I think the term 'OCD' is overused by people who don't fully understand it.
I have a friend and she constantly tells everyone about her 'OCD', thinking she sounds cooler with it. What she doesn't understand is sometimes OCD can be quite serious and it's not really something to joke about with.

I have a feeling that everyone has some sort of OCD when it comes to something, even if it's very mild. You know what I mean? Not the serious kind, it's just that it seems that everyone has to do this or that when it comes to something, or it drives them crazy if _______.

    Five.
I have to blink five times at something.
Tap the doors five times before I got out.
Swapy my hands over under the taps five times when I wash them.
If cough, it has to be five times.
If I scratch one hand, I have to scratch the other ... that's right, five times.

    Four.
I have to say the same prayer four times before I go to bed.

And things have to look just right before I can leave a room. Took me throty minutes to walk from one end of my bedroom to the other once. I share my bedroom with three sisters, Niamh, Caoimhe and Mairead, and they always yell at me for moving heir stuff. I'm like; "But it doesn't look right!"

I think that there's a little bit of OCD in all of us.

I have a slight OCD problem. I usually have to have an even number of hair ties on ym wrists. If I have an odd number it feels really uncomfortable. I'd usually put it away in my pocket or tie my hair with it if there's an odd number.

I eat things in even numbers. Oreo's gummy worms, gum, almost anything.
If it's something like peas or scrambled eggs then I just have to forget about it because there's no way I'm gonna take time out just to count that.

But I don't think mine is enough for me to actually say it's OCD or something to worry about.

I think I may have OCD. (my friends think i do)Here are some of my habits:

If I feel like I have been dominating my right or left side of my body then I have to use both sides evenly.

If people chew with thier mouth open I have to ask them to chew with it closed. And if they foret I ask them again. And again. And again. My friends get so so mad at me.

I think about things obbsesivly, like I over analyze.

Im sanatizing my hands constantly, (my friends think im a germaphobe)

I won't eat anything that another person has directly touched.

Im diagnosed OCD. I lean more towards the hoarding and ritualising side of things. Because I hoard things - useless things, normally for four or five years, and never use them - it makes being obsessed with tidyness out of the question, but I do obsessively clean, especially at other people's houses. I can stand mess, just not dirt.

I have rituals regarding most things - equality, syllables, orders of things, etc.

But my OCD isn't bad enough that I want to medicate it. I'm already on antidepressants and I may have to switch to bifferent meds soon for my bipolar, and those will already be hardcore. My OCD almost feels like a part of me, and I dont mind it, so I'm not going to any great lengths to stop it, especially not serious medication that I could easily become dependant on.

However, if you do want help, I'd reccomend seeing your school psychologist, if you have one, or a social worker or something of that variety. Try psychology first, rather than psychiatry - my psychologist helped me to break a lot of my rituals. If that doesnt work, then there's a whole host of things you could try; group therapy, hipnosis, etc., before you move onto drugs.

I only say this because I'm already addicted to my antidepressants, as is my father, and we're only on fluoxetine. More hardcore drugs, like OCD medication, are not only hyper addictive, but can reeeaaaally mess you up.

Also, where do you live? Because my family are... not too well off, to put it lightly. If you live in Australia, I know of alllll kind of government subsidies that can make you feel less guilty about costs :cute:

    :arms: good luck.

Also, I must point this out, and its not directed at anyone in particular
remember, it's not I have OCD, it's I THINK I have OCD, unless you're diagnosed by a psychiatrist.

Believe me, misdiagnosing yourself is nooootttt a good idea. Take it from the champion ^_^

I know I have (minor) OCD just because it runs in the family and people always ask me if I am. I guess all of that stuff applies to me except for panic. I never panic.

I used to have a real problem with germs.
And people sitting on my bed.

    It was weird.
I would have clothes that I wore out, and clothes that I wore at home.
At the door I would change them, before scrubbing my arms with strong soap.
If someone wanted to touch me, they HAD to be clean, or else I would freak.
I was convinced the whole world was dirty, and we were all going to die.

    --

    I'm over it now.
I can't really remember what happened, because it was in a part of my life where I was on hardcore meds, and can't remember much. Sad

    My writing must be neat.
My CDs must be arranged alphabetically by artist and then chronologically within artist.
My iTunes has to be perfect. My hands and teeth must be clean.
There's more, I just can't think of them at the moment.

    I agree.
I've been diagnosed with it, and my family has this weird history of it, too.
There are lots of different forms, and I got stuck with having a severe phobia that controls many, many aspects of my life. Not "cool" at all...

    I do that too.
I have most of my CDs in a rack (most, because I have more than it can fit) and I have to reorganize them all when I get a new CD.

I think I'm getting a bit better at controlling uh..."obsessive" tendencies I guess. I used to have a whole routine before I went to bed, but I've managed to shorten it without freaking out.

But I still pull on my hair and count things. I'm not obsessed with cleanliness but if I am cleaning something, it has to be absolutely clean.

I don't think anybody can have OCD without being diagnosed with an anxiety/panic disorder first. It just doesn't work like that. Every individual with OCD has a rooting anxiety problem.

I hate touching things other people have touched their with dirty hands.
Like in public toilets I refuse to touch the lock, I have to roll my sleeve up.
Same with stair banisters in public places aswell. Even if there's a risk I fall down them. :lmfao
I won't go up stairs with gaps under them. If you know what I mean?
I don't like when someones sitting next to me, and our shoulders are touching or something. I hate that
I hate people touching my feet, or if someones touching my bare feet with their bare feet.
My mum does that all the time and it pisses me off. heh.
Everything has to be balanced out xD

When I'm in a car or on a bus, I have to curl my toes when I pass a tree. And If I miss one, or they're going past too fast I keep my toes curled for ages to compensate :lmfao
