Grim as Ever.

Morgana heard a growling noise and saw the moonlight reflect off a pair of glowing hazel eyes and she gasped, immediately pulling her sister back. "Oh my god-" She ran back to the car.

Brian watched as the girls darted backwards and a large black wolf came jumping out from between the trees. "Shit!" He gasped and jumped out in front of it, not having time to change.

Nikki quickly ran back to the car with Morgana. She watched as Brian jumped in front of the wolf, “Brian!” Nikki wanted to get out of the car and run to him, but she knew she couldn’t.

Brian had reacted quicker than Matt, he quickly changed and went after the wolf. Knocking it off Brian and into the woods, he went after it, hoping to chase it off.

Morgana frowned and looked out the window, watching Matt run after it into the woods. It had her heart pounding, wondering if he would be okay. She opened the car door and slowly stepped out, following Nikki over to Brian. She turned towards the woods, but she didn't hear or see anything.

Brian was gasping for breath, large, deep scratch marks had ripped through his shirt and blood was pouring from them. He forced himself to sit up and grabbed Nikki's hand for help. "I-I'll be okay-" He gasped, holding his other hand over his chest.

Nikki held his hand, helping him sit up, “Are you okay?” She asked softly, worry filling her voice. She kept glancing around them, watching to see when Matt came back.

Matt came back sometime later, he changed back to his human form and walked out by Morgana, Nikki, and Brian. He didn’t have anything besides a few bad scratches, “Is everyone okay?” He asked.

Brian coughed, raising his hand up to his chest to feel the sticky blood that was seeping through the tears in his shirt. "I'll be fine." He told her, grabbing her hand to help him sit up more. He sighed, trying to ignore the stinging pain from the rips. "Are you okay?" He took her hand in both of his.

Morgana felt relieved when she saw Matt come out of the woods, looking pretty much all intact. She let out a sigh of relief and ran a hand through her hair, "Brian could be better..." To her, he looked like an absolute train wreck. If a human had sustained injuries like that,... If Brian was a human, he'd most certainly be dead.

Nikki helped him sit up as best he could. She was terrified and trying not to show it too much. “I’m fine, I’m more worried about you,” Nikki said, looking him over.

Matt ran over to Brian, “Alright, right now we need to get him back to the house. It’s not doing any good having him out here.” He gave Brian a minute before helping Brian stand up, “We need to move, now.” Matt helped him into the car and waited for the girls. Once the girls were in, Matt started driving to the house.

Brian chuckled, looking up to see how worried and scared she looked. "I'll be fine. It'll be like this never happened in a couple of days..." He smiled and tried to stand up. It felt like someone was sticking a searing poker to his stomach. He winced and held onto Nikki for support while Matt ushered them to the car.

Morgana got into the passenger seat, letting Nikki slide into the back to watch over Brian. She eyed Matt out of the corner of her eye, a little afraid of how antsy Matt seemed. She figured her and her sister would be in a little danger if they hung out with these two, but now it just seemed so real she was really shaken up.

Nikki watched as Brian stood up and winced, she helped him into the car. Once she got in, Nikki sighed softly. “Are you sure you’re okay?” She asked as Matt drove.

Matt got in the car with Morgana, glancing in the backseat at Brian and Nikki before driving off. He drove back to the house and pulled into the driveway. “Alright, Let’s get inside,” Matt got out and let the girls into the house before he helped Brian in.

Brian looked over at her and nodded, "Promise." Just like in the movies, werewolves healed a lot faster than a human would. Brian would be up and running around in just a few days. He held Nikki's hand, "I could use some help until then though..." He smiled up at her, really just joking but if she wanted to stay with him, he wouldn't mind.

Morgana walked into the house first and flicked the lights on. She headed into the kitchen and leaned against the counter, watching Matt help Brian inside; and then watched a worried Nikki trail them. Morgana was worried about Matt, but she was more worried about what might happen to her and her sister.

Nikki followed Brian and Matt into the house. When Brian mentioned help, she nodded, “I’ll stay with you and help until you’re okay.” Nikki smiled at him, not worried about herself.

Once Brian was situated with Nikki, Matt followed Morgana into the kitchen. Seeing her lean against the counter, he sighed, “Are you alright?” Matt could tell by the look on her face that she was worried.

Brian was thankful that Nikki didn't seem so shaken up. He was sure she was a little worried or scared, but if she was she was hiding it well. He had Nikki help him upstairs to his room, where he sat down on the bed and started to peel off his bloody clothes. He let out a deep sigh and ran his fingers over the deep gashes in his chest. He knew the healing process was going to be a bitch. He looked up at Nikki and gave her a smile anyways, "Thank you for helping me."

Morgana looked up at Matt and bit her lip. Even though she felt so worried and scared, looking into his eyes sort of helped clear it all away, it helped her feel like that was safe. "Just a little shaken up." She whispered, "Are you okay...?" She didn't know what happened in the woods, but from the looks of it, he just chased whatever it was off... It didn't look like he had gotten hurt.

Nikki helped Brian up to his room and watched him as he took off his bloody clothes. “It’s no problem,” she looked at him as he looked at the gashes on his chest, “Are you going to be okay?”

Matt walked over to her and placed his arms on either side of her. “I’m okay, I chased it away. I’m more worried about you, I’m sure it scared both you and Nikki, but it’s handled for the time being,” he told her as he looked at her.

Brian nodded, "Yeah, I'll be fine." He gave her a small smile to try and reassure her. He stepped into the bathroom that was connected to his bedroom and grabbed the first aid kit out from underneath the sink. Primarily, he just needed the bandages. Disinfectants or creams weren't going to help at all, anyway, but he wanted the bandages so he wouldn't get blood everywhere. He came back into the room and looked up at Nikki, "Do you think you could help me one more time?" He chuckled, holding out the bandages to her.

