Come Find Me

  • Margot blushed as he spoke, biting her lip as she listened to his explanation of everything. He wanted to kiss her. William wanted to kiss her. But then he started to talk about getting ahead of himself, about making promises he couldn't keep, about hurting her and only having ten days...

"Then we have ten days." She stated, slowly stepping closer to take one of his hands in hers, holding it between them as she looked up at him. "After ten days, if you don't want to promise anything then you can leave and we'll both forget about each other... But if you feel this way about someone.. Isn't it worth taking the risk? To see if we could make something out of us?" She asked softly as she looked at him, her eyes still watery with tears, and she felt like she couldn't breathe, terribly nervous he would reject her again. But she had to at least try, considering they both felt the same way about one another after only knowing each other for such as short time, so they might as well give it a shot.

  • "I strongly doubt I'll be able to forget you," Will said, letting out a small sigh of relief that she wasn't cross with him and didn't storm away. He knew this was going to cause them both a whole lot of hurt down the road, but if she wanted to just see what happened during the ten days they had, then he was willing.

He lifted his free hand to cup her cheek, giving her a small smile. He leaned down and pressed his lips gently to her forehead. He moved away from her, putting his hands into his pockets.

"I really am sorry for making you cry," he stated. He was going to try to lighten the mood. They didn't need to spend more time than they had to being serious, or trying to convince each other of their intentions. He wanted things to feel natural, to feel how they would outside of war time. That meant he'd have to do something a little more romantic than making her cry before they could properly kiss. "If you want, I'll allow you to punch me as hard as you'd like as a pay back. One time off, Margot, don't take it lightly."

He had a goofy grin on his face as he spoke, raising his eyebrows at her.

  • Margot smiled a little at him, squeezing his hand a little. "I don't think I'll be able to forget you either, William." She leaned her head into his hand when he cupped her cheek, closing her eyes as he kissed her forehead, savoring the moment with him before he pulled away.

She sniffled a little as she wiped her eyes once more, clearing the last of her tears from her cheeks as she shook her head a little when he apologized. "It's fine.. It's my fault for overreacting.." She waved her hand a little to dismiss the issue as she tugged her shawl around her tighter, although she looked at him in surprise when he said she could punch him as payback, a little smile forming on her face.

"Really...? Are you sure? I don't want to hurt you... Where would I hit you, anyway? Certainly not your face." She asked with a little laugh as they slowly started to walk down the path again, the sun starting to get low on the horizon.

  • "My arm," William suggested as they started walking. "My stomach? A bit further south? Buyers choice, love. You pick, I shall take your punishment without complaint."

He casually put his arm around her shoulders as they walked, like he'd do with any date. He was going to pretend the war wasn't happening, at least while he was with Margot, for as long as he could manage.

"Or if you can think of some other punishment, I'm all ears."

  • Margot hummed a little in thought as he listed out all of her options, giggling a little. "I'll have to think about it. When do I have to make my decision?" She asked curiously, looking up at him as he put his arm around her shoulders, a faint blush creeping up her cheeks as she nudged his side lightly with her elbow teasingly.

"Oh, I know!" She said after a few moments of walking, looking back up at him. "Maman asked me to move some things in the house up to the attic while she and Papa are gone for the next few days, but I'm not sure if I can do it all by myself... Could your punishment be helping me move everything? I know it's boring, but it'd be very helpful.. Plus I can make you dinner if you agree." She offered with a little smile.
    July 4th, 2019 at 06:02am
  • "Your wish is my command," Will said, even though it was a less than ideal punishment. He didn't truthfully want to spend his holiday moving things, but he would do it without complaint if Margot wanted him to. It probably wouldn't be that bad, after all, and he'd enjoy it if he got to spend time with her.

"We should probably just get you home, in the mean time," Will stated. "It's getting dark, and kind of cold. I don't want you to get sick, and seeing as I don't have my jacket, I couldn't exactly help if it gets colder than it is now."
    July 4th, 2019 at 06:07am
  • "I promise it'll go by quickly. It's only a few things, but they're too heavy for me to move by myself. I promise I'll help." She said, pressing a gentle kiss to his cheek as she smiled up at him reassuringly, hoping that he didn't mind too much.

When he mentioned getting back she nodded a little in agreement, shivering a little at a particularly chilly gust of wind, frowning a bit when she heard thunder in the distance, looking around to see how far the storm was. "I didn't know it was supposed to rain... That means the barn will probably flood, and everyone not in the hayloft will be wet.." She frowned, looking up at him. "Where did you set up your things? I'd hate for everything to get soaked.."
    July 4th, 2019 at 06:13am
  • Will let out a small groan as he looked towards their destination, “the ground. Everything is definitely soaked already.”

It would suck, but he was kind of used to those conditions. Before he came here, he’d been stuck in six straight days of rain with little to no cover. It wasn’t something you ever really got used to fully, but you did eventually learn to cope with the shit you were given.

“It’s alright. I’ve slept in worse.”
    July 4th, 2019 at 06:28am
  • Margot frowned a bit when he said that his stuff was on the ground, looking over at he storm clouds. "The storm might not be at my house yet... We could run and try to make it back in time to salvage your things... Even if they are wet, you can bring them inside the house to dry out... As long as you don't tell Maman that I let you in." She offered, tugging his hand a bit to get him to walk faster, not wanting to get caught in a thunderstorm if she could help it. She didn't want to admit it, but she was less than fond of thunderstorms, but she worried he would think she was childish for being afraid of a little thunder and lightning.

