The hidden beast inside - Closed

Caleb made his way around the castle, just after sun set. He was hoping, praying that he wouldn't change tonight. He headed towards the cell, to check if the gates were locked. He panicked when he saw they weren't.

Suddenly, he felt his change coming over him. He moved into the cells, and slammed the gate. He hurried further in, praying he'd made the right choice of side. He continued shutting gates, as he descended towards her cell. A howl rang out around the castle.

Alma froze when she heard the howl ring out, hurrying to find her way back to the cells. When she finally did she began to sob weakly, terrified that the monster would get her now that she was locked out of the one place that Caleb said she'd be safe. She wondered where he could be, anyway, curious if he had to hide from his master too.

At the bottom of the stairwell, the large lupine beast bashed against the metal gate. The clanging echoing up through the halls. He stalked around on the small landing, making it's way into the bathroom trashing the room.

Alma shrieked when the monster bashed against the gate, covering her mouth and scrambling away from the gate, hiding herself as best she could under a table. She couldn't believe the monster had gotten into her cells, let alone locked in. Had Caleb locked him down there? What had the monster wanted with her, anyway?

Eventually, her tiredness overcame her fear and she ended up falling asleep on the floor, curled up in an attempt to stay warm.

The beast kept pacing the halls around her cells. Scratching at the walls, and smashing the furniture.

After the sun rose, Caleb awoke on the floor of the decimated bathroom. He panicked, as he stood up, in torn clothes. He searched around the cells, praying to not find her body. He calmed down, when he didn't find her.

Alma woke shortly after, rubbing her eyes sleepily as she sat up, groaning a little. When she remembered what had happened the previous night she began to panic again, carefully crawling out from her hiding spot to go back and see if the monster was still in the cells.

Caleb, dusted himself off, and made his way upstairs. He carefully opened the gates as he went. He saw Alma at the top of the stairs, "Alma, I'm glad you are okay," he said softly. He made towards the last gate, "It's probably best, you don't go down there for the day," he said.

He smiled weakly, "would you like something to eat?" he asked.

Alma frowned as she saw him coming up from the cells, looking at him warily. "You... You were down there with it?" She asked cautiously, although she knew it not to be the case.

Caleb looked at her, "uh, yeah, I managed to lock it in the bathroom, for now," he said softly. He made his way out of the corridor, locking the gate behind him. "Come on let get something to eat," he said.

Alma frowned as she watched him, stepping back as he got closer. "Its you... You're the monster." She accused, voice soft as she stared at him with wide eyes.

Caleb looked at her, "no don't be silly," he said lightly. He moved towards the kitchen, "I would never hurt anyone," he said.

"Then take me down to the cells and show me the monster." She frowned, tears leaking down her cheeks as she watched him start to walk away. "You weren't down there last night, but that thing was, and this morning, you're the only one down there."

Caleb paused and looked at her, "It's not safe to show you him, where do you think these rips came from?" he asked referring to his clothes. He kept walking slowly, he hated that she had pieced it together, he wanted to tell her, in his own time.

"I'm not stupid, and I'm not just some thing you can play around with!" She shouted angrily, upset by the fact that he had pretended to be her friend and care for her, when it was him who was keeping her prisoner.

Caleb sighed and looked at her. He moved over to her. "Fine, you want to know everything?" he snapped. He grabbed her hand, and pointed to the scratch on her arm. "I used to be normal, then I got bit by a wolf creature," he said softly. "It's like I told you, I want you to stay here, until I know you're safe," he said.

"Please believe me, I don't want to hurt anyone, you have no idea what it's like," he said.

Alma tried to step back as he approached her, tensing and shrinking down in fear when he grabbed her, tears continuing to leak down her cheeks as she looked up at him in fright. "What if I'm never safe?" She asked softly. She knew he was telling the truth, that he didnt really want to hurt anyone, and that whatever monster was inside of him wasnt really Caleb.. But he obviously couldn't control it, and there was no telling what it would do.

Caleb stared at her, "Well, I certainly hope that one day soon, I'll know that you are safe," he said. He stepped back, "I took me two months turn the first time," he said.

He turned away from her, "Please don't hate me, I didn't want to hurt you, I managed to get it to stop on that first night," he said.

Alma frowned as she looked at him, shaking her head as she hesitated before wrapping her arms around him in a hug. "I... I dont hate you.." she whispered softly, resting her head against his chest.

Caleb nodded softly, and put his arms around her, "thank you," he whispered. He closed his eyes, "It's nice to have someone to talk too," he whispered.

Alma nodded a little as he wrapped his arms around her in return, feeling safe and comfortable in his arms as she snuggled close. "I'll stay as long as you need me to.. I promise." She murmured softly into his shirt, closing her eyes tiredly. The sleep she'd been getting down in the cells was bad enough, but sleeping on the floor last night had been painful.
