could have sent that man to kill me, after all."

Izaya sat up to take the food from Kumiko, shrugging a shoulder.

"Different parents, different things," he said dismissively. "Mine care for me by staying out my way, perhaps your's has different takes on the matter. Did your mother care for you?"

Kumiko let out a dramatic sigh, as if she hadn't expected a question like that. Maybe she should have kept her mouth shut. His questions were a little difficult to answer at times.

"Yeah, she did," she told him, "She was there when I needed her. She took care of me."

"Sounds like a reasonable parents," Izaya hummed round a mouthful of noodles. "Do you know if there was a specific reason why she was targeted? Must have been more than just being married to your father."

"I assume it's because she was important to my father," Kumiko offered as an explanation, though she wasn't sure. Shrugging, she ate some of her own noodles, moving to sit down. "I don't know. Maybe some deal went wrong, he might have done something he shouldn't have, and it could have been for revenge or something. I really don't know how all of that works."

"And you're not the least bit curious?" Izaya inquired, tilting his head and looking at her curiously. "Perhaps that's where the lack of imagination stems from, hn?"

"What's the point in being curious about it when it could get me killed?" Kumiko asked casually, quirking a brow as she glanced sideways at him. "Not all of us have death wishes, Izaya."

Shrugging, she settled her gaze back on her ramen, sighing quietly. "Besides, what good would it do for me? Even if I knew what happened, it still happened and I wouldn't be able to fix it."

"And what if not being curious got you killed?" Izaya asked. "There have been more in depth conspiracy theories over less."

"How about I just leave the curiosity to you?" Kumiko suggested as she finished her food and stood up to go wash the bowl.

"How about you stop being boring ," Izaya shot back with a snort. He got to his feet and followed her to the sink to wash his own things.

Kumiko rolled her eyes slightly in response. "Maybe I'll stop being boring when I find somebody who's interesting enough," she drawled out.

"And you're planning on finding someone interesting by being boring... How, exactly?" Izaya raised a brow, gentle nudging Kumiko out the way to get to the sink.

"Maybe you're the only person who thinks I'm boring," Kumiko said with a snort, though she shifted out of the way and put her dishes away to dry. "I'm going to go take a shower. Have fun washing," she chimed as she left the kitchen.

Izaya hummed in reply, turning his attention to the dishes. He washed and dried them, then cleaned up the sink. Then moved on to the work surfaces and the oven, wiping everything down until it was a level of cleanliness he was satisfied with.

Once it was sufficiently sparkling, he returned to the sofa and his phone. Neko atsume waited for no man, after all.

Kumiko emerged from the bathroom a while later, mostly dry aside from the hair that she was busy wrapping a towel around. Dressed for the night, she made her way to the living room, though she arched an eyebrow when she saw Izaya on his phone.

"Do they have a cell phone addict meeting group? Phone Addicts Anonymous?" she teased lightly.
