“Brian and I are going to head out,” Matt stated. “We’ll let you know if we find anything.” He and the demon both got up, saying goodbye to everyone before they left. They both really hoped they did find Apollo or something that would point to where the human had disappeared off to.

Artemis nodded, in approval for Fae and Jimmy to look in her brother’s room. “You know where it is Jimmy,” she mumbled. “Promise to fix it before my parents get back.” She was extremely relieved when Jimmy nodded. She gave the merman a big hug before she left with Johnny and Zack to talk to Mark.

Johnny looked at Artemis. “You know, it’s really brave of you to be taking this into your own hands,” he said. “I know if I was in your shoes, I’d probably be too afraid to find out what had happened. Or I would be too depressed to be motivated to do anything. So it’s kinda cool.”

Fae followed Jimmy to Apollo’s room, looking around as she walked inside. It felt weird to be in someone’s room, knowing they were gone or possibly dead. She began looking around, wondering what Apollo was like. His room looked pretty average for a teen boy; nothing really stood out about his personality. She glanced back over her shoulder at Jimmy. “Why are you so jealous of Johnny and Zack?” she asked.

Jimmy frowned when Fae asked if he was jealous of Zack and Johnny. He wasn’t jealous of them at all. He just wanted to keep Artemis safe. “They’re going to hurt her,” he stated. “I don’t want her to get hurt anymore than she already has been.” He could tell they both wanted to be with her and he didn’t want them to get bored with her and leave her alone and force him to pick up the pieces.

“I just need to know where he is,” Artemis stated. “My family hasn’t been the same since he disappeared.” She stood up and lead the guys across the street to Mark’s house and knocked on the front door. When Mark’s mother answered in tears the brunette frowned. “Oh honey,” Mark’s mom sniffled. “I’m so sorry.” The woman hugged Artemis as she sobbed about how Mark was dead. The banshee teen had been found in his room the night before and there was no real explanation, no note or anything.

Zack’s brows furrowed. It was awful convenient that Mark had turned up dead right when they were going to speak to him. He wanted to ask a bunch of questions, but this woman was obviously in pain and he didn’t think it would be appropriate. “I’m sorry for your loss,” he spoke up after a moment.

“Do you mind if we go look in his room?” Johnny asked bluntly, before realizing that was probably a stupid question.

Fae frowned. “I think it’s sweet you want to protect her,” she said. “But Johnny and Zack both seem like really nice guys. I don’t think they’ll hurt her.” She opened the nightstand drawer, digging through it to look for any clues. “I mean, it’s obvious that Johnny has a crush on her. But she seems to like him too. I can tell by the way she looks at him.” She turned to look at Jimmy, sighing. “Are you afraid you’re going to lose her?”

Jimmy frowned. He didn’t want Johnny to have a crush on her. If it wasn’t Johnny that hurt her he wouldn’t doubt Brian would. The demon was just a protective of Johnny as he was of Artemis. “They’ll hurt her,” he stated. “Everyone ends up hurting her eventually.” Hell he knew had unintentionally before. “I’m going to find a way to make sure she never dies,” he stated. “She’s the only one who cares about me.”

Artemis stated with Mark’s mother while she let Johnny and Zack look through his room. She was in disbelief. She couldn’t believe Mark would just kill himself. There had to be something more that was going on that he hadn’t told anyone. The brunette cried with Mark’s mother, understanding her pain.

Zack looked around Mark’s room, smelling something strange. “I smell Banshee,” he said. “Mark and his family, obviously. But there’s something else here. Will you go ask if he had any friends over lately?”

Johnny nodded and went downstairs. He frowned when he saw both Artemis and Mark’s mom crying. “Um, I don’t want to interrupt, but did Mark have any friends over recently?” he asked awkwardly.

Fae frowned. “That’s not true, Jimmy,” she said. “I may have only known you for a week so far, but I care about you. And your parents, I’m sure they care about you too.” She walked over to him and gently placed her hand on his arm, giving it a gentle squeeze. “I’ll help you find a way to keep her alive forever, if it means that much to you. But just know that there are more people that care about you.”

