(Sorry for the bland start, I just wanted to get him going towards Leilah so our plan can start relatively soon)
Rennyn stared at the off white color of the ceiling. To be honest, he'd lost track of how many days--weeks?--it had been since he first came to earth, and since he had first encountered the angel. He knew she was nearby, he could feel it, and he knew she probably chose to remain nearby, just as he had. It was important to keep tabs on the enemy, but that didn't mean he needed to address the issue now, and so he'd chosen to avoid it.
In the meantime, he had thought about how to live. He tried a part time job at a coffee shop--it hadn't been that difficult, and his presence actually increased patronage at the store while he was there. This did not last very long, however, as Rennyn realized that people really suck. And so, instead of continuing his work there (though he kept some of the connections he'd made among regulars and coworkers), he went with his original idea. If you can't earn it, steal it. Between petty theft and expert cons, he'd managed enough per month to get a small place for himself. It wasn't great, but it had a roof and working amenities. He also had a mattress in his bedroom and a dingy couch in the living room area. That was all he really needed, and he had no intentions of making it any more comfortable or home-like. This place wasn't home, he spent little to no time there aside from sleep, and he didn't plan to make it home in the future.
Today would be no different than usual, he figured. He got up, took a shower, forced a small meal down his throat (though he was still a bit upset that it was even necessary), and walked out the door, not bothering to lock it behind him--if someone wanted in for his mattress, they could have it.
When he was out on the street, he could still sense Leilah's presence and general direction, but he wasn't sure he wanted to interact with her today (he didn't most days), but he also didn't feel like going out of his way to avoid her. So he didn't, and he went in that direction anyways. He felt something strange about today, something different in the air, but for some odd reason he couldn't quite identify what it was. This was unnerving to him, so maybe it wasn't a bad idea to see what she was up to. With no new leads on why he was there, and unable to collect any souls (until he could find one that fit a loophole) he had nothing else to do on that day.
