Abby was waiting for Jorel as she started heading for the door, “Jorel, are you almost done?” She asked quietly, hoping she would manage to avoid drawing attention to them.

Adjusting the bag over her shoulder, she stopped as she heard the familiar sound getting closer, “Shit, come on Jay...” Abby knew it wouldn’t be long before the zombies were right on top of them.

It was a few moments before she decided to go look for him, she sighed after turning a corner and realizing there was a group of zombies. By the time she went to turn they had moved to her, pinning her in the corner as she took her knife out and started stabbing them.

“Shit..” Jorel said, seeing Abby pinned. He grabbed his bat and started swinging at the zombies, he didn’t want to shoot them and accidentally hit Abby or attract more zombies.

Once they were done, he grabbed Abby’s hand as they ran through the store and put the door, all the way back to their safe space where their friends were waiting.

Abby was relieved when Jorel showed up, “Its about time.” She said as they ran to their safe place. Once they were close, she looked at him, “I told you, we had ten minutes to be in and out before they got close, what took you so long?”

Walking inside the building that their group had been held up in for the last week or so, Abby walked over to the table and dumped the bag out, “I don’t know how much is left, but I think we’re going to have to consider moving again...”

George looked over to the door when he heard the noise getting closer, he was hoping it’d be Jorel and Abby they’d been gone almost twice as long as they were supposed to be.

Seeing Abby walk in with Jorel behind her, George sighed in relief, looking at Alex, “Wonder what took them so long...”

“I got distracted.” Jorel said as he stood with her. He saw George and the rest of the guys, along with Alex, coming over.

“Took y’all long enough.” Jordon said as he opened a beer.

“I got distracted, sorry.” Jorel shrugged.

“Doesn’t surprise me.” Dylan said as he looked at the stuff they had gotten.

“No idea,” Alex said, going to join them. “You okay?” She asked her best friend. She noticed how shaken up she looked and she was curious now. “What happened?”

“She got cornered by some zombies but I saved her.” Jorel said. “You didn’t get bit did you?” Danny asked Abby.

Abby looked at Alex, “I’m alright, I was actually starting to worry that they had gotten to Jorel until he helped me.”

Hearing Danny’s question, she shook her head, “No, I kept them far enough that they couldn’t get to me...” She was a little irritated that Jorel had been distracted, Abby hated when things didn’t go as planned and that was almost always the case when she went on runs with Jorel.

“What was so distracting that you didn’t notice the zombies right away?” George asked.

He sighed, “At least you both made it back without getting bit.” That was the most they could hope for anymore.

Alex smiled, glad to hear her friend was alright. She looked at Jorel but she wasn’t going to grill him like George was doing. She was just glad everyone was okay.

“Next time you and Alex can go on the run.” Jorel said before walking off to his room. He sighed as he sat down on his bed and pulled out his cigarettes and lit one.

Seeing George grill Jorel, Abby felt a little guilty. She decided to go talk to Jorel. Knocking on the door, she slowly opened it, “Jay, I wanna apologize for being, well a bitch...” She said as she looked at him, she knew he didn’t do it on purpose and that it could’ve happened to anyone.

Sighing, George looked at Alex, “I overreacted...” He shook his head, “Do you want to go on the next run with me?” He asked her, “It won’t be for another day or two...”

Jorel looked over at her and sighed. “Not your fault. I shouldn’t have gotten distracted...it’s just...I saw something that reminded me of my little sister and I was having a moment..” he said quietly, looking away. His family, including his little sister, were dead now.

Alex nodded, “Sure.” She said with a smile. “I guess I’ll get some food made for us, I don’t know about anyone else but I’m getting hungry.” She said, throwing her blonde hair up into a bun.

Abby walked over and sat next to him, “Shit...I’m so sorry...” She knew how he felt, she had lost her family right in the beginning of this whole thing. Resting her head on his shoulder, she stayed quiet for a moment, “Anything I can do to make you feel better?” She asked.

“Great, I’ll let you know when for sure,” George told her, watching as she decided to cook something. “Food sounds great right about now,” he added, their food has been low for the last day or so and they were all starting to feel the effects.

Jorel wrapped an arm around her. “Can you stay here with me tonight?” He asked her. He was pretty upset and he really didn’t want to be alone right now.

Alex smiled and took the bit of food Jorel and Abby had picked up and went to the kitchen. “When are you going to hit that, man? It’s obvious you like her.” Jordon said to George.

Abby relaxed into him, “Yeah, I’ll stay. You’re bed is more comfortable than mine.” She smiled lightly, hoping to lighten the mood a little.

George looked at him, “You realize we spend everyday fighting to stay alive and you’re still thinking about sex?” He asked. “Sometime soon, hopefully,” he added quickly.

Jorel smiled, “well feel free to join me anytime.” He chuckled as he puffed on his cigarette before sitting it in the ashtray. “I really am sorry about earlier, Abby.” He would have felt bad if anything had happened to her.

Alex got the food going before going to grab a bottle of water. She went back to the guys, seeing them hush up when she arrived. “Were you guys talking about me again?” She asked with a smirk.

“Don’t tempt me,” Abby laughed, falling back on his bed. “How did you get the most comfortable bed in this place?” She asked him, sitting up on her elbows, “Dont worry about it, we both made it alive so it was a good day.”

George looked at her, “Nope, you just walked in at the end of the conversation.” He smiled, over at her.

“I don’t know, I guess I’m just lucky.” Jorel laughed as he looked at her. “Seriously, you can bunk with me anytime.”

“They were. Jordon asked George when he was going to bang you and George acts like he can’t cause it’s the end of the world.” Dylan said. Alex just giggled.

Abby smiled, “Good, I plan on it.” She told him, as she decided to lay back down on the bed.

George sighed, “Well, I guess I could’ve just told you the truth if Dylan was gonna rat me out.” He laughed.

“I would enjoy the company.” Jorel said with a smile. He offered her a cigarette. “Want one?”

“That’s cute.” Alex smiled before going back into the kitchen to check the food. She could hear George telling Dylan off and she giggled.

“I’d love one,” Abby said as she took one and sat back up. Lighting it, she took a hit and sighed softly, “I never thought I’d be so happy to have a cigarette.” She laughed softly, looking around.

Once Alex went back to the kitchen, George picked up the closest thing to him and threw it at Dylan, “Thanks a lot ass hole.”

Jorel smiled, “are you sure it’s not just me that you’re happy to see?” He teased her with a nudge.

“Foods ready!” Alex called to the guys and Abby. She went to Jorel’s room and knocked on the door, “hey guys, I made some food if you’re hungry.”

Abby grinned for a moment, “Oh I’m always happy to see you.” She teased, hearing Alex, she kissed Jorel’s cheek and got up, “See you in a bit.” Abby went out to get food.

George smiled, “Great, hopefully it’s something filling.” He said as he went and got food, “It smells great, Aly.”