"And you can stay the night in the house too, so you won't have to sleep on the wet ground or in the crowded hayloft.. I'll make up the guest bedroom for you, if you'd like. I bet it's been a while since you've slept in a real bed." Margot added, glancing up at him with a little smile. "I bet all of the soldiers would be jealous if they knew you got to sleep in a real bed while they had to sleep in a barn.."
    July 4th, 2019 at 06:33am
  • "Oh, I'd prefer not to run," Will said honestly with a small chuckle as he looked off towards the approaching storm. "I don't mind the wet. If you need, you can take my shirt to cover yourself. I'll be alright being a little cold... And as much as I'd love to stay inside, I'm sure you'd have hell to pay if your parents found out you let a stupid bootie stay alone with you at home while they were gone."
    July 4th, 2019 at 08:32pm
  • Margot frowned a bit as he turned down both her suggestion to run and her invitation to stay inside, giving his hand a little squeeze as she looked up at him nervously. "It'll be fine, they won't be too mad.. Truthfully... Truthfully I'm a bit scared of thunderstorms, and I don't really like the idea of being alone during one.." she admitted softly, blushing a bit as she looked away, tugging her shawl around her after another cool gust of wind. "But you don't have to if you don't want to, I'll manage on my own.. I should get over my little childish fear.."
    July 4th, 2019 at 09:22pm
  • "Alright, I'll meet you in the middle," Will offered. "I'll come inside until the storm is over, then once the thunder and lightning have stopped I'll go back to the barn with the rest of the soldiers, sound good?"

    |He had a probably irrational fear that her parents would come home and she'd be forbidden from speaking to him or the other soldiers - well, other soldiers be damned, he was only worried about himself here. He didn't want to stay too long where he knew he wasn't allowed. It would make for a certain mood killer, and a definite holiday ruiner.

  • Margot looked up at him when he offered to stay until the storm was over, nodding a little. "That sounds fair.. Thank you, William..." She murmured softly, squeezing his hand a little. It wasn't much longer before it began to rain, and soon enough it was pouring. She stuck close to his side, clinging to his arm as they walked quickly along the path, the pair thoroughly soaked by the time they reached her porch.

  • "Well that was an adventure," Will said with a laugh as their feet finally landed on her front porch. He was completely soaked, and he had no other change of clothes. Well, he did, but they were most likely in his bag, wet on the floor of the barn. He'd manage, thought he wasn't sure how to not get her house soaking wet. "How am I going to go inside when I'm this wet. I'll ruin your floor."

A bright flash and a loud crack rang out across the landscape. The storm really was right on top of them.

  • Margot laughed with him, her wet hair clinging to her face and the bottom of her dress splattered with mud from running along the driveway. She slipped her shoes off and set them by the door so she wouldn't track in mud, humming a bit in thought when he asked about how they'd not make a mess. "Hmm.. Take off your shoes and just stay in the doorway while I go get a towel and a change of clothes for you." She said as she opened the door to the house.

She shrieked when she heard the loud crack of thunder and was in his arms in an instant, her face buried in his chest as her fingers gripped his wet shirt. She really didn't like thunderstorms.

  • "Jeez, you weren't kidding there, were you," Will said, giving her a small pat on the back. He slipped off his shoes and gave her a little kiss on the head, stepping back. "I'll be right here, go run and get the towels. You're safe in the house."

He lifted her chin and gave her a small and encouraging smile, nodding into the house.

Margot looked up at him sheepishly when he tilted her chin up, nodding a little as she turned and hurried off into the house. She returned a few minutes later with an armful of towels, passing a few to him before wrapping one around herself to warm up, waving him inside as the storm blew outside.

"Come on, I can start a fire so you can warm up.. I left a change of clothes for you in the bathroom on the counter. I'll be upstairs changing, but I can come back down shortly to make us something to eat and to start the fire." She offered, taking his hand to show him around the little farmhouse, pointing out the bathroom she was talking about as well as the kitchen and the little sitting room where the fireplace was.

  • "Right, thank you," Will said, looking to all the places she'd pointed. He flopped a towel over his head and another around his waist to try to stop the water from seeping out of his pants and onto the floor. He moved quickly into the bathroom where she'd pointed, trying to get the least bit of water through her house.

Once in the bathroom, he quickly stripped out of his wet clothes. He patted himself dry with the towel that was on his head before trying to dry his hair out a bit as well. Once he was a decent level of damp, he pulled on the new pair of trousers she'd left for him. He bundled up his wet clothes and towels and left them in the sink before grabbing the fresh shirt she'd left him. He pulled it over his arms and shoulders, but left it undone, wanting to airdry a bit on front of the fire before he put it on.

He headed out of the bathroom and into the living room where she'd pointed out the fire was.

Once Will had turned into the bathroom she'd hurried upstairs to dry herself off and change out of her wet clothes and into her nightgown, running a towel over her hair to dry it a bit and grabbing her robe before she hurried down the stairs so that she could get the fire going. By the time William came out of the bathroom Margot had gotten the fire started and was still crouched in front of the fire, holding her hands toward the flame as she tried to warm up, still shivering a little from the cold.

She turned to look at him with a little smile when he came out of the bathroom and came over to her, adjusting her robe around her as she stood blushing a little as she noticed his open shirt, looking back toward the fire. "Does everything fit alright? You looked like you were about my brother's size, but I wasn't sure.."
