Glitter and Gold

Ari had found a couple of discrepancies in the forms she was looking over in the past few hours, but for now she kept them to herself. She wasn't entirely sure what to make of them and she wanted to be sure before she reported anything.

She stood up from her desk stretching out her arms slowly as she blinked slightly. "I'm going to go grab lunch, I'll be back in a half hour" she said happily to the room.

The others in the room, looked up and nodded, "alright sounds good, thanks for helping," one of them said. They then returned to their conversation, and work.

Stanley was in his office, working away on files, and designs. He was hoping that once this problem was solved, he'd be able to revitalize the business with a fresh idea.

Ariana knocked softly on his door, sticking her head in with a smile. "Good afternoon Mr.Penbrooke, I'm going to go grab some lunch came I grab you something?" She asked him with a sweet smile, her cheeks a rosy pink from the heat inside the offices.

She was actually really enjoying her time here.

Stanley looked up hearing the knock, "Ah Ms Miller, no I'm quite okay, thank you," he said. He waited a moment, "how are you finding things? educational?" he asked.

Arinana nodded, about to leave when she heard his voice again. "Oh yes, I'm enjoying it a lot actually.. the other lawyers have been so lovely they haven't made me feel at all like I'm lesser than them" she told him with a bright smile, pulling her hair behind her shoulder.

Stanley nodded, "that's good, I'm glad," he said. He watched her, "I uh forgot to uh mention, when we spoke about the trip, maybe you should pack that black dress, just in case," he said lightly.

Ariana looked up at him with a small smile and nodded "No Problem Mr.Penbrooke I'll get it done this evening" she told him with a knowing smile before heading back towards the door. "Oh um actually" she said, turning back before she exited "would it be possible to have a chat with you after work... Not as colleagues?" She asked softly.

Stanley smiled at her and nodded. "Ah of course Ariana, stick around after work, and we can talk," he said lightly. He went back to work, wondering what she was wanting to discuss.

Ari went and got herself a salad before heading back to the office. She sat back down at her desk and reopened the most recent file she had been working on, a frown. Developing over her face. "Excuse me... Did one of you borrow one of the files from my desk by any chance?" She asked sweetly, really hoping she hadn't misplaced it. Ari was so certain she had left it on the top of the pile, she was only a couple of accounts thdough it and the one in front of her was practically completed.

One of the lawyers smiled lightly at her, "Oh sorry, that was me, I worked through a couple of the files on your desk, I needed it for what I was looking into," he said lightly. "You have been doing good work, keep it up," he said softly.

Ariana nodded gently "Thank you" she told him with a gentle smile but it faltered slightly. None the less she sat back down at the desk and began to work through numbers again until her eyes hurt. Before she knew it the men around her were gathering their things and leaving for the leaving. "in going to stay on just for a little bit, I'll see you all tomorrow" she told them kindly.

Once she felt the office had emptied out sufficiently she made her way to Stanley's office.

Stanley continued with his work, it was pretty monotonous. Before long it was late, and the office had emptied out. He looked up hearing a knock on his door, "uh come in," he called through it. He smiled surprised to see Ariana, in still.

Ariana smiled softly as she walked in to his office, taking a seat in the chair across the desk from him. "How was your day?" She asked him kindly, crossing her legs over one another as she twirled her hair o. Her finger, a nervous habit.

Stanley grinned seeing her, "My day was good, how about yours?" he asked softly. He looked her over, taking in her beauty, he really did love how she made him feel.

Ariana gave a soft laugh "Mine was good too. Busy" she added. She was finding herself a lot more tired than usual while she was working here although she didn't mind it too much. "So look... I needed to talk to you about something" she said gently.

Stanley nodded, "I'm glad, you seem to be jumping right in," he said. He shifted in his seat slightly, "Of course, what did you need to talk about?" he asked.

Ariana scratched the back of her neck gently looking up at her. She shifted a little uncomfortably in her chair. Her cheeks flushing pink. "So um, I hate to ask... But would it be possible to maybe increase what your giving me, just for this week?" She asked gently, not quite able to look up at him. She hated to be asking for even more. "it's just I'm working less shifts at the pub and I have to pay somebody to watch my apartment this weekend and things" she started

Stanley watched as she seemed so uncomfortable. He wondered what she was going to ask. He listened to her, and chuckled gently. He stood up, and moved over to her, "of course, I've told you anything you need my love," he said gently. He placed his hand on her cheek, "How much do you need?" he asked softly.

Ariana looked up at him from her seat, thinking for a second. "Oh uhh... I'm sorry to be asking for so much but would $500 dollars be too much? I'm just... I'm going to be down a lot missing my shifts this weekend" she admitted awkwardly, especially knowing that his businesses we're looking money. She needed it for Sophia though, she had decided a long time ago that her daughter would never have to live a shitty life just because she was a single mom.. it's why she worked in the club because it paid so well.

Stanley looked at her and smiled, "$500 is fine, seriously, if you need anything you always know you can ask," he said softly. He took her hands, "I promise the trip will be worth missing some shifts," he told her.
