To Ink or not to Ink?

  • I would really like to get a tattoo but I want to wait until I have something meaningful and something with a story behind it.
Plus I'm afraid of needles but getting a tattoo is something I really want so I think I'll just suck it up and take it like a man.

  • My grandpa had tattoos from the military and my parents said he regretted them.

But if it's something you really want you won't regret it, right?

  • ^ Unless it's something you really really want at the time. But then 40 years down the line it doesn't really mean much.
Like, getting your childhood sweethearts name tattoed on you. If they break your heart you wouldn't really want their name still on you.

  • or a band tattoo/lyric ... though I suppose those things as well as names can still hold meanings and memories etc etc

  • I love tattoos. My parents are fine with them and everything, so I can have on on my 18th birthday I think.

My mum has four I think. One was when I was sitting on the floor, doodling stars on her foot (like ya do) and then she liked it and decided to get it tattooed on. It was for her 20th wedding anniversary, there are 17 black stars, and 3 red. The red ones are because she has three children and all XD

I would like to get Merci Pour Le Venin on my lower back. But iN a really nice font, so it doesn't look all shitty. More so it looks like a pattern then words maybe, so it's elegant and I won't get sick of it.

I'd also like a UV tattoo... but I have no idea where does them...

  • I think lyrics and band logos and stuff are a great thing 'cause that lyric will always hold some meaning to you 19 years old or 99 years old.

I think, and I maybe wrong, hearing something about UV tattoos being banned ...? Alot of artist refuse to work with the UV ink because of the side effects, but I don't think a test has been done as to whether it's cancerous or not, anyone else heard anything?

  • UV tattoos... I just looked that up and that's kinda creepy... and kinda cool. o_o
I wouldn't want one, but they're fun to look at. :tehe:

Anway, we were talking about tats in the Green Day thread a couple of days ago, and it really got me thinking. Right now, if I could get a tattoo, it would be three stars (one red, one yellow, one blue), like the one on Billie Joe's upper arm. I've decided that when I turn 18 and still love Green Day, or even the idea of the tattoo, I'm getting it.
I mean, stars aren't necessarily as representative of a band than a band logo, for example, but they hold some significance to the band, I suppose. And I've loved stars before GD. -shrug-

Sometimes I think it's tacky when people have really bad tattoos of the AI hand grenade. :shifty It just looks.. eurgh.

  • I think it's a bit over used. Like so many people have a heartagram and I totally get that cause obviously they love the band and such, but I'd so much rather get a tattoo that noone else has.

I guess but the band only has one symbol and I guess you could make it special by adding bits around it but you can't do much with it.

I've seen folk with the heart grenades and it just looks strange. Cause sometime its isn't in the proper alignment if you get what I mean.

  • I'm all for tattoos!
I know people say that you should be sure before you get them, but I live every day like it's my last.
I got two tattoos done when I was fourteen.

I think that's a lovely placing for a small and feminine design, I will definitely get one there at some point.

Not really an issue for me, got my wrists done already

I guess those might be a problem when I graduate from uni and get a 'proper job', but with my current part time job they have no issues with tattoos and piercings so it's cool. I guess I can wear a watch and bracelet for any interviews in the future.

What do you have on your wrists?

Mine aren't a problem either, my back and thigh. :)
