Severus ran his hand through her hair gently. "Then don't worry about it, if it bothers you we can work on apparition together sometime, until you get it," he said softly. It had been awhile since anyone had been this close with him, not since Lily had become friends with the Potter kid. After that Severus had kept to himself, and as far from James as possible, the Gryffindor constantly bullied him.

Nia nodded a little as she closed her eyes wiping the tears out of them as she hiccuped, "If they disinherit me what will I do?" she whispered softly. Nia was bright but she'd never really been sure how to live on her own.

Severus pulled out his wand, and created some small butterflies fluttering around her. "You'll be fine, We'll get the potion right soon, and it'll be worth a pretty penny, and then all the ones you create after it, you can easily make a living," he said softly

Nia was in awe of the butterflies flying around her and smiled a little as she looked at him wiping her eyes a bit. He was the only one who wasn't scared of her parentage, she'd shared understanding glances with Sirius Black but she didn't get on with his crowd. Too loud, and they teased Severus so she didn't exactly want to encourage their behavior. Leaning forward she buried her face into his shoulder her arms wrapping around his lanky frame.

Severus smiled softly, and put his arms around her. He was glad he felt so comfortable around her, it was a welcome change. He had wanted to tell her, about his other studies, into the dark arts; but it was such a hard conversation. He held her close, "Want to go see Slughorn? see his opinion on your new suggestion?" he asked softly.

As one of Slughorns best students, she could see him very intrigued by her suggestions and nodded,"Sure, we can talk to him about it I'm sure he'd have something to suggest as well," she said to him not moving from her position. Without Severus, she would have for sure got insane by now.

Severus nodded softly, and pulled her body close to his. He kissed her forehead lightly, "When you're ready," he said gently. He honestly, didn't want to let her out of his arms, he'd be intent to simply lay down here, with her for the rest of the day.

The next day she knew she needed to speak to Slughorn, he was a great potions master so it seemed only right that she tell him. He'd been intrigued by her persistence on finding a cure for insanity due to dark magic. "Severus, I was thinking... I don't think I'm going home this summer, I don't know where I'm going but it's not back to the Manor..."

Severus held her close, "We could go on a trip, or you could stay with me," he suggested. He didn't know his parents would approve, but he'd make things work. He knew Slughorn would have good advice about how to improve the potion.

She nodded a little,"Yeah, I don't think I want to go back - maybe if I talk to Dumbledore he can help me find work for the summer so I dont need to depend on them so much," she offered. Her family was part of something dark - she just knew it.

Severus smiled and kissed her cheek gently, "that's a good idea, I'm sure Dumbledore will sort something out, he's a good man," he commented. He moved back, "hopefully, my summer will be uneventful, I hear James will be visiting Lily for awhile," he said. It worried him, because Lily lived near him.

Nia agreed with him quietly then looked at him, "I know how much you despise him, try not to let him get to you too much," she said gently as she wet her lips a little. A part of her was jealous of Lily, she got to have a normal life with parents who loved her.

Severus nodded softly, "I'll try not think about him, but it's kind of hard when he's bullying me," he admitted. He sat up, and lent in towards her, his eyes locked on hers. He was nervous, but he wanted to do this.

He kissed her lips lightly, before pulling away slightly, blushing.

She was in shock for a moment before smiling a little and looking down, resting her head against his chest. Nia hadn't expected him to reciprocate these feelings for her, at least not while Lily was around. It didn't take a genius just to tell how he felt about her.

Severus blushed brighter, "sorry, that was in appropriate," he said lightly. He felt bad for putting her in this position. He didn't know whether he still had feelings for Lily, or not, it was hard when he knew she loved James.

"I don't think its a good idea, at least not while you're unsure about your feelings," she said softly as she looked up at him with a soft expression. "I like you, Severus, I just don't want to get hurt," she whispered - her voice a lot quieter than she had intended it to be.

Severus nodded, "I know, it's not fair on you," he admitted. He kept hold of her hand, "I like you too, Nia, I promise, this year I'll figure it out," he said. He smiled weakly; he knew he would always care for Lily, as a friend, they'd played together as kids.

Nia nodded a little and kissed his cheek affectionately before sighing a bit, "I should get back to the dorms before it gets too late," she murmured softly to herself. She didn't want to get into trouble again for being out past curfew. The prefects regardless of the house seemed to have it out for her and she didn't want to templt fate.

Severus nodded back to her, "Okay, I'm sorry about before, it won't happen again," he said softly. He stood up and straightened his robe, before turning and heading for the dungeons.

Euphenia sighed a little then began heading back to the common room, she didn't want to hurt anyone. That wasn't her goal, she was so far away from being like her parents the idea was laughable. Was she even their child? It didn't seem likely at this rate. The next morning she ate breakfast as per usual then headed to the library during her free period.
