And the last relationship I had was with Jeremy…” She looked back up at her after a moment, her heart racing in her chest. He had similar conversations with Elena in the past but for some reason discussing it had never bothered him the way talking to Marie was. “I don’t expect you to understand,” he mumbled. “You haven’t killed anyone in cold blood before.”
