Yes I think music can save lives. I really believe that. Example: a suicidal person might stop and think about their favorite song and that song moght save them. I have friends who wanted to kill themselves but listening to their favorite songs helped them ALOT. Think about it. When your favorite song comes on the radio how do you feel? You feel excited and ready to take on the world it's like while that song is on everything is perfect. Nothing cam go wrong.

Music saves lives everyday. If I didn't stumble across some of the music I listen to that explained my feelings so perfectly idk where I'd be..

I also believe in the healing power of music. Music has done things for me than humans, psychiatric help, and medicine cannot or have not. However, I do not believe music or bands save lives. I believe they give you the power to save your own.

I believe music and certain bands can save lives because i have been through tough times where i've wanted to end it all. I would personally like to thank the band Simple Plan for writting songs such as Welcome To My Life and Untitled because they are the songs that I listen to whenever I feel like I don't belong anymore. Bands and music can save lives because no matter what is happening, you are not the only one who is/or was struggling.

But how does the band save your life literally? I would think the band would make you feel like you're not alone and that would comfort you, but I don't think they pulled the gun out of anyone's hand.

They've stopped me from taking my own life. They've made me realise no matter how much of a shitty day, week or month I've had that there is actually more to life that comitting suicide. I'm grateful for them being together and for them as people to support the fans in any which way they can.

That's the same with me...I was listening to welcome to my life by Simple Plan when I was going to commit suicide and then I started to think "no what's the point in doing it? My life can get better even though it's shitty right now" and tbh my life is much better now and all because I was listening to a Simple Plan song to stop myself...If I took my life then I wouldn't have met my partner (you :D :P) or anything like that.

Can bands save lives? I can only speak for myself on this. Cause I'm just one person. another might not react as i do to any given thing. So they might not react as i did. Maybe to them it's "only" music. "Just a band".
But, for me, yes, a band can and did save at least one life. Mine!
When the dark side of life gets to much, everythings going wrong & your wonder WHY go on? You've got the blade/drug/booze/whatever your choice is right there.
It'd be so easy to just...do it.
I was just beyond that level of thinking. Then a song came on. One I'd never herd before but it stopped me for somereason and I began to really hear the lyrics. They spoke of remebering your not alone even when you fell so very alone. They spok of not bleeding that night..It was a ride in my mind,so to speak.
I don't know to this day why it was but I herd those words...I tossed the blade& flushed the pills.
I'm here today. And I'd vow it to God himself, it's due to this band and a lyric that wouldn't let me go.
So, after all that long winded stuff? yeah a band can save a life.

I think you're at completely different ends of the spectrum. I don't think either of those things, so I find this statement misleading. I don't believe that it's all "just music" or "only a band", but I don't believe bands save lives. I believe they give you the power to save your own. I think people are just too scared to accept they have that power within themselves so they turn it over to a band. It's easier to be grateful to someone for saving your life than to admit you can do it yourself; then you're accountable.

I used to give all the credit for me being alive to my favourite bands, but the thing is they didn't save me. They might have given some encouraging words and some uplifting songs, but they didn't save me. I saved me, and I'm not going to give anybody else credit for that. I saved myself and I'm damn proud of it.

I'm with general consensus that bands don't physically save your life but they give you the push to help yourself. I know that This Providence and Say Anything's music helped me through a lot of shit, and I credit them for helping me save my own life. If that makes any sense at all.

Nope. I think bands just help you a little. I think, just as everyone else has said, only you have the power to save yourself. In what way can bands help? They may only prolong you from doing something harmful.

In my opinion bands can save lives. As you can tell by my user name music has saved me. I know from personal experience that music is really helpful when it comes to life saving.
I was in a totally horrible place in my life and truly wanted to die but the bands I found and began listening to put my feelings into amazing art and made me feel like I was not alone. The multiple bands made me feel like someone understood me and they all in some way said told me I could make it through anything. The bands weren't there physically but they did make me stop and say "If they made it through all that then so can I because they understand even if no one else does."
So yes I do believe that bands can save lives because they have for me, many times in fact.

As corny as it sounds, Andy Biersack saved me. Not necissarily all of Black Veil Brides, but Andy specifically because I spoke to him personally all the time on Myspace (yes, it was that long ago) and he was always so inspirational towards me. Even when I met him in person, he was this charismatic, almost inspirational speaker. His music also helped me, but he himself helped me help myself out of an abusive relationship that was literally killing me. This June it'll have have been 3 years since I got out.

Why no, physically I do not think that music and bands can save you, mentally and emotionally they most certainly can.

I think "really helpful" and "literally saved my life" are two very different things. Music can help, but it doesn't literally save you from dying.

I personally do not think that bands can save people's lives. Can they influence them? Hell yea! But can they physically stop you from hurting yourself? No, not really.

Bands can inspire people to stop hurting themselves, but that is a choice you make. Bands can only lead you to the front door of happiness. You yourself, have to be brave enough to open the door and take matters into your own hands.

Even when fans meet their idols and they say inspirational words and such, and they promise them they won't cut themselves or things like that. They may have asked you to make the commitment, but you are the one who keeps it.
