I'll Be Seeing You

Lucy couldn't bring herself to look at him. She was afraid and embarrassed and she honestly just wanted to crawl under a rock or something right now. She still couldn't believe she'd just done that. She didn't say anything when he spoke and she sure as hell didn't look at him, but she did listen. It wasn't until he guided her chin up so that she had to look at him that she did. His words sort of shocked her, and although she'd been listening to him before, her own thoughts had been a bit too loud for her to focus on them entirely. Now though, with no other option than to look at him, well, she was definitely hearing him now. "You're...not upset?" She repeated slowly.

Bucky couldn't help but laugh lightly at her words, "No, Doll. I'm not upset. Why on Earth would I be upset?" He questioned, "I'm just frustrated at myself 'cause all this time I could've had you, but I was too stupid to see that you felt the same." He wanted to kick himself for being so blind. He didn't know how he couldn't have seen it, "I guess this is what Steve meant by serious." He joked with a grin on his face, "I'm sorry I made you wait so long, Doll, I just never thought you thought of me like this."

Lucy's head felt like it was spinning. She had never, not even in a million years, thought that she'd ever find out that Bucky felt the same way about her that she did him. She always assumed that he never looked her way because he only saw her as a friend, but apparently that wasn't the case at all. "Steve exaggerated a little bit." She said, letting out a quiet laugh. "I suppose I might be able to forgive you..." She smirked slightly. Truth be told, forgiveness had never come into play. Bucky was still one of her closest friends, and she wasn't ever going to lose him over something like a crush.

Bucky laughed lightly at her words about Steve before he pulled her close after her following words, "Doll, tell me what I can do in order to get your forgiveness." He begged her with a smirk forming on his face, "I'll do anything. You name it, and it's done. For you, I'd do anything." Bucky said. It was true. Even before he knew about her feelings, he would have done anything and everything for Lucy. She was one of his best friends, and he loved to see her happy, so he would do anything he could to see her smile.

Lucy let out a quiet laugh when he pulled her towards him and started to "beg" for her forgiveness. "Weeeeellll there is one thing..." Lucy said, dragging out the syllables in the first word. She knew that, despite the joking nature of their conversation, Bucky would do just about anything to see her smiling. Whenever she was upset, regardless of whether it was because of something he'd done or not, he was always cracking jokes or doing something sweet to cheer her up. She'd lost count of the number of times he'd shown up to her place with some her favorite things to cheer her up after some jerk had broken her heart. It didn't matter what was going on, Bucky was always a constant in her life. As she looked up to him, a slight grin tugging at the corners of her lips, she couldn't help looking at his lips. The kiss earlier might have been short-lived but she had still noticed how soft and plump they were. And she certainly wouldn't mind having hers pressed against them once more.

Bucky couldn't help but smirk at her words and he cupped her face in one of his hands before he rested the other on her hip as he leaned down and pressed his lips to hers. He couldn't help the smile that came to his face when he kissed her. As cheesy as it sounds, it was a lot different kissing Lucy. He didn't know what it was, or why it was different, but kissing her was better than all of the other girls that he had ever kissed before. It felt more right than with those other girls. He pulled away slowly and rested his forehead against hers, "Doll, let me take you out. Properly. Like I should have done ages ago." Bucky said to her with a smile.

Lucy smiled and kissed him back softly, hands resting lightly against his chest. She had wondered for a while now what kissing Bucky would feel like. She'd thought about it on a number of different occasions, wondering if it would be something cliche and right out of a fairytale or if it would feel no different than when she'd kissed any of her previous boyfriends. It was definitely different, and to be quite honest, she really didn't know how to describe it. It just felt...right. "I'm free Thursday night." She told him quietly, the smile never once leaving her face.

Bucky smiled widely at her words, "Are you alright with going to the movies and then for a walk after? I have a special spot I found a couple weeks ago that I've been meanin' to show you." He questioned with a grin. There was a little beached area that was about a thirty minute drive from the movie theater. He knew that movies and a walk was kind of un-original, but he knew that the place he was taking Lucy was going to be special for the both of them because it seemed like nobody had ever been to that beach area before, and Bucky really wanted to share that experience with Lucy.

"That sounds perfect, Buck." Lucy said with a smile. Things had definitely taken an unexpected turn for the better today, and, although she might not have seen it coming at all, she was so beyond happy and relieved that they had turned out the way that they did. She had honestly never thought that she and Bucky would ever be having a conversation like this. It was sort of surreal actually. "What about that redhead you asked out earlier today?" She asked him curiously, punctuating her words with a raised eyebrow.

Bucky laughed lightly at her question, "It's not that hard to cancel." He replied with a laugh. He wouldn't leave the girl waiting. He was a gentleman, and that meant canceling and not just leaving a girl waiting around. That was just rude, "I'll call her as soon as I get to a phone." Bucky said with a grin, "I would cancel all of my old dates if I could go back in time, Doll, just so I could go on one with you." He stated and kissed her cheek quickly. He couldn't really believe any of this, but it was all happening, and he loved every minute of it.

"I was just curious!" Lucy said, letting out a quiet laugh. She wasn't really surprised that he was planning on calling the girl to cancel on her. She knew Bucky, and she knew that he wouldn't just stand someone up. That just wasn't him at all. Plus, if Mrs. Barnes found out that he did something like that she'd likely have his head. He'd been raised right, and he really was a gentleman. "That was so beyond cheesy, James Barnes." She laughed once more, though she couldn't deny that it had brought a smile to her face and caused butterflies to form in her stomach.

