Stories with sibling relationships that are realistic.
My brother is extremely protective of me but he's not going to never let me talk to someone I want to date.

Also, just things like siblings bickering but not ruining their relationship. My brother and I literally got into a fight over the TV because I wanted to watch it and he was joking around not letting me watch it and in the end we both agreed nobody would watch it and we both acted butthurt. Few hours later we confronted each other and apologized and agreed it was stupid. Like things like that would really make me smile because one little thing doesn't ruin a sibling relationship.

More characters that have close relationships with their parents/family in general.

It's so rare that family members are even mentioned in a story, and while I personally don't have the most tight-knit family ever, my mama is hands-down my best friend in the whole wide world, and I've never really seen anything like that in online fic.

More main female characters that are just plain middle-of-the-road average:

That aren't tall but aren't short.

That aren't fat but aren't skinny.

That aren't gorgeous but not hideously ugly.

That aren't the life of the party but aren't completely socially inept.

That aren't rich but aren't living on the streets.

That aren't creative but also aren't boring.

That aren't cookie-cutter stereotypes but also aren't these hipster, quirky, unique-special-snowflake bitches that I constantly see in stories.

    Just average. Like me XD

    Seriously, this so much.

I was watching Gilmore Girls today and it made me realize I never seem to find a story where the parent and child get along well. And I don't mean that they can't fight, but just having a good relationship overall, more than having a bad one. It seems so hard to find.

More realistic and comedic romances instead of sappy ones. It would be a nice change.

Focus on character development using show-not-tell.
    STEM characters.
The urge to urinate, eat, stretch, or any other normal human thing characters seem incapable of.

Stories that realistically portray more of the music industry than just the bands. I'd love to see a story about a producer /engineer or a corporate bigwig at one of the labels.
Crime stories that don't revolve around a band being in a gang. Good, old fashioned whodunnit? stories that I can really sink my teeth into and try and guess who's the culprit types of stories.

War stories that don't focus on romance. War stories told from the perspective of countries other than America and the UK. War stories about the civil war in Korea, war stories about heinous war crimes and the people that committed them.

    In short, war stories. Yup.

Characters that are "the chosen one" or "the one" or "the savior" or "the hero" because of their actions and choices, not because of destiny or something else that's supposedly predetermined.

This. So much. That's what I'm trying to accomplish with Équinoxe.

Characters who are over the age of twenty, with an established and stable career and a stolid mindset. You see too many teenage oddballs; it'd be a nice change to read more about people old enough to have learned what it is to be odd.

Stories that are so developed that even minor characters are well developed and the little things in a story don't go unnoticed. When you see an author put in effort into a story, it's so obvious and it's really nice to see authors who've gone that extra mile.

More stories branching off from the cliche contemporary romance plot-line of girl-meets-boy with some added drama. Stuff like paranormal romance and stories that have a romantic subplot.

Stories that don't adhere to the "norm" on Mibba. It's always nice to come across something that feels fresh instead of the same story that's been written a million times with different characters.

And yet still I get <20 readers per story. XD I wish more people thought like this, I'd get a lot more feedback.

Oh, I totally agree. I typically write what I myself would enjoy reading, which generally lies outside the norm. I think the fact that the search system on here isn't as efficient as story searches on other sites probably lends to that since it's so much more difficult to find what you're really looking for without having to sort through pages and pages of what you're NOT looking for,

Exactly. I write what I love, and most of the comments I get when I do get them are people mentioning that it's unusual or in a vague genre. People don't subscribe to my stuff because it's not about love or drugs or sex or violence, but that's just fine.
