Of Our Fates

She nodded a little,"Yeah that sounds good actually, maybe one day I can make you something from where I'm from?" she offered as she looked at him with a small smile. "I hope you slept well, the sun was quite bright this morning,"

He nodded a little and smiled, "If you wanted... maybe you could come by and visit the kids with me?" he offered as he looked at her curiously.

"I would like that," She smiled a little. "It would give me something to do, and I quite like children. I could bring apples when I came, or maybe something other from the orchard."

"I did, but it was strange waking up in a different place I went to sleep." He said softly. "I'll be out working so around noon I can come back for lunch and maybe we can eat together."

He nodded a little and smiled, "Great! I bet they would like that, it'd be nice for them to have something to look forward to," he said to her sighing a bit. "I'm still working on the doctor bit, no one wants to work for free - and they want to charge crazy fees per child," he murmured.

Lily nodded a little,"Sure, I was thinking maybe we should have our own chickens - we can sell eggs and stuff - trade it for goods in the city," she offered, "And I can sew, so I can do some hemming or mending for some spare change should we need it," Lily had always managed to somehow come up with money, she knew a little about a lot of things. Childcare, farming, raising, goats and chickens - she even managed to make a few of her own dresses.

"I would love to help, I'm not much of a doctor but I know a bit about nursing." She offered. "I don't do much during the day any way,"

"Of course if it's what you'd like to do, I won't stop you. I can see about chickens, though I tend to do better with livestock," he said sheepishly.

She smiled a little and nodded,"I can raise the chickens if you like, then we'll have fresh eggs every day - it'll be good for us," she said to him nodding a little as she took a bite of her food. "This is very good," she sighed.

He looked at her and sighed,"That'd be great, some of them need some looking at, one of the girls I'm worried about her sugars," he said lightly, "she has to eat a bit more than others, but tends to sleep more, is what I'm told."

She nodded. "I would be happy to help, let me know when you would like me to come, I'll bring fruits if it's her sugars that need help."

"Alright then I'll work on getting us some chickens. How many do you think?" He asked. "I'll defer them to you."

He nodded a little and sighed a bit, "It'll be nice when they can start being adopted; I want them to know basic reading and writing, even the girls - in the long run they might be on their own for a while once they're of age," he said to her as he thought about it.

"Well, to have excess maybe ten or fifteen? I can bring some to your mother a couple times a week as well as sell the ones we have extra," she said smiling a little

"Would you adopt one of them?" She asked curiously. "Of course you couldn't adopt all of them, but would you adopt one of you could?"

He nodded a little. "I'm sure she'll like that. I'll find out about getting chickens and I'll get them for you as soon as I can."

She smiled a little as she looked at him, "Good," she murmured lightly then wet her lips as she finished her food, "If you have anything that needs mending let me know, I wonder have much to do today,"

He nodded, "Of course I would, I thought about adopting the ones who are sick or have chronic illenesses like low sugars, or blindess - I can give them the life they need," he said to her thoughtfully.

"Who is in your household?" She asked curiously. "I'm sorry if I'm reaching I just realized I know nothing about your family."

He raised his eyebrows. "Uh..." He never realized that his shirts were mended by his mother. "Oh, well if you aren't busy but don't feel obligated," He said softly

"Just my mom now, my sister recently married," he said to her lightly as he sighed, "so I work to support my mother even if she doesn't needm y help,"

She nodded a little,"Hm, I don't have much to do besides unpack, so I'm sure if anything needs to be done I'll have it. Maybe I'll get the chicken coop up and built today," she said thoughtfully.

"I was just curious but i think I did hear about your sisters marriage," She nodded a little. "She must be proud of you, you're doing a lot to help."

"Is there anything you like to do for fun? Like reading or anything?" He asked curiously

He nodded a little and smiled, "she is, and she's expecting her first child soon - so she is really happy with what I'm doing," he said to her as he sighed.

She shrugged,"I like reading, but books are expensive," she said to him lightly as she shrugged a little.

Mariana adjusted the strap on her shoulder, making sure it wasn't crooked. She was bringing apples to the orphanage to make sure they had some of the freshest ones but she also brought some oranges and grapes as well. She walked along the street but raised her eyebrows not expecting to see Chanyeol coming toward her. "Chanteol? Oh, I was just on my way to the orphanage, is everything all right?"

He shook his head, "It's emily shes been pretty unresponsive all day, I've just put some sugar in her mouth on her gums but she isn't very lucid," he said worriedly, "the doctors in town are really being horrible,"

Lily wiped the sweat off her brow as she sat down then fanned herself, she heard the door open and stood when she saw him mother, "Good afternoon," she smiled at her, "Would you like some tea?"

"Alright well then I'll follow you," She said softly. She had brought some sugar cane and hoped that it might be enough to help, if not some of the apples she had brought. "The doctors still refuse to help?"

His mother walked in and smiled widely. "Oh no no, sit! We don't want to stress you or the baby out, I'll make the tea. I've been making baby's clothes for you, I wanted to show you what I've finished," she said excitedly, moving to set them into the table

"B..babies clothing?" she said with wide eyes as she looked at her as she sat back down confused then furrowed her brow, "I'm.. we're not expecting as of yet," she said to her shaking her head. "We're working on making sure we have a stable house hold first," she tried to reason - that and she didn't want to admit that having been married for almost a month they hadn't even consumated their marriage yet.

He nodded a little, "They said they want to be paid upfront but they're making it seem like its some intense surgery to come and see what is wrong with her - its driving me crazy," he said pushing a hand through his hair.

"But you will be dear," She smiled at her. "Also I've brought some bedsheets I find it's best to mend them more often than not," She added. "I can fix them on your bed later, after I show you the clothes. Have you met with the physician yet?"

She nodded. "If it's her sugars we just need to raise them and have her rest," She said softly. "It will be fine."

"Oh no.. uhm I mended the bed sheets already and I haven't had time to - I've been tending our crops and chickens," she said to her as she sipped her tea then laughed nervously as she closed her eyes, there was so much at stake and she knew that she had to play it safe.

He nodded a little, "I hope so," he murmured softly, "I'd hate for her to get deadly ill," Chanyeol took pride in these kids - several had been adopted already.

She reached into the bag and handed him an apple. "Don't worry, she will be fine. We're lucky it is only her sugars and nothing more severe."

She shook her head. "Nonsense, you need to be resting more, we want the baby healthy and strong."
