Shadow on the Moon at Night

Zacky sighed heavily as he went to find his men that handled a lot of his business, telling them that he wanted Leah gone, and to find a more capable woman, like a prostitute. Someone who would be willing to follow every command he gave. He watched as they walked into the kitchen and grabbed the girl.

Kiera shifted back and quickly grabbed his shirt, pulling it on. She looked away from him, trying to hide the blush on her face. "Uh, thanks," she mumbled. No man had ever seen her naked before, so it was a bit nerve-wracking that he could have seen parts of her body.

Leah didn't even strauggle against the men, only let out a grunt when they punch her in the stomach so hard it knocked the wind out of her. She gasped for air, shocked when she cough up blood. She clenched her eyes tightly when she heard one of the vampires moan from the smell of her blood. Leah knew then she was going to die.

"I don't know why you're blushing," Brian mumbled. "At this point I'm drunk enough I won't even remember this conversation let alone seeing your legs." He took another drink from the now half empty bottle, knowing he was going to have the worst hangover ever in the morning.

"Hey!" Zacky called when he saw them punch her. He walked over and shoved them away from her. "I told you to take her home, not to use her for your own gain. Leave my home now." He waited for them to leave before he looked at Lean. "Are you okay?" It was really hard for him to resist the smell of her blood, but he was strong enough.

Kiera looked at him and sighed softly. She crossed her arms over her chest. "Why are you so miserable?" she asked, wanting to know if his parents were as bad as hers or if he just had an "awful life."

Leah sat on the floor, feeling naseous and felt pain in her ribs. She gasped for air, knowing now his men had broken at least two of her ribs. The blonde coughed again, this time more blood escaped her mouth, splattering onto the floor in front of her.

"My father expects me to be pack leader and I don't want any of that," Brian stated. "If I didn't know they'd find me I'd run away somewhere far."

Zacky cringed as he watched her puke up blood, taking a deep breath. That didn't help. The urge just became stronger. He lifted his wrist and quickly bit into it, looking away and squeezing his eyes shut as he pressed his wrist to her mouth. "Drink," he said. "It'll heal your wounds."

Kiera frowned. "I'm sorry," she said. "At least it seems that they treat you well. My parents treat me like crap. My mother is always judging me and sometimes my father hits me if I don't do what they say." She reached up and rubbed her cheek, remembering that just last week, she'd said no to him and he'd hit her pretty hard.

Leah weakly managed to shove his wrists away from her mouth. "No," she choked out. "I don't want your blood inside me."

"If it wouldn't fuck up the treaty I'd ahve no problem killing them," Brian stated. "No man should ever lay his hands on a woman."

Zacky looked at her and narrowed his eyes. "Do you want to see your sister ever again?" he hissed, pressing his wrist to her mouth and forcing her to drink his blood. "Drink it. It's the only way you're going to live."

Kiera shook her head. "I wish someone would," she said. "I hate them. I know it's awful to wish death upon someone, but I just . . . hate them." She looked at him and bit her lip. "Sorry. I'm sure you don't want to hear my life story."

Leah felt his blood go down her throat, shocked by how warm it was. She clenched her eyes tightly and forced herself to drink it.

"I honestly don't mind," Brian mumbled. "It's nice to know someone else can releate to me even a little."

Zacky pulled his wrist away from her mouth and wiped the blood from her lips. He stood up and lifted her up, carrying her upstairs so she could take another shower since she was covered in blood now. He was going to make sure the men who did this to her got punished.

Kiera nodded. "You don't have anyone in your pack that you talk to?" she asked curiously. She knew she was going to regret it, but she sat down in the sand after pulling the shirt down as far as it would go. She didn't need to have sand in places it shouldn't be.

"I drank your blood," Leah mumbled. "You don't realize what that means for a banshee do you?" The blonde pulled away from Zack, shocked when her ribs didn't hurt anymore. "Banshees warn of death and you are death," she stated. "I was refusing your blood because now even if you let me go I'll be kicked out of my home and never allowed to see my little sister again."

