I can understand it in a situation like that, I just meant when they don't want to be called "feminist" at all.

If my wanting to be able to do anything a man can do makes me a feminist, then I'll wear the title proudly. I don't want to apply for a job and be rejected because I'm considered inferior.

Speaking from a male perspective, I need feminism because MRAs are too busy shitting on feminism to give a damn about anything pertaining to men while the tearing down of societal patriarchy is beneficial to everyone.

Yess. 'Mens Rights Activists' hang out on Reddit all day long shooting down women and not lifting a finger to help the cause they're supposedly part of - because if they even bothered to look at the real issues men face, they'd realise those issues are a part of feminism and would be benefitted by no parichay and no horrendous gender roles. Like the issues of disabled men, men receiving longer jail sentences for equal crimes etc.

Anyway, I'm a intersectional radical feminist, and proud to be Coffee

I need feminism because we have to many Equalists thinking they're doing the work that needs to be done when they're really just assuming everyone has the same privileges and, therefore, the same steps to fix their problems. Bring everyone to the same playing field and Equalism will work. But not before then

What makes you think all equalists assume everyone is starting out with the same privileges rather than wanting everyone to start out with the same privileges?

I will clarify. Equalists I have encountered assume people have the same
    Privileges.

My experience is with Equalists within the feminist community they try to derail conversations because feminists are sexist and only care about women. Some of them are MRAs in disguise.

It would be nice to speak to an equalist on how they intend to fix feminist issues but it's never happened for me. Usually it's focusing on how we can make things better for men and that angers me.

Those people are really unhelpful to the conversation, although honestly stuff like that is why I'm wary about using labels at all during conversations about rights. Most of the conversations I've had with feminists have been bad ones. It's been about bashing men or ignoring the trans community (only going for 'real' women) and the feminists and equalists that miss the point of both things just make the entire thing more frustrating to talk about. I want things fixed for people in general, which makes things rather complicated and sometimes a little overwhelming to think about since the world is kind of effed up sometimes.

I stay away from tumblr and only follow trans inclusive pages on Facebook so I only see the crazies when articles are posted about them. I also try to follow feminist pages run by women of color from different parts of the world. One of the pages is also run by a man who likes to let women speak about their rights.

So I live in a little bubble if intersectional feminism and it is very hard for me to understand there are still crazies out there calling themselves feminists because I never see them.

But I don't think I could bring myself to go to tumblr and see what all the fuss is about. I like to focus on articles and things actually occurring so I wouldn't want to read feminist rants anyway, no matter what type of feminist.

I need feminism because some guy thought it was okay to come ask my boyfriend if I had put on a few pounds or just pregnant yesterday.

Like, wrong on so many levels. Body policing. Asking a man about my body. Asking this in public because we just exist in public but it's a men's space.

This guy isn't even into girls and that just almost makes me angrier.

lololol what? Why would he ask your boyfriend? Like, you're not his pet. It's not like he overfed you yesterday and then forgot to take you for a walk.

A bunch of men who run a page against police violence think making catcalling illegal is a violation of freedom of speech. Because men have the right to harass women.

Technically speaking it would be. It's not technically a threat or technically hate speech, and even those things are sometimes protected under freedom of speech. After all, the WBC are able to call out all the shit they want to, and it is protected speech, so I'm not sure how 'catcalling' would be made illegal or even policed in any way.

We must be talking about catcalling in a different way because I'm not sure how it isn't threatening or harassing. I would think that one could technically make it a hate crime since it's being done to women and LGBT people over men. Tht means a particular group is being targeted due to gender or gender preference. And lots of catcalls are threatening.

How are you defining catcalling? I mean just like, calling out to a person in general. "Lookin' good, mama!" being shouted is obnoxious as hell, but I don't see how it's threatening.

Catcalling varies from what you said to "nice tits" to a guy hanging out his window and barking at me. It can start with a hello and escalate into "you're too good to talk to me bitch". It's hard to define, but in this context I consider it when a man feels the need to comment on a woman because we are existing in public space.
