The king frowned, obviously not liking the idea of his daughter acting as bait. "Perhaps, but only when she is well again. I can write to the neighboring kingdom and inform them to delay the wedding, to give her time to recover and you time to prepare. Then, we can travel there, pretending that the wedding will still take place, and we can see what you discover." He stated, standing, satisfied with his answer. "You can take the position of her bodyguard, that way if anything happens, you'll be there to help her." Satisfied with his solution, he kissed his daughter's cheek and sent them back to her room, wanting his daughter to be well rested.

Rowan nodded lightly, "Yes of course, When the Princess is up to it," he said lightly. He looked at Freya, "I'll keep her safe," he added. He bowed, before leaving the room with her.

Freya smiled faintly, holding onto his arm as they made their way back to her room. Once about halfway there she grew tired, holding her arms up to him as she asked him to carry her. "Please..? I'm tired.." She whined a little, pressing a kiss to his cheek. "If you do, I'll do anything you want. I promise."

Rowan walked with her, and saw her stumble slightly. He smiled weakly, and picked her up into his arms. "Lets get you back to your room, beautiful," he said softly. He kissed her neck lightly.

Freya smiled, wrapping her arms around his neck as he carried her upstairs, giggling slightly as he kissed her neck. "Thank you, Rowan.."

Rowan nodded gently, "Anything for you," he said softly. He carried her to her room, easily, and placed her into her bed. He turned to guards, and asked them gently to leave.

The guards were a bit hesitant about leaving, but eventually gave in, wishing the princess and Rowan a good night before departing.

Freya smiled as he laid her in bed, sighing as she settled into the blankets. "I love you, Rowan... I really do.."

Rowan smiled and nodded lightly, "I know princess," he said gently. He kissed her forehead making sure she was comfortable. He moved to the chair and sat watching her.

Freya smiled a little as he kissed her forehead, catching his hand before he could sit, looking up at him. "Why don't you ever say it back..?" She asked softly, biting her lip as she looked up at him with a small frown. She knew it was possible that her feelings for him only went one way, and that after everything was over, he'd disappear and she'd never see him again, but she'd rather know whether or not her cared for her now, so that she'd have time to get over her heartbreak before she would be expected to marry someone else.

Rowan smiled weakly, "It's complicated, I do care for you," he said softly. He lent down and kissed her lips, "It's still dangerous for us to be together, when things calm down it'll be different," he said softly.

"But what does danger have to do with it? Why does that have to stop it?" Freya frowned, looking up at him for a moment before looking away. "I.. I understand that you don't return my feelings... I'll stop bringing it up.." she murmured, smoothing out her nightgown before she tugged the blankets around her, rolling onto her side, her back to him. "Father asked the maids to prepare the room across the hall for you.. That way you can have your own bed and still be nearby."

Rowan sighed softly, he lent down and kissed her cheek. "I do return your feelings," he whispered. "I just don't want you to be hurt, if something were to happen," he said softly.

Freya frowned a little, glancing back at him. "I almost died today, Rowan... And I could very well die tomorrow. It hurts more knowing that I might die without knowing how you feel.." she bit her lip, tears welling up in her eyes.

Rowan lent down and kissed her, "ssh, don't cry," he said softly. He pulled her close, "Promise to keep this between us?," he whispered. "I love you more than anything else in this world," he whispered quietly.

Freya wrapped her arms around him tightly, curling into him as she cries softly, although they were happy tears. She looked up at him, gently stroking his cheek as she smiled up at him through her tears. "I love you too.. So much."

Rowan smiled gently, and climbed onto the bed with her. He held her close, "Sleep my dear, you need to recover," he whispered.

Freya curled into him, resting her head against his chest as she finally began to settle down, sighing softly. She smiled faintly as she listened to his heartbeat, tugging the blankets around them.

Rowan stayed with her, as she fell asleep. Once she was fast asleep he carefully climbed out of her bed, and headed across the hall to the room, set up for him.

Freya slept soundly until just before dawn, when she began to have nightmares. She woke with a start, frowning when she didn't see Rowan. She carefully slipped out of bed, tiptoeing across the hall and into the room that had been prepared for him, hoping to find him there.

Rowan was lying asleep, still in his armor. He was still suspicious of his situation. He was snoring away lightly.
