Follow Without Pride

(I wasn't sure where to start this, so I kind of winged it.)

College was the best choice for Yoongi right now; it gave him a bit more freedom, at least, even though it still meant plenty of studying. At least he could do as he pleased. With his major decided, he busied himself with investigating and learning about the students who were involved in the same major. It was relatively easy to do, albeit a little boring; most students in the same major had simple, boring lives. They didn't seem all that motivated, either, which was probably best for him in the end, but he hadn't yet investigated all of the other students. For the most part, he'd only gotten halfway through the list, but he couldn't research any more for now, as he had to get to class. Sighing, he stood from his seat and gathered his things before he went ahead to leave his dorm to go towards the academic buildings.

The death of Marie and Harlyn's mother had affected their father quite a bit, forcing him to become more protective and to think of ways to make the gang stronger. Marie didn't care much for the details, but she was next in line to take over, so their father was trying to get her to be more serious about and to be more involved with the gang. It wasn't something that Marie was fond of, mostly because she didn't have much interest in taking over in general. She wanted to be normal and to not worry about the possibility of another assassination, but it wasn't an option, it seemed. Even now, her father was pushing for a marriage and she was set to meet the possible fiance at any time, depending on their schedules. For now, she was in her father's office, listening to him bark out orders to his subordinates.

Harlyn groaned rolling over from her bed, blinking she opened her eyes. "Fuck!" She yelped leaping up, her eyes taking in the time. She was going to be late to class if she didn't leave now. Pulling on clothing from the night before, she cursed not being able to find her bra. "Fuck it." She said before heading out of the door, rushing down the hall way towards her class in the academic buildings. Her hands grasped her bag as she walked at a steady fast pace. Hoping not be late for class. The professor would lock the door the moment class began. Her father told her the moment she started skipping classes and partying she'd be yanked from school and brought home. The last thing she wanted was being pulled back home, the dead dreary home that became a prison the moment her mother died. Moving through the crowd she ran into someone. "Oh I'm sorry," she groaned, before lifting her head. Rolling her eyes she noticed it was Yoongi. "My bad." She said sarcastically, before moving off towards her class. The man she'd smacked into was an odd one. She'd seen him around parties and campus, he was always alone. She wondered if he had friends.

Namjoon frowned entering the office building, his father had dragged him along for a business meeting. Nodding he looked around half impressed, the Kray family wasn't doing to bad for themselves. "What are we doing here again?" He questioned, he was his fathers' least favorite child. They'd never seen eye to eye before. He was surprised to hear his fathers offer, "I'm investing." His father chuckled, knowing that it was code. Rolling his eyes he followed after, like an obedient child. "So why didn't you bring Jin?" He questioned, wondering why his older brother wasn't chosen for this. "This is actually for him, I just don't want to involve him until I'm sure." He grunted, throwing him a look. Wanting to silence the conversation. Namjoon nodded understanding the look and shutting his mouth.

Yoongi looked down at the girl who had bumped into him and arched a brow. He recognized her, since they had a few classes together. He didn't know much about her, only that her name was Harlyn Kray. She was next on his list to investigate, though, so his lack of knowledge over her existence aside from her name would change soon. "It's alright. You're in a rush," he mentioned almost casually, though he continued on his way to their shared class, not pausing to see whether she would keep up or not. "You might want to pick up your pace more if you're hoping to make it on time."

Marie looked up when one of her father's subordinates opened the door, upon receiving her father's permission, and announced that they had visitors. Nodding, Mr. Kray stood up and looked to Marie. "Let's go greet our visitors properly," he mentioned before he led the way out of his office, allowing his subordinate to lead the way to where their visitors were meant to be waiting. With a sigh, Marie pushed herself up and followed after her father, though she seemed fairly detached from the entire thing.

Harlyn rolled her eyes, chasing after Yoongi, falling into step behind him. Nibbling on her lip she sighed with relief as she enter the classroom. Noticing the professor wasn't there yet, she took one of her usually seats in the back of the class. Sitting her bag down beside her she leaned over pulling out a notebook and the textbook she'd need for this class. Flipping open her note book she scribbled the date and topic that they'd be discussing.

Namjoon sighed entering a room, he didn't know what he's father had meant earlier but he knew he didn't want to be a part of his fathers schemes. The last time he'd been involved things went south, he'd spent time on the inside. Sitting down at a table, he tapped his hands lightly on the surface. Waiting until they were joined by Mr. Kray, and his what he assumed was his daughter.

Yoongi arched a brow as he watched her move to take a seat. Since there were rarely assigned seats in classes in college, except for when the class was too disruptive, he didn't hesitate in sitting nearby, if for no other reason than to observe her a bit. He didn't have much of a need to pay attention in class; he learned what was necessary from studying the books. Leaning back in his seat, he occasionally glanced over at her but not for long periods of time. The more he learned about the competition in the major he was involved in, the better for him; plus, he couldn't deny that he enjoyed using people's weaknesses against them.

