I Know You

Chanyeol looked the girl over, she had yet to raise her eyes to meet his. He could tell that she way nervous; like most people that sat before him in this type of circumstance had been. What they failed to realize was that he was not his father. He was much more laid back and willing to hear people out as they were being interviewed. When she finally raised her eyes to meet him, he couldn't help but feel as if he knew the girl who was sitting in front of him. "Miss.... Dare, was it?" He said with a smile.

He clasped his hands in front of him on his desk, watching for any type of reaction out of the girl. He almost hated interviewing people, he hated watching them squirm with nerves. Was he really that intimidating to sit in front of? "What is the sole reason that brings you in this morning to this interview?" he asked. His eyes flicked downward in order to start briefly reading over her application paperwork.

Chanyeol realized as he continued to read over her paperwork, looking at her references, and hearing her voice exactly who she was. Though a little older now, and a little more mature, the voice sounded the same. Her eyes were the same... Everything about her seemed the same--just more defined. She seemed to be the same little girl who lived just down the street.

Chanyeol decided to have a little fun. He smirked to himself, knowing that she probably didn't recognize him--yet. He cleared his throat, pushing his realization to the back of his mind. For the time being he needed to focus on the interview, but towards the end he would see if he could get her to remember him. "Your resume is pretty impressive. Where is it that you got your degree from?"

Chanyeol gave her a tight, yet impressed smile. He remembered her as always being so dedicated to her studies. He flicked his tongue across his bottom lip, nodding his head along as he listened to her. He flipped through a couple more pages of her file, his finger tips linger across the ink that spelled out her name. "That is quite impressive, Miss Dare."

He silently wanted just to come out and say he already knew her--but he knew he shouldn't. This was business, wasn't it? He shook his head at his own thoughts, hoping that she hadn't noticed. She probably wouldn't remember him right off the bat anyways. "Besides your schooling, do you have any first hand experience you would like to discuss?"

He nodded once more. Her resume and experience was in fact impressive. There was no doubt that she would be an essential part to their team. He ran a hand through his hair, letting a small exhale escape. "You mentioned that you did your schooling at MIT. Have you studied abroad or lived in the same area for your entire life?"

Chanyeol wasn't quite sure we're he was going with this interview. The fact that he already knew so much about the girl in front of him was throwing him off his game. He didn't really know what to ask and what not to ask.

Chanyeol's heart sank as those words flowed through her lips. Her parents died? His eyes drifted away from hers, he was stumped and at a loss for words. He looked back up at her and forced a small, understanding smile to be placed on his lips. "I'm really sorry to hear that, but it is amazing and quite strong of you to be pushing through like you are."

He looked past her, to a picture of him and his father placed on the wall behind her. He made eye contact with her again before he spoke, "This is a really random, and off topic question... But did you go to Bellewood Middle School?"

Chanyeol smiled at her. "No reason, lucky guess I suppose." He laughed. "Yeah, I have lived in Boston my whole life." He reached over to grab the folder that had once contained all the paperwork from her file. He opened it up and placed everything back inside of it as he began to speak again. "So besides the marketing and work related things, do you have any hobbies? Play any instruments like the flute or clarinet or maybe even the trumpet?" He hoped that he was dropping enough hints to tip her off that he knew more about her than any other random person would.

Chanyeol shook his head. It was almost unbelievable that she wasn't picking up all the evidence that he was laying down in front of her. He was sure that he was probably coming off as a creep, but it was far better than pointing out the obvious fact that she knew him--even if she didn't remember it.

"You really don't remember do you?" He asked, letting out a small laugh. He brought his arms up to rest behind his head as he searched her face for an answer.

He let out a chuckle, shaking his head in disbelief. He knew that puberty had treated him well, but did he really look all that different. He spoke in a low, soft voice. "I believe we do know each other... I'm not sure that I know of many kids names Chanyeol who went to Bellewood Middle School and Bellewood High. I am actually a little surprised. If I remember correctly, you lived at the end of my street for many years before high school."

Chanyeol gave her a soft smile, the memory of when he left came flooding back. "Well, my dad wanted to move to a different part of the city to start his business... And well," he looked around his office for a moment and chuckled softly, "here we are."
