“Yes,” Artemis answered. “My son Cole was a stillborn.” The brunette had talked to Persephone and the Fates and both had said Hades was telling the truth. Of course the brunette had to bribe the fates to even talk to her but she genuinely believed her son had died due to not pushing when Hades had initially told her to.

“I’m going to kill him,” Matt snarled. The werwolves’ jaw clenched, beyond pissed that Zack’s lawyer was bringing up such a sore spot for Artemis. She was still completely heart broken about losing her son.

“Oh, he was?” the lawyer questioned, grabbing his notes. “That’s not what I have written down here. Are you willing to go to jail for perjury, Miss Hunter?”

Fae squeezed Matt’s hand. “She’ll get through this,” she whispered. “She’s strong.”

“I’m not lying,” Artemis stated. “His lips were blue and he wasn’t breathing!” The brunette felt tears begin to fall down her face extremely upset that she was essentially have to relive her son’s death yet again. “I called Zack, left voicemails and even text messages to try and let him know what happened and I never got a response back.”

“I’m going to kill him,” Matt hissed. “That lawyer is a piece of shit.”

“Well I have in my notes that you sold your baby in return for sleep,” the lawyer said. “And he certainly isn’t dead.”

Fae stared at the lawyer, wondering where he got his facts from.

“He’s dead,” Artemis stated. “I wouldn’t just let someone take him away from me. He’s my baby.”

Matt growled loudly, causing several people around him to look at him.

“I’ve seen him,” the lawyer said. “He’s alive and well, living in the underworld with Hades, the god you sold him to.”

Fae looked at Matt. “Matt, calm down,” she pleaded.

“That’s not possible,” Artemis argued. “The Fates and Persephone both told me Cole was dead.”

Matt growled louder, finally having enough and lunged at the lawyer to try and attack him.

The lawyer walked over and turned on the TV to show the video he’d gotten of Cole alive and well with Hades. “Does he look dead to you?” he asked. “Your honor, Miss Hunter is obviously lying to save her own self.” Before the judge could say anything, he grunted as he fell to the floor, attacked by one of the boys.

Fae’s eyes widened and she stood up, rushing over. “Matt!” she yelled, frowning as one of the policemen pulled her away, the two others trying to break up the fight. Tears formed in her eyes as she watched the scene play out before her, not believing Matt could be so violent. It almost hurt, to see him attack someone so viciously, and so easily, without even a thought.

Matt snarled ripping the lawyer’s throat out, spitting the flesh back out at the man. He wasn’t himself at that point, the wolf had completely taken over. The wolf turned to look at Zack and growled.

Artemis rushed off the bench, trying to help the lawyer when she realized Matt was going to attack Zack. She let the bailiff take over and moved to stand in front of him. “No,” she hissed. “Enough Matt.”

The wolf snarled, staring Artemis down before a whine finally escaped his throat when he realized what he had done.

Zack stood up, completely shocked by Matt’s actions. Of all the years he’d spent being Matt’s best friend, he’d never seen the other boy act like that. It was a shock to him.

Fae stared at Matt in shock, sniffling. She pulled out of the officer’s grasp and wiped her eyes, quickly running out of the courtroom. She couldn’t believe what she’d just witnessed. She didn’t know why it was affecting her so much, but it was. Matt was supposed to be the sweet, loving boyfriend, and seeing him act that way, it just scared her.

Once Artemis knew Matt was okay she rushed back over to Zack’s lawyer, closing her eyes and exhaled deeply, saving his life even though everything in her told her to let the scum die. The simple action shocking everyone in courtroom, especially everyone in associated with the cult.

Matt fled the courtroom, the judge realizing why the werewolf had gone mad when he caught the smell in the air. “Who put wolf’s bane in my courtroom,” the judge shouted.

Zack stared in shock as Artemis revived his lawyer, wondering why she had done it. He walked over to stand in front of her. He knew he shouldn’t be talking to her, but he had to know why. “Why did you do that?” he asked.

Fae jumped slightly when she heard the courtroom doors fly open, looking over at Matt. She sniffled, wiping her eyes. She didn’t know what to say to him. She felt like she was going to be sick again, but she didn’t want to stay here. She needed to go home.

“He’s only doing his job,” Artemis mumbled. “He doesn’t deserve to die for that.” The brunette helped the lawyer stand up, a bit relieved when the judge said the case could start back up tomorrow morning and that no charges would be pressed against Matt because of the wolf’s bane.

Artemis rushed over to Fae when she knew she could leave and held her hand tightly. “That wasn’t him,” she stated. “Wolf’s bane drives every wolf and shifter mad.”

Zack sighed heavily, walking out of the courtroom. He was agitated, he wanted this to be done and over with.

Fae sniffled and looked at Artemis. “Who did it?” she asked. “You don’t think it was Zack’s parents, do you?”

“I don’t know,” Artemis mumbled. “But lets get you home.” If the brunette knew Matt he was probably waiting for them there with Celeste.

Zack walked out of the courtroom, seeing Artemis and Fae. He rushed over before they could leave, grabbing Artemis’s wrist. “I just wanted to tell you guys that I didn’t bring the wolfsbane, and I had no idea that it was in the room. I’m sorry for what happened,” he mumbled. Deep down, whether he liked to admit it or not, he still loved Matt as a brother, and seeing him that way hurt.

Fae stared at Zack for a moment. “Thanks,” she mumbled awkwardly.

Artemis pulled her wrist away from Zack, glaring at him as she did. “Prove it to Matt not me,” she hissed. Now that the shock had worn off she was realizing Hades had her son alive in the underworld and Zack had known the entire time.

Fae led Artemis out of the courthouse, sighing heavily. She stopped the other girl before they got too far, letting out a breath. “I-I think I might be pregnant,” she mumbled. She hadn’t wanted to admit it, but she didn’t think she could keep it to herself anymore. She knew it was more than just stress.

“I have a pregnancy test at home if you want stop there and take it,” Artemis offered. She hadn’t told anyone that Johnny had raped her or that she was late on her own period.

Zack knew Artemis was right, he needed to tell Matt that it wasn’t him who’d brought the wolfsbane. In fact, he didn’t have any idea who actually did. He didn’t know why he cared so much all of a sudden, but he did. He got to his car, not even waiting for Veronica, and left to find Matt.

Fae nodded her head. “Please,” she whispered. “I need to know.”