Morgana's eyes lowered for a moment, glancing between both of his arms, before looking back up into his eyes. "What was it? Did you recognize-...?" She was sure that he knew what she was asking. They knew that they had a whole group of miscreant werewolves that didn't like them. Was whatever attacked Brian one of them? She swallowed, knowing that way she was acting was probably making Matt feel like complete shit, but she was scared. She wrapped her arms around his waist and laid her head against his chest, and breathed out. "At least, you're okay." She whispered.

Nikki watched as he walked to the bathroom and grabbed the bandages. When he came back into the bedroom, she nodded, "Yeah, I can help, whatever you need." She took the bandages from him and helped him cover the wound with them. Once she was done, Nikki looked at him, "How's that?"

"It was a wolf, like Brian and I," Matt told her. "I didn't recognize him, but I'm pretty certain I have an idea of why they were there," he sighed. Matt held her close, "I'm fine, and you're fine."

Brian looked down, making sure she had covered all of it, and making sure that it was secure. "That's perfect." He said, patting the center front of the bandages with the palm of his hand. He took a deep breath and looked up at Nikki, opening his arms, with a slight blush rising to his cheeks, "Come here?" He chewed on the inside of her cheek, a little embarrassed. He hoped Nikki wouldn't reject him. He was just positive that was happened freaked her out and the last thing he wanted was for her to disappear on him. Brian wouldn't blame her though. But in the moment, he wanted to comfort her and make sure she knew that he would do everything to protect her.

Morgana didn't want to ask the question that was burning in her mind, 'Am I in danger? She knew what the answer was, though, without even asking. But that answer only prompted another question: Can you protect me? The mere thought of asking him that question was making her stomach double over in knots, knowing it would spark the memory of what happened to his past girlfriend. Morgana didn't think she could bear something like that, losing someone you loved so dear, knowing you should've protected them. Morgana shut her eyes and listened to the sound of his heart beating. "Do you promise?"

Nikki took a step back and watched Brian for a moment before he called her over. Seeing his arms open, she walked over and carefully hugged him. Nikki was freaked out, but she was just glad that Brian was going to be okay.

Matt could tell Morgana had a few things running through her mind and he didn’t blame her at all for that. This was the last thing he had wanted was for Morgana to get hurt or be put in danger. He hesitated before moving closer to her, “Morgana, I promise with every ounce of my being that both you and Nikki are going to be okay, the only way they are going anywhere near you is if they can get through both of us.”

Once she was in his arms, Brian rested his chin against the top of her head and just shut his eyes. He wrapped his arms around her tightly, his hands squeezing the sides of her waist. "You are safe, okay?" He whispered, pressing his nose and mouth into her hair, the scent of her shampoo was filled with lavender and sweet pea and it comforted him. "You don't have to worry about anything as long as I'm here."

Morgana looked up at Matt and bit her lip, "I believe you." She wanted to believe him, and for the most part she did, but there was just a little seed of doubt in the back of her mind that she couldn't shake away from. She brought her hands up to rest on his hips, hoping that by touching him it would give him a bit of relief, or that it would help him believe what she was saying. "I'm just a little shaken up." She forced out an embarrassed laugh, "I thought you were hurt."

Feeling Brian’s arms around her, Nikki relaxed into him. She nodded her head as Brian spoke, “I know, it just made me a little uneasy, that’s all.” Nikki told him, wanting to be completely honest with him. After a moment, she looked up at him, “I’m not worried about anything as long as I have you.”

Matt could just barely see the bit of doubt in her eyes, it hurt him to know that she didn’t one hundred percent believe him, but in reality he couldn’t blame her. “I don’t blame you for being shook up, I never wanted you to have to see or be a part of something like that,” he said softly. Hearing her mention that she thought he had been hurt, he chuckled softly, “I’m still in one piece, so I’m okay.”

Brian looked down at her, raising his eyebrows a little. He was a little taken off guard, he hadn't expected her to say something like that. Brian assumed Nikki liked him, but that much? He smiled and leaned in to press a kiss to her forehead and then he placed his lips against the top of her head, just resting it there. He shut his eyes and just enjoyed the feeling of how warm she was against him. Brian lingered there for a moment, before pulling back and chewing on the inside of his lip, "Well, I'm right here." He grabbed her hand and interlaced his fingers with hers.

Morgana decided to try just leave the conversation there, taking Matt's little joke as a way to divert the conversation elsewhere. And frankly, she was okay with that. She didn't want to talk about what happened anymore. She still felt like she had a pit in her stomach and it was slowly filling itself up with worry, and she wanted to try her best to forget about it. "Yeah, barely." Morgana poked his side, teasing him a bit as she pushed away from him. She saw the bottle of bourbon on the table that one of them must've left there from the previous night, and she wandered over to explore his kitchen. "Do you have anything else besides bourbon?" She looked around before her eyes settled on a wine rack and she picked up a bottle.

Nikki figured her words would surprise Brian, but she did feel strongly towards him. Feeling this lips on her forehead, she couldn’t help but smile. “I’m glad you are,” Nikki told him with a small smile on her lips. She gave his hand a gentle squeeze, just glad to be with him.

Matt laughed softly as she poked his side, “Let’s just focus on now.” He watched her as she eyed the bottle of bourbon on the counter and was slightly surprised when she asked if he had anything else. Before he had a chance to answer, she had already found the wine rack, he went to the cabinet and grabbed a couple glasses, “Here we go.”
