{What if we had Shaun land a descent job, driving for someone. Then Shaun's employer sees Veronica one day, and wants her for himself. Because Shaun and Veronica, haven't really decided to become a thing, they let this happen, but it slowly becomes a whole thing?}

It had been a couple months since Shaun had reached Los Angeles, and he'd been struggling to make ends met. He was searching for a steady job still. He had spent some time working for the garage, for cash. He kept the money hidden away, and once he had enough he found a small apartment for him and Veronica to move into.

The apartment was a small one room place, which meant that he usually slept on the couch. He was excited today, because he'd landed an interview to drive for someone. Apparently they had heard rumors of an out of town driver, winning some 'not strictly legal' races. He hadn't told Veronica yet, wanting to surprise her. He was waiting on the couch for her to wake up.

Veronica spent the last a couple of months trying to help Shaun with earning money to get a place and settle down somewhere. She gotten a job as a dancer but that didn’t last too long. She landed a job as a waitress where she got decent tips, but she didn’t care much for the job. Veronica had to pull through, she wanted to help her best friend.

She rolled over in bed yawning and finally waking up, she had offered Shaun the bed a couple times but he declined every time. Something about them being friends and it being weird. Veronica didn’t say much or offered again after that. Guess their relationship was strictly platonic.

Shaun got up and moved into the kitchen. He started making himself some coffee. He made his way towards the bedroom and knocked lightly on the door. "You up V?" he called through the door.

He wanted to tell her all about this opportunity to drive for some rich guy. He knew that if he landed this job, it would be the next step in starting a good life in LA, for the both of them. He wanted her to stick with him, he enjoyed spending time with her, but they hadn't really talked about getting together romantically. Sure things had happened on occasion, when either both or one of them had been drunk and horny, but they hadn't talked about the idea, properly, and Shaun was scared that bringing it up would ruin their friendship.

Veronica finished getting dressed before opening the door. “Hey, yeah, I’m up. Just a bit tired from my double shift last night. Thank god for days off.” Veronica made her way to the kitchen and grabbed some bread to make toast.

Their relationship was a little different than most, they were both very open about what went on in their personal time. They occasionally had sex, mostly out pent up frustration or they were drunk. Veronica sighed softly, looking over at Shaun, “how’s work for you?” She wanted a new job but wasn’t sure what she’d be doing.

Shaun smiled and followed her into the kitchen. "Well, enjoy your day off, you look like you plan too," he said softly. He sipped his coffee, "I have an interview, to drive for some rich guy, I'm not even sure what he wants, but still," he said lightly.

He moved to the table and sat watching her as he drank his coffee, "It might be our ticket to the big time," he said.

Vanessa pulled her hair into a bun and began walking around the kitchen starting to make breakfast. Or whatever it was they had in their fridge. She looked at Shaun and smiled softly, “sounds cool, some rich dude huh?”

She grabbed the toast and some orange juice and sat next to Shaun “sounds cool, I was thinking about getting. A better job, but tips have been pretty good lately so I don’t know.0

Shaun nodded, "yeah apparently, maybe it'll be good money," he said lightly. He watched her, thinking for a moment.

"Well it's up to you, if you want to get a new job go for it, I should have rent covered for a couple weeks," he said.

Veronica smiled softly, “that sounds great, I want to be availble to help pay some bills. Can’t let you do all the paying..” She laughed.

She walked over to Shaun and hugged him, “I think I will, I’ll be looking but not quit just yet.”

Shaun grinned, "that sounds awesome," he said lightly. He finished his coffee and smiled at her, "Well I should be off, to meet this guy," he said lightly. He hugged her gently, before picking up his car keys.

Veronica smiled and nodded. “All right, have a great day!l she walked over and hugged him. “Call me id you need anything.”

Shaun grinned hugging her back gently, "will do," he said cheerfully. He stepped back, and smiled weakly, before heading out the door to his interview. He was excited about moving up in the world.

Veronica smiled as she watched her boyfriend leave for his new job, she hoped things would get better. She decided to go out for a jog to clear her mind.

Shaun arrived at the interview, and was surprised to see race cars parked around the side of the building. Suddenly things were beginning to clear up. He made his way inside tentatively, and spoke with the receptionist.

After waiting for ten minutes, quietly, a well dressed tall man approached him. "So are you the street racer, my friend told to come around?" he asked matter of factually. Shaun stood up, "I'm a driver, yes," he said. The man smiled softly, "well, we will see if you're any good," he said, "Get me to the airport in ten minutes," he challenged.

Veronica was getting ready for her work out wearing black yoga pants that hugged her just right and a pink sports bra. She had her water bottle and mp3 on her ready for a long work out session. Veronica left and headed to then headed to the gym. Humming along with the song that was playing.

The gym mermbership wasn’t too expensive but the manager did give her a discount. She knew why. She would usually have something to say but Veronica wasn’t going to complain it’s not like she was sleeping with the gym manager.

Shaun smirked slightly, "okay, follow me," he said calmly. He led the man outside to his car, and climbed inside, once the man was buckled, he peeled out of the carpark towards the airport.

Shaun drove quick, but stuck to the speed limit, and road rules, as he navigated he streets of LA. He was surprised to be getting questioned on his knowledge of cars, as he drove, but calmly answered the questions as they came up.

As Shaun pulled up outside the airport nine minutes later, he turned to the guy. "So what sort of driver were you after anyway?" he asked. The man smiled, "some to race for me," he replied, handing Shaun a card, "come by some time, we'll see if your as good on a track as the streets," he said before climbing out of the car.

Shaun was confused at first, but he made his way back towards the apartment. "What are you up to V?" he sent as he drove.

Veronica finished her work out and went back to the hotel to take a hot shower and get ready for the day. She looked at her phone and smiled nothing, I came home showered and was about to find something to do why? How did the meet up go?