“She’s special,” Jimmy stated. “She gets me in a way no one else does.” He still has no idea how she had such a big heart or how she could justify protecting even strangers. It made him worry about her. “She cares too much and is going to get herself killed,” he stated. “She needs to stay alive.”

Mark’s mother nodded. “His friend Pierce was over,” she stated. “They were up in his room talking for a while.” Artemis looked at the woman confused, brows knit together as she looked at her. Pierce and Mark weren’t friends, Pierce used to pick on Mark for being friend with Apollo.

“Did he say anything strange after?” Johnny asked. “Like anything out of the ordinary?” He could see the look of confusion on Artemis’s face, so something was obviously wrong here.

Fae frowned. “We won’t let her get killed,” she said. “She’s going to be okay. She has six people to back her up.” She moved to sit on the bed, pulling Jimmy down beside her. She gently slid her arm around his waist and leaned against his side. “I understand it, I do. But you don’t need to worry, okay? Everything is going to be okay.”

Jimmy rested hand on Fae’s cheek, hesitating a few moments he pressed his lips to hers. He knew if Artemis ever found out he was doing this she’d be upset. Of course at that very moment Jimmy didn’t care. He wanted to feel affection in a way he never would from Artemis.

Mark’s mother shook her head. “They both seemed fine when he left,” she replied. Artemis quickly wiped away her tears, deciding to keep what she knew to herself. She didn’t want to upset the poor woman anymore then she probably already was.

Johnny nodded and smiled sadly at Mark’s mother. “Let me just go grab Zack, and we’ll get out of your hair,” he said, knowing the woman needed some time to mourn. He went back upstairs, looking at Zack. “Artemis knows something, so we should get going so we can talk about it.”

Zack nodded, taking one last look around before he followed Johnny downstairs. “Thank you for letting us take a look around,” he said. “Again, sorry for your loss.”

Fae was surprised at the contact, not having expecting it at all. But she found herself kissing Jimmy back. She didn’t know why, but she just felt like if she could comfort him in any way, she would do it. She pulled back after a moment for a breath and looked up at him. Before he could say anything, she kissed him again, knowing he was just craving affection. And to be honest, she kind of was too.

Jimmy kissed Fae back, wrapping his arms around her as he deeper the kiss. He knew it was wrong but in that moment Jimmy was craving more. He moved his other hand to cup her face completely, his fingers running through his hair as he did.

Artemis said goodbye to Mark’s mother before she followed the guys out of the house. She stared at her house, deciding to walk in the opposite direction of her house. She didn’t want to go home or be anywhere near her house until she calmed down and had a clear head.

Zack and Johnny followed behind Artemis. “Are you okay?” Johnny asked after a moment. He knew it was a stupid question, she obviously wasn’t okay. But he still had to ask it.

“Johnny said you know something,” Zack mumbled. “I don’t want to upset you anymore than you already are, but if you think something is going on, we should look into it.”

Fae let out a soft noise of approval, resting her hands against his chest. Her fingers moved to unbutton one of the top buttons of his shirt, hoping she wasn’t moving too fast or going to freak him out. She assumed he wanted sex. She’d only had sex once before, with her ex, and she had regretted it immediately afterwards.

“That piece of shit was not Mark’s friend,” Artemis replied. “Pierce would give Mark shit all the time for being friend with my brother.” She felt more tears begin to fall down her face and quickly wiped them away. “If you talk to Pierce I can’t be with you,” she stated. “He was the one who tried to throw the water at Jimmy. He hates me.” She sniffled, not saying anything else before she quickly began walking away from them.

“Are you sure about this,” Jimmy asked. He didn’t want to force her to do anything she didn’t want. He would honestly just be happy making out with her if that’s what she wanted. The last thing he wanted to do was hurt anyone like he had been hurt in the past. He believed people like Fae and Artemis deserved better than how they were treated in the past.

Johnny frowned. “Artemis, wait!” he called out, rushing after her. When he caught up to her, he gently reached out and grabbed her hand. “Wait a second. We can figure this out.” He hated to see her so upset. It made him feel like shit, and he was determined to do whatever he could to help her out.

Zacky followed them, biting his lip. “I can go talk to him,” he said. “We can meet up after wherever you want. I don’t mind.”