Mr. Kray entered the room soon after he'd been informed the other pair were waiting there. "Welcome, gentlemen," he greeted, though he turned to usher Marie inside. Marie glanced over to their visitors and offered a small nod in greeting. "Hello," she greeted lightly, though Mr. Kray ushered her forward to sit down. "This is my daughter, Annmarie," he mentioned, though Marie bit her tongue to avoid correcting her father on the fact that she preferred Marie but offered a smile as she sat down. "It's nice to meet you both," she said, though there was an incredible lack of genuineness. "Let's get to business, shall we?" Mr. Kray suggested.

Harlyn shifted uncomfortably in her chair, her hands coming up to cover her arms. Trying her best to bring heat to her body, it was like the ac had just kicked on. Normally the room was hot and they'd end up sweating. Rubbing her arms she shifted, looking up, watching as the professor went on and on about a pointless topic. It was suppose to prove that no matter what you can find information in pointless conversation. "Fuck." She breathed out softly, the cold really getting to her. Bouncing her leg she tried to create friction so she could heat her body up.

"Mr. Kray, I know we spoke about this over the phone, but I'm very serious in my proposal." Stated Mr. Kim. His hands placing neatly on top of the table. "Jin couldn't be here today business pulled him to Boston, though he'll be back weeks end." His eyes flickered to the daughter, "I believe we could really make this work." He smiled, raising his brows before turning back to the man before him. "Though I'd still run the east side business until they can prove their relationship is strong enough and handling business isn't intruding on the new relationship." Though he couldn't care about any of their personal shit, he just needed this to happen. So the word that left his mouth were just the words he knew Mr. Kray wanted to hear.

Yoongi's brows furrowed when he heard constant shifting and shuffling. Glancing over, he caught sight of Harlyn's leg shaking and he stared at her for a few long moments. "What's wrong with you?" he asked bluntly, though he kept his tone low because he didn't want to deal with the professor giving him shit. His eyes took in the sight of her, though he could spot the goosebumps forming on her arms from where he was. Sighing quietly, he shifted to tug off his sweater to hand to her, if for no other reason than to get her to stop tapping her leg and shifting, considering the noise it was making.

So, that's what this surprise visit is about, Marie thought idly when she heard the man's words and spotted him glancing over at her. "Of course, I completely agree," Mr. Kray said with a nod. "If their relationship seems stable enough, it will also make it easier to entrust the businesses to them. This will also help strengthen the bond between our groups, which I feel is necessary to achieve the end goal." Marie shot him a look, because she knew exactly what he was meaning; he wanted to retaliate against the group that had taken out his wife, her mother.

Harlyn frowned feeling warmth encase her body, before turning to face Yoongi. Her eyes took in him, she wondered why he was being nice to her. "Thank you." She informed him, before pulling the sweater closer. Wrapping it close she caught a soft smell, something she couldn't place, but it she felt a calm, the scent soothing her. Smiling softly she turned to face the front, feeling better now that she wasn't fretting over heating her body. Crossing her arms over her chest she frowned feeling her hardened nipples, a soft blush creeping on her face.

Mr. Kim stood thrusting out his hand, taking Mr. Kray's signaling a confirmation of a deal. He'd just sold his son over to an old enemy, though now would be a strong ally. "It was pleasure doing business with you." He smiled, before turning to his future daughter-in-law. "Jin will be in touch, I expect great things from this." He smiled, hoping she was the right person for this job.

It wasn't difficult for Yoongi to notice what exactly had happened and his eyes took her in for a moment before he smirked and leaned back in his seat. "Forget to grab a bra before you came to class?" he asked casually, though his tone was still low. "Or did you avoid putting a bra on, on purpose?" He arched a brow, eying her for a moment before he turned his attention ahead because he didn't want others to get involved in the conversation or to notice the conversation in general; it'd likely just cause more problems and he thought this would be more amusing for himself.

Mr. Kray smiled and nodded as he shook Mr. Kim's hand. "I'm glad we can agree," he said honestly before he arched a brow. "Hopefully, this will benefit us both." Marie turned her attention to Mr. Kim and offered a small nod in response, along with a forced smile. "I'll be patiently awaiting for him to contact me, in that case," she told him, though it wasn't like she'd have much of a choice in the end. The decision seemed to already be made between the two fathers and she doubted that she or Jin, whoever he was, could manage to get out of it.

Harlyn frowned hearing his words, her eyes moved to him catching his smirk. "Oh I didn't want to wear one, I knew you'd be here." She sent him a flirty smile, before flipping him off. She knew it wasn't a smart thing to do since he was being kind to her, but embracement won over her brain. "I know it turns you on to have a girl waiting for you." She rolled her eyes, actually enjoying their conversation. Class wasn't holding her attention but the excitement of getting caught had her egging the situation on. She knew there was never a chance in them being together she didn't see him in that light. She liked her men dangerous.

