“It’s the cult,” Artemis replied. “It’s the only reason he would change his mind.” Of course the brunette knew better than to start accusing Hades of taking her son again in front of her mother. She knew Hadws would make her regret it if she did.

Claire opened the door, smiling when she saw Fae and Matt. “Thank goodness you’re here,” she smiled. “Maybe you can talk Artemis out of letting that succubus stay in her life.”

“We need to protect her,” Luna said, turning to Hades. She took his hands and looked up at him with pleading eyes. “Please?”

“I’ll see what I can do,” Hades said. “It’s not easy to get you downstairs, if you know what I mean. I’ll have to open a portal.”

“Her mom? Is she here?” Fae asked. She looked up towards the stairs when she sensed two presences in the house that weren’t Artemis or her baby.” She grabbed Matt’s hand and dragged him upstairs. “Artemis?” she called.

“If I lose her my soul will be down there soon enough anyways,”Artwmis countered. “She’s the only thing keeping me alive right now.”

Matt frowned when he heard what Artemis said. When they walked into the room he saw someone who he assumed was the brunette’s mom and another person. “Who are you,” Matt asked.

Hades turned and looked at the boy. “Werewolf,” he said. “Why don’t you tell me your name and what you’re doing here?”

Fae stood there, looking at the man before them. She could tell without even knowing him that he was powerful. More so than even Artemis was. “Hades,” she mumbled, glancing over at Artemis. “Right?”

Artemis watched Matt and Fae walk into the room, her body tensing when they started interacting with her uncle. “I think it’s best you guys go until I finish talking to my mom and uncle,” she stated.

Matt looked from Artemis back to Hades, shocked but in guard since he now knew he was in the presence of a god.

“I would listen to your friend,” Hades advised. “This is family business that doesn’t concern either of you.”

“Is everything okay?” Fae asked, looking only at Artemis.

“Everything is fine,” Luna said.

“I promise we can talk after I finish talking with my mom and uncle,” Artemis promised.

Matt looked and Artemis and finally noticed the tiny baby in her arms. “Can I hold her,” he asked.

“No,” Hades said firmly. “Now leave.”

“Hades,” Luna hissed. “Don’t be rude.”

“We’ll just leave then,” Fae said, not wanting to disturb the god.

Artemis hesitated before she carefully handed Celeste to Matt. “Make sure to support her head,” she whispered. “And when she wakes up if you sing to her she won’t start crying.”

Matt nodded, holding Celeste carefully before he walked out of the room.

Fae followed Matt, watching him carefully. He seemed so natural with the baby, and it made her heart melt. “Isn’t she beautiful?” she asked.

Hades watched the two of them leave the room before turning to Artemis. “Why am I even here?” he questioned. “I thought you requested me to protect your baby, yet here you are handing her off to random people with no second thought.”

“I trust Fae and Matt with my life,” Artemis stated. “Now are you going to help or not?”

Matt nodded. “She’s so small,” he mumbled.

Hades narrowed his eyes at her. “You don’t speak to me that way,” he said sternly. “You’re not pregnant anymore, and I will not hesitate to make you eat your own words.”

“Hades,” Luna pleaded. “Please.”

Fae nodded her head. “Twins don’t usually carry to full term,” she said. “Most of the time they’re born prematurely, which means they aren’t as big as one baby would be.”

“Do it and you lose your chance at using me to kill dad,” Artemis snapped. “Because we both know if I do it you can claim I did it on my own and sit on the throne like you’ve been dying to for eons.”

“What happened to the other baby,” Matt asked. No one had told him what had happened to Cole yet.

Hades huffed, raising his hands above her head. “I’ll put a protection spell on you until I can open a portal,” he said.

“He passed away,” Fae said, frowning slightly.

Artemis closed her eyes, letting out a sigh of relief as Hades put the protection spell on her.

Matt frowned. “Is Artemis taking it hard?”

“The portal will be open tomorrow. Until then, try to keep yourself out of trouble,” Hades said. “I’m not your keeper, okay?”

“She seemed pretty upset when she told me about it,” Fae said. “So I guess yeah, she is.”

“I wouldn’t want you to be,” Artemis replied. “I doubt you’d do any keeping.”

“Artemis,” Luna snapped. “Control your temper right now.”

Artemis rolled her eyes and stormed out of the room, quickly sitting down next to Fae and Matt. “Zack is trying to take her away from me,” she stated. “She’s all I have left and I refuse to let him ruin the one pure thing that’s left in my life.”

Fae frowned as she looked over at Artemis. “Why is he trying to take her?” she asked. “Is it because of the cult? You can’t let them get their hands on her.”

“When I was pregnant I made a mistake,” Artemis stated. “Zack found out and hates me for it.”

“What do you mean you made a mistake?” Fae asked. She reached over and gently took the other girl’s hand in her own, stroking the back of it with her thumb. “We won’t judge you. But I won’t force you to tell us if you don’t want to.”