Fae nodded her head. “I’ve only had sex once before,” she mumbled. “I’m not very experienced.” She blushed slightly as she looked down, not sure if he’d had sex before, but she assumed he had. And he’d probably had sex with someone who actually knew what they were doing. She wasn’t completely oblivious, but she certainly wasn’t an expert.

“I’m not very experienced either,” Jimmy admitted. “The girl I slept with before was a succubus and she was using me.” He hated admitting outloud that he had been hurt that way but he knew he could relate to Fae because it sounds like she had been hurt and used as well. “If you don’t want this we don’t have to,” he reassured her. “We’ll only go further if you’re sure you want to have sex.”

“Okay,” Artemis mumbled. “I’m heading to the park that’s like another block away. Do you want to come Johnny?”

Johnny nodded his head. “Yeah, of course,” he said, looking at Zack. “We’ll catch up later.” He walked away with Artemis, staying quiet for a few moments as he thought of what they could talk about to maybe lighten the mood. “So, you and your brother were really close, huh?”

Fae was comforted by Jimmy’s words, to know he wasn’t experienced either. It kind of made her more confident in her choice to have sex with him. “I want this,” she said. “I want to know what it feels like to be treated right.” She leaned forward and kissed him again, continuing to unbutton his shirt.

Jimmy kissed Fae back, glad she wanted it because he definitely did. He helped her finish unbuttoning his shirt before he reach inbetween them and began lifting her shirt over his head. “You are so beautiful,” Jimmy smiled. He of course hadn’t even gotten any of her clothes off yet but he knew even without seeing her naked she was extremely beautiful.

Artemis nodded. “Mom and dad used to travel a lot for work,” she stated. “For the longest time it was just Apollo taking care of me.” She hesitated a few moments before she grabbed Johnny’s hand and held it while they continued walking. “I’m pretty sure if I don’t find Apollo soon my parents are going to get divorced.”

Johnny nodded his head as he listened to her, looking down when he felt her hand grab his. His head then snapped up at what she said next, a frown on his face. Sometimes it was hard for him to believe a person’s parents could ever hate each other or not be in love anymore because his parents were the definition of being in love. They were so happy and in love, and he was lucky to have them. “Do they fight about it a lot?” he asked.

Fae blushed slightly at Jimmy’s words. “Thank you,” she murmured, helping him take her shirt off. She ran her hands over his chest, down his stomach and resting on his belt. “You are too.” She looked up at him as her hands went to work on undoing his belt and his pants. “You’re the first merman I’ve ever met or seen before.” She leaned forward and pressed her lips to his neck, kissing lightly over the gills there.

Jimmy watched as Fae blushed, finding the look of her skin flushed turning him on. He hoped to see her flushed underneath him in a few minutes. He knew if he thought she was beautiful with clothes he’d probably be a goddess in his eyes naked in a way he could truly appreciate everything about her. When Fae mentioned what he was Jimmy’s body tensed slightly and when she kissed his gills lightly he was even more surprised. The only person other person who had ever been so careful and delicate around his gills was Artemis and she had been helping clean mud that had been thrown at him off his neck.

“Only when they think I’m asleep,” Artemis replied. “They blame each other for what happened.” The brunette clenched her blue eyes shut as more tears began to fall down her face. “It’s not their fault,” she sniffled. “He came home to grab my wallet because I forget it. If I hadn’t I’d still have my big brother.” Of course the brunette knew that wasn’t something she could say for sure but deep down she felt like Apollo being home alone was the reason he was gone now.

Johnny frowned. He stopped where he was walking and pulled her to a stop as well, turning to wipe the tears from her eyes. “It’s not your fault,” he said. “Something is going on here, and we’re going to get to the bottom of it.” He looked at her for a moment before he quickly leaned in to peck her lips. He pulled back immediately after, his eyes wide. “I-I’m sorry,” he muttered.

Fae kissed his collarbone, sucking lightly as she finally got his pants undone. She let go of them so he could get out of them before reaching down and undoing her own pants. She lifted up and shimmied out of them, kicking her shoes off, followed by her pants. She moved back on the bed some, completely forgetting where they were at in that moment. She smiled at him, biting her lip gently.
