I don't want to write without a mian plot...but my characters...my OF characters...they're already living and are giving me names and places but no plot...they're annyoing me at the moment. In fact one of my main male character's is annoying me right now...he's telling me about this person that I really can't flesh out...because he's only giving me hints. It's annoying

I don't want to write like JK Rowling. I mean, I love the Harry Potter books, but that juxtaposition of humor (and not twisted humor) with drama and whatnot... I can't pull that off. I don't want to write like that because it would be the most horrible thing you could imagine. :XD I'm just not funny in my writing. :S I'm doing one story now that I want to have black comedy in it and even that is super hard for me.

I don't ever want to write a slash story, or a femmeslash. I'm not homophobic, but it just isn't for me. I used to read slash, but I can't even read that now. It just doesn't hold my attention at all, no matter how well written it is.

I don't want to write a Ger-Z. I was going to, but I changed my mind. I love Gerard and Lyn-z, but to read about them through the minds of 12-16 year olds disturbs me.

I don't want to write like a ditzy teen, I want intelligence in my work.
I don't want to sound like any other writer, even if I do use some cliche themes, I want them to stand out because of the way I write.

I don't want to write anything to do with vampires :lmfao
I don't want to write fanfiction ever. No offence to those that do write it, it's just never been my forté, and never will be.

I can't STAND having a plan. I just hate it. I'd rather just go with the flow and see if any new ideas come my way. However, it makes me want to scream when people say something like the main character lives in Alaska and two installments later they're living in Texas! That just shows the writer clearly hasn't thought it out AT ALL.

I don't want to write with a bunch of metaphors and intrinsic words when it's not necessary.

    ---

Also, this isn't a thread for things you don't want to write, but how you don't want to write. We have a thread for things you don't want to write here.

I want to sound... intelligent, I guess... when
I write so I try to use one new word in a story
or at least a word I have yet to use.

I want to be able to hear my own voice when
I read my own work but... I just don't "hear"
myself. If that makes any sense.

And, I have to admit that I almost never write
with a fully planned story in mind. I kinda just
place my hand on the keyboard and I "type-vomit"
    until my hand hurts. Cute

I really don't want to ever rush something. If something needs to happen quickly that's fine, but I always want the pace to be natural.

I don't want to write sloppily and imply things without knowing I am.

I don't want to write like Anne Rice. I mean, for those who like her work, she's fantastic. I own a lot of her books myself. But since I discovered authors like Poppy Z Brite and John Ajvide Lindqvist, her stuff just lost all its lustre to me. I just find the way she writes very... bland. I've tried to read The Vampire Chronicles many a time and I just find it extremely hard to read, like there's nothing really keeping me held and reading it. I don't want to write like that because I want people to want to read it, to want to finish it and whatnot.

[I don't have anything against Anne Rice, this is just my own personal opinion. I'm finicky, and yeah. Shifty]

I wouldn't want to write like the rest of the Vampire Chronicles, but I'd be very pleased with Interview With The Vampire. To me, I don't care for her not because of her style, but because her stories seem to end up with far too much on their plates and after a while it seemed to be just shock value. Especially her witches series.

Firstly, I don't ever want to write without a plan. I've seen so many plots made up as the story progresses and its confusing. It goes nowhere, the story never ends, it's shitty. And I learned from my first story that prewriting is a must. For me, at least.

    Et vous?
I never used to write with a plan, but the result of no plan is best demonstrated by my fic You Don't Mean Anything, lol. It's three years old, 80 chapters long and not finished.

I don't write detailed plans, but I do at least know where I want my stories to end.

I never want to have a true outline unless it's for NaNoWriMo. I had a really hard time sticking to the one I made this year for NaNo and I think it... crushes my spontanious thoughts. Rigidity crushes flow for me, and I think that's why I can't write essays XD

I don't ever want an outline either. I didn't even have one for NaNo.

I don't want to write solely to please others; if it results in
me being unhappy with writing it, that's the end of the road.

I don't want to write like anyone else. I want to develop my own style.
Praise and accolades on writing like a certain author is great
but it's just an unnecessary crutch to lean on.

I don't want to write without ever experiencing what the
characters are going through or empathizing with them.

I never want to write something I don't want to write.
I've tried to before, and it came out extremely shitty.
I can't write without wanting to.

I would never want to write about someone who's just like me. I mean, there will always me pieces of me and my life in my writing, that's inevitable. But for me, there's no fun in writing unless I get to pretend to be someone else, and learn what it's like to live in their shoes.

Then again, I would never want to write something that is completely emotionally detached from the characters. I have to be able to feel what the characters are feeling, otherwise it's not worth reading.

My thoughts exactly. I never want to write about someone that's like me because, for me, it takes away from the story and I don't have as much fun with it.
I never want my writing style to be like someone else's, no matter who the person is. I want to write in my own style. Also, I don't want to be associated with just one particular writing style. I want my writing styles to vary, but still not be compared to other people's. I want to have the freedom to change and tweek and tinker with the way I write while still having it be my style of writing.