Bucky laughed at how defensive she got over it before she told him he was cheesy, "You should know how cheesy I am by now, Doll." He said with a smile, "Like this is just common knowledge. You've known me long enough." He added and grinned, knowing that she liked how cheesy he was, "Don't act like you don't love it." His smirk was evident on his face now and he couldn't wipe it off. Bucky leaned over and pressed his lips against hers once more, just loving the feeling of them pressed against his lips in return.

"You're a walking cliche, Barnes." Lucy teased lightly, a quiet laugh following her words. She certainly had known him long enough. Sometimes it was still hard to believe that they'd been friends for well over a decade. She had Christopher McGreevey to thank for that. He'd pushed her down on the blacktop one day during recess. Steve had noticed and come straight on over to tell him off. Bucky had to come and intervene. The three of them had been friends ever since. "What makes you think that I love it?" She countered, raising an eyebrow. She was quick to kiss him back when he pressed his lips against hers once more. She could definitely get used to this.

Bucky laughed lightly at her words before he smiled into the kiss. It was hard to believe that he had been best friends with Lucy for so long and that they were just now getting around to telling each other about their feelings, "You love it because if you didn't you would have shoved me or something. Not kissed me back." He teased once he had pulled away. He wrapped his arms tighter around her and pulled her close with a smile as he hugged her, "And I make cheesy look cute and adorable. 'Cause I'm cute and adorable. That, doll, is a fact." He joked and he pulled her down with him onto the couch and laid back so she was laying on top of him. Bucky didn't let her go, though. He just continued to hug her with a smile plastered on his face.

"I can still shove you if I wanna shove you." Lucy countered, letting out a quiet laugh as she pushed lightly on his shoulder. She smiled when he pulled her closer to him and hugged her tightly, rolling her eyes slightly though in response to his later words. "I'm not sure that I'd use cute and adorable to describe you." She teased lightly, laughing once more when he pulled her down onto the couch with him. She couldn't keep the smile off of her face as she looked down at him, letting out a soft sigh of content as she rested her head against one of his shoulders and tangled their legs together. Her mood had done a complete three-sixty from where it had been earlier. She was on cloud nine right now. There was literally nothing that could put a damper on her mood. "Do you wanna mess with Stevie tomorrow and pretend we're still mad at each other?" She asked, a slight grin tugging at the corners of her lips.

Bucky laughed at her words and shook his head, "You know that I'm cute and adorable. Those are the exact words you would use to describe me." He replied with a smirk before she suggested messing with Steve the next day, "Of course! Is that even a question?" He asked with a laugh, "But I don't want you holding back on me. I want you to really act like you're mad at me. Oh! And in my defense, I wasn't actually mad at you. You were mad at me, and I was just really confused, but that doesn't matter now." Bucky explained and grinned at her, "But you have to act like I'm the biggest ass in the world, which I kind of am by not realizing your feelings for me, but that's not the point." He joked and let out a little chuckle at his own words.

"I wouldn't be so sure of that, Barnes." Lucy teased with a slight smirk. The smirk morphed into a grin though when he agreed to her suggestion. Steve would more than likely believe them, especially if they really played it up well enough. It would be fun, and she doubted he'd be mad about it once he learned that she and Bucky were giving things a try. After all, he was the one who had been telling Lucy time and time again to just talk to Bucky about it for ages now. "Yeah, yeah, yeah. Minor technicalities." She let out a quiet laugh. "You said it, not me." She teased. "I definitely have no problem acting like you're the biggest ass in the world. That I can definitely do."

Bucky couldn't help but let out a loud laugh at her words, "Damn woman, we just got things going and you're already insulting me." He put a hand over his heart and frowned at her, "You hurt me, doll." He stated and then smiled at her before he kissed her cheek, "So, I've got nothing left to do for the rest of the night. I'm all yours if you want to do something." Bucky suggested. He knew that the two could just lay like they were on the couch for the rest of the night and they would both be totally fine with it. They never had to do much to have a good time. That was something had always been a constant in their friendship, even when Steve was around as well. The three of them could literally just skip stones in the lake and they would all consider it a day well spent.

"Maybe if you weren't such an easy target." Lucy teased, a slight grin tugging at the corners of her lips. She rolled her eyes and let out a quiet laugh when he continued on with the dramatics and told her that her words had hurt him. "I'm sure you'll survive. Your ego could use a bit of deflating anyway." She laughed once more, smiling when he pressed a kiss to her cheek. The simple action still caused her heart to do a small skip. She wasn't sure how long it would take her to really get used to all of this. "All mine, huh? Well, Steve talkin' about gettin' those egg creams earlier really got me thinkin' about them. The place 'round the corner from here should still be open."

Bucky frowned and pouted slightly at her words before she spoke about his ego needing deflating anyway, "It does not! My ego is at a reasonable size! It does not need to be deflated." He defended with a playful glare sent in Lucy's way. When she suggested going to get the egg creams, Bucky laughed and nodded before he smiled at her, "Well let's go then, doll, before they close. We can bring them back here and eat them." He suggested with a smile, "Or we could go to the park and eat them since it's not very far and I know how you like that spot there because of how secluded it is."