Mr. Kim smiled before nodding. "Let's go," he said to Namjoon, before they exited the office. Namjoon shook his head, "we're combining." He said softly, not wanting people to over hear. "Well Jin's not going to be happy." He informed his father, knowing that the man before him didn't know about his brothers girlfriend. "I guess you want me to break the news?" Namjoon smiled at his father, he was the go to guy that got the shit end of the stick amongst the brothers. "I think I'll do it." His father grinned before getting into an awaiting car.

Yoongi arched a brow in response and shrugged slightly. "Sounds like you have experience in that regard," he mentioned casually, though it wouldn't surprise him, since most girls their age had already had sex. "If you're that interested in turning me on, you're going to have to do more than let your nipples pop out." He stared at her for a moment but shrugged the thought aside and tried to focus on the class, though it was pretty boring compared to the conversation they were having.

Marie watched them leave before she looked to her father and sighed quietly. "This is probably going to blow up in our faces. You realize that, don't you?" she mentioned casually, though Mr. Kray sighed quietly and rested a hand on his daughter's shoulder. "Trust me on this, Annmarie," he said quietly as he stared at her with a small frown. "This is for the best. This will help us a lot, you realize that, don't you?" Marie sighed quietly but offered little more than a nod in response.

Harlyn smirked at him, before shaking her head. Stretching out she felt his sweater slip from her shoulders. Turning her attention to the professor she leaned forward. Her elbows coming rest on the table before her, as her back slowly started to arch. Nibbling on her lip she leaned down closer to the table. A small soft gasp leaving her lips as she felt the cold air across her chest. Her shirt had fallen forward hanging low, allowing for the cut sides to expose more than just her sides. Sticking her pen in her mouth she nibbled on it before throwing at look his direction, a look that said she was more than turned on.

Namjoon frown following his father out of the car, his idea of tell Jin was a phone call, not the decency to have a face to face. That was one thing he hated about his father, the lack of humanity. His father was ruthless and he was glad he hadn't been picked to run the company. He would have to give Jin a bit of a praise though, the woman he was going to marry was beautiful. He knew she was Mr. Kray's daughter, but if he had a child that looked like her he'd want her as far away from this life as he could get her.

Yoongi's eyes stayed focused on her and he arched a brow. She really was working hard to get his attention, wasn't she? Even going so far as to cause herself to get turned on. A slight smirk formed on his features as he watched her, though the class was soon dismissed. Moving to stand up, he gathered his things and turned his attention back to her. "For somebody who seemed so intent on having my focus, I can't help but wonder if you're just a tease," he said casually, though his eyes took her in, running over her features for a moment.

Harlyn smirked at him as she stood grabbing her things as well, placing her bag on her shoulder she grabbed his sweeter. Moving to him, placing her hand on his chest, in it his sweater. "You'll never see me really turned on." She informed him, before moving closer to him. "And I guess you can label me a tease," she whispered, "I sure the hell ain't sleeping with you." She scoffed before quickly separating herself from him and exiting the classroom. She smiled feeling the warmth on her body, happy it's heating up. She took off towards her dorm, glad that was the only class she had for the day.

Yoongi watched her leave before he went ahead to tug his sweater back on. He was slightly amused but shrugged the thought aside. While she was possibly correct about her assumption, he didn't really care too much to accept her words as entirely truthful. His eyes hadn't decieved him, after all; he knew he'd seen her getting turned on. Regardless, he left the classroom and went to his dorm so he could get to work on researching her, if for no other reason than to know more about his competition. And possibly because he was growing curious about her, too.

Harlyn moved through the crowd of people, she didn't have to go back to her dorm but she was still tired from not going to bed till 3am and getting up early. Stopping she debated if she should get something to eat first. Decided it would be best to get something on her stomach, she turned and headed for the cafeteria.

The moment Yoongi got to his dorm, he delved into his research, focusing on finding all the information he could about Harlyn Kray. Needless to say, there was plenty to look through, much more than when it came to the other students he'd researched. His curiosity had grown with the sight of so much information and he diligently began reading through everything he had found.

Harlyn managed to grab her a slice of pizza before heading back to her dorm. Nibbling on it she stuck her key in the lock, opening the door, and stepping inside. She knew once she was done she'd crash and get some sleep. Locking the door behind her, she yawned. Glad that she didn't have to worry about a roommate.

Yoongi had gotten so overwhelmed with the research that he had forgotten to grab a meal. Eventually, he just grabbed something simply out of the mini fridge he had in his room and ate that while he studied the information. Or, at least, he ate bits of it when he remembered that he was hungry, because he was fairly distracted with the research, though he could feel himself growing tired.
