    "I can try." I told him. I honestly hadn't prepared very well for studying. I normally didn't even study. "Tell you what, you come back tomorrow after a school, and I'll be more prepared. We don't have any tests for a couple of weeks. I work at 6 so we have atleast three hours that we can study. How does that sound?" I suggested. I didn't know how he would feel about that, but I could get some sample questions and problems set up, figure out a way to make flash cards and notes that he would understand.

    Jake nodded hearing her frowning needing this to work. If he failed he didn't graduate and if he didn't graduate then he was no better than his dead beat dad. He looked at her hearing her. "Alright." He nodded feeling relief wash over him as he did so. He gave her a weak smile, "Sorry for the trouble." He murmured lightly feeling as if she was really helping him out with this and he really needed the help.

    I gave him a slight smile. "It's okay Jake, it's no trouble at all." I told him, rubbing his back. I wasn't going to let the poor kid fail. Even if I didn't really care for him that much. I just hoped that he didn't take these study sessions as me liking him. I ran my fingers through my red hair, wondering what was going through his mind.

    Jake gave her a nod hearing her and said, "I'm glad it's not I don't want to trouble you any." He told her while running a hand through his hair and asked, "does this mean tonight's study session is over?" He questioned her before turning his eyes over to look at her. He bit his lip while watching her. He thought she was pretty and was interesting.

    "Yeah. We can pick up tomorrow whenever I'm more prepared. Now that I know how you study, I will be able to make notes and examples that make sense to you." I explained, I stood up and walked to the fridge to grab a drink, feeling his eyes follow me, I bit my lip lightly before walking back over. "I'll see you tomorrow?" I said to him with a smile.

    Jake gave her a nod and smiled gently. "Thanks for doing this. If anyone gives you a problem or something let me know and I'll help you." He explained wanting to help her in a different way. He stood up gently watching as she moved to her fridge. He blinked seeing her and sniles gently. "Yeah. Same time?" He questioned. When he got his answer he waved grabbing his stuff and heading out the door. "Bye Paige. " He said.

    I watched as he walked out my front door. There was something about him. I didn't know what it was. I shook my head and cleaned up the table before walking up the steps to take a shower. I ran a brush through my hair, letting out a soft sigh as I thought of ways to help Jake.

    Jake walked home and smiled at himself wondering if he would be pushing it if he texted her. He figured he would be pushing his luck. He got home and took a shower before getting out getting some shorts on and heading to the gym to go throw a few punches at some punching bags. He hoped no one he hated was there because then it would be worse. He listened to music as he wrapped his hands up.

    I bit my lip slightly. Looking at the clock, I saw that I had to work in half an hour. I worked at the local bar and grill. Thankfully it was a relaxed dress code, as long as you were wearing shorts and a black shirt, they didn't care. Usually I saw kids from school playing pool or pingpong or eating, but most of the time I was behind the bar. I quickly got dressed before heading out of the house. I got in my car and began to drive, wondering if I would see Jake there.

    Jake was in his zone punching the punching bag as if he had a fight coming up soon. He drew and in his free time he fought. He liked it much better than anything else. He enjoyed fighting it made his head clear up and he felt better after he did. The stress of school seemed to just melt off. He heard someone say his name and looked up before grinning seeing his buddies. "Yo!" He called out laughing. They asked if he would be down to go to a place they loved to eat at. "You paying?" He asked laughing. Whenever they said they were he nodded and grabbed his shirt washing his face off before heading out with them.

    I somehow got put on waitress duty which bothered me because that meant I had to cator to all of my classmates needs. I let out an irritated sigh whenever I heard the door open. "You've got another table Paige!" I let out a slight groan, looking to see who it was, I saw that it was Jake and all of his friends. I walked over, knowing that his friends were going to try hitting on me. "What can I get you boys to drink?' I asked, looking at them knowing that his friends were staring me down like I was a peice of meat.

    Jake was sweaty and knew he needed a shower but he was starving at the moment. He smiled at his friends fucking around on the way to the place they liked to eat at. Once there, he sat down on the outside and looked at his menu before blinking hearing Paige. "Oh, hey Paige." He gave her a sweet smile before looking back down at his menu and saying, "Can I get a water and lemonade?" He asked knowing that he was going to suck down the water and then suck down the lemonade. He noticed the way his friend's looked at her, and kicked them underneath the table glaring.

    I took down the rest of their drinks and began to walk away whenever I heard one his friends speak. "Oh come on man, can you blame us, i mean, look at her ass!" He protested. I just shook my head and walked away to go and grab their drinks.

    Jake frowned hearing them and said, "Quit it, guys." He rolled his eyes shaking his head. He hated whenever people treated women like meat. He had done it before, of course, but he still hated it and it made him feel like trash whenever he did it. He made it a point to try and clean up his act last year. He looked at the menu wondering what he was going to get.

    A little while later, I came back carrying a tray full of drinks. "Alright, so we have the water and lemonade for you," I said, placing Jake's drinks down infront of him. Once all the drinks were distributed I placed the rest under my arm and pulled my notepad out. "Have you decided what you'd like to eat or do you need some more time?" I asked them. I was waiting for one of them to make some snarky comment like they usually did. It was honestly weird that Jake was standing up for me. Especially since he used to do the same things they did. I could remember the countless amount of days that he had me pinned against lockers trying to get me to go out with him. Now, he seemed nicer, but at the same time I couldn't tell if it was genuine or if it was just another act. I tapped my pen against the pad impatiently as I waited for a response.

    Jake looked up when she came back and smiled as she set the drinks down. "Thanks." He said before humming and looking up seeing as the guys weren't answering. "I'll take two burgers and fries. Gotta watch my physique." He joked before setting the menu down and listening to the guys giving their orders before collecting the menues and giving them to her. He heard his friend make another comment about how she was hot and said, "Okay, let's get this the fuck over with. Paige do you like my asshole friend?" Whenever she answered he looked back at his friend and said, "Now fucking stop. No means no asshole." He rolled his eyes shaking his head before taking a sip of his drink. "You know that shit pisses me off." He told his friend whenever his friend got defensive and said, "I think you need to apologize." He said coldly. His friend sighed before turning to Paige and gave her an apology. Jake turned to her and said, "I'm sorry for their behaviour."

    "I appreciate that Jake." I said to him before looking at his friend. "If it didn't cost me my job I would drop your food in a puddle of piss before giving it to you." I said simply before walking away from their table, not giving him the time to reply. I put their order in the window before going around to the rest of my tables, glancing out the windows to see how his friends had reacted to my comment.

    Jake nodded rolling his eyes at his friend. He busted out laughing when he heard her and snickered letting his head fall onto the table from laughing so hard. He couldn't stop laughing for a whole minute and his friend looked disgusted. "Dude, I would watch what you eat." He laughed again and gave her a thumbs up wiping tears from his eyes from laughing so hard. His other friends just kind of laughed but looked worried.