"No one in my pack gets it," he stated. "They all say I'm lucky but I'm fucking not."

"My blood will be out of your system within a week," Zacky said. "I did what I had to do in order to save your life. I wasn't going to let anyone die on my watch. I've already seen too much death. Now please, just shower and don't patronize me. I don't need this right now."

"I get it," Kiera said. "People think just because you have nice things or a 'functional' family that everything is perfect, but it's not. They don't get what goes on on the inside." She shook her head. "I've lost friends for that reason. I tried to tell them what was going on and they always said I was just bitching for no reason. They said I had no reason to be upset."

"Vampire blood never leaves a banshees system," Leah snapped. "If you knew anything about my kind you'd know that!" She slammed his bathroom door, not thinking about locking the door because she was too busy ripping his clothes off her body before she turned on the shower, making sure it was warm before she hopped in.

"They don't understand because they don't have the responsibility we do," Brian replied.

Zacky shook his head. Unappreciative bitch. He walked over to his bed and laid down on it, groaning as he buried his face into the pillow. What did he get for being a good person? Shit. That's what he got. He sighed heavily, wishing he could just fall into a deep sleep and never wake up.

Kiera nodded her head. "You're right," she said. She looked at him, biting her lip gently. "My parents are probably going to try and find someone else to marry me to. I don't know why it's so important that I marry a werewolf. Me marrying a werewolf isn't going to help whatever cause they're fighting for."

Leah showered, scrubbing her skin raw before she got out. She saw her old ratty clothes were still on the floor and slid them back on. She looked at the window in the bathroom quietly opening it and popped out the screen on it. She looked down and saw it wasn't too far up from the ground, deciding to make a run for it. She jumped out of the window, running as fast as she could as soon as her feet felt ground beneath them.

"Like I said before," Brian mumbled. "It's that stupid treaty between our kind. Intermarry and interbreeding keeps it active because theres a stupid clause in it that says we have to."

Zacky could hear Leah opening the window, but he didn't do anything about it. At this point, he was giving up on everything. He figured if he went long enough without feeding he might eventually die or fall into a coma or something. Anything would help at this point.

Kiera shook her head. "It's so stupid," she said. "We should be able to marry whoever we want to and still keep the peace between our kinds. It's not that hard." She shook her head and sighed softly as she laid back in the sand, pushing the shirt down further to cover her crotch.

Leah managed to get home, explaining what happened to her sister before Zack's men found her. She was handcuffed and forced back to Zack's mansion, his men tossing her roughly at the foot of his bed. One of his men chained her to the wall and left the room, hoping their master drained her dry.

Brian chuckled. "You would think it would be that easy."

Zacky huffed as he looked at Leah. He just rolled over and ignored her presence, deciding that tomorrow, he would take her back to her house himself, and he was going to fire his men. What didn't they understand about him not wanting the girl? Were they really that dense?

"It is that easy if people just use common sense," Kiera said as she looked up at him. "But apparently old people aren't very bright." She sighed softly, wishing things were as simple as she could marry whoever she wanted whenever she wanted without conflict.

"My family already knows what happened," Leah mumbled. "If you try to take me back they'll kill me."

Brian chuckled. "They really aren't."

Zacky sighed. "Then I'll give you to someone who can take care of you," he said. "I don't want you here if you're going to bitch and moan and disobey every order I give you. I saved your life, gave you clothes, a shower, and food, and all I asked was that you cooperate for me when my father comes, but no, that was too much for you to handle."

Kiera looked up at him and smiled. He had a cute laugh. She bit her lip. "So, do you have a girlfriend?" she asked. "Is that why you were so upset that it was me you were going to be marrying?"

"I'm dead no matter where you send me now," Leah stated. "So just snap my neck and be done with it."

"No," Brian answered. "I just like fucking whoever I want when I want and being married or dating someone doesn't allow me that freedom."
