I like pop. I listen to Jesse McCartney to All Time Low to Akon. (:

Except I hate Coldplay. No idea why though, the band just annoys me.

I like almost every type. I'm big on the broad alternative genre, as well as R&B, rap, some country and pop. I'm not a big fan of metal or hardcore (but I do like some, like VANNA), or opera, or like...blue grass. Despite what people think, not every Southerner likes that kind of music. :coffee:

I listen to the Backstreet Boys. ~~
And the Used. And Lil' Wayne.

I don't like Coldplay, either. :shifty Or Franz Ferdinand.
Nothing against their fans, but they've just never been my cup of tea.

I have a really bad habit of judging new bands before I've even listened to them.
I'm really set in my ways about my taste in music, and I can say without thinking who my favourite bands are - my chemical romance, the academy is, taking back sunday, cobra starship, the used - but I should probably start listening to some newer bands because I'd probably like them if I gave them a chance.

I usually listen to the rock genre. I sort of go everywhere with that thought. I like All Time Low, all the way to a band like NausicaA, and then to the newer bands that are coming out. I just enjoy rock greatly.
I think I only like one rap song, and the Backstreet Boys are still cool to me. Smiley

I sometimes hate when artists take old good rock music by older bands and try to 'modernize' them. I think after they do that, it pretty much sucks cause the old stuff were classics.
Trust me, I'm not a total fan of Guns'n Roses, or Metallica, or any of those kind, but I have enough decency to say Thank You to them or else we would all be stuck with....nothing! And plus I wasn't born in that time period, but still. lol

But I also hate that people start listening to bands once they come out into the public and say "I was their fan all the way from the beginning." Its like WTH?
Plus when bands convert and change their music even though they were really good.
Like All Time Low. Really good, then kind of..I don't know became to regular.
All this is my opinion. Please don't bash me because you didn't like what I said.

I really can't stand all these new songs that are coming out where the voices are completely morphed and way to echoey and technoish sounding. Especially when it's totally random, and completely off-genre.

I'm a little obsessed with All Time Low, but I like a lot of other stuff too. The only genre I would never even think of listening to is country (yes, that means Taylor Swift) It's just yuck.

When people ask me about my music taste I always say that I listen to Johnny Cash, Mindless Self Indulgence, and everything in between. I find beauty in all music. Of course there are genre's that I don't love everything about. With rap it's how it's filled with profanity and a lot of it is just about sex. It's degrading to women. I often like the beat, though. When it comes to country, I don't like how it's very melancholy, or it kind of fits a stereotype of what people fit it into. What I do like is how it tells stories.

I also happened to love My Chemical Romance/The Used cover of 'Under Pressure'. I found it beautiful. I don't understand why people think that when bands cover songs it's because they're trying to 'modernize' it. It's because the song meant something to the artist and the artist wanted to give a sort of tribute to the song's original artist.

(I hope no one found this to be a personal attack on anyone's part.)

I listen to pretty much everything. Mostly rock, metal, and alternative. Least I listen to country, not that don't like it, just haven't found something that amazes me yet.

I don't believe rap is a form of music. A form of expression yes, but not music. There is no way that repeating the same phrase a hundred times could be considered a song.

The only rap that I listen to (rarely) is Eminem. No, not because he's white. It's just intriguing and some of his lyrics are actually meaningful. Kanye West and Sean Kingston are also mildly approved, but that is where I draw the line. Most rappers degrade women and curse in every single line, I'm sorry, but that, to me is not music. I don't mind other people listening to it, but just as long as my ears are not tortured as well.

I listen to Bach, Vivaldi, Tchaikovsky and Beethoven. Mozart too, sometimes.

Basically my life. I listen to it at school, at home, at the mall, in the car, when I sleep. Basically every second of every minute of every hour of every day.

My favorite bands are Linkin Park, Green Day, and Avanged Sevenfold. I also love Paramore and Evanescence. I'm a fan of the classics too, and by that I mean Metallica, GnR, and Pantera, Iron Maiden, and many many others. I've practically grown up with KISS, The Sex Pistols, and AC/DC. My dad likes his fair share of rock n' roll.

It comes as a major surprise to people that I dislike The Beatles. I do like a few of their songs, but mostly I can't stand to listen to them, it's just something about their music that bugs the life out of me...

I also enjoy Eric Clapton, John Lennon, Elton John, Lenny Kravitz, Queen, and other old people that are about to fuckin' die anytime in the next few years. I love Michael Jackson, I own every CD he's ever made, and that's not because he just died and I was curious, I've had them since forever. The man is a legend.

I like The Cure, U2, and The Police. I don't mind Aerosmith too much. Whitesnake, Pink Floyd and Scorpions are also good. I have CDs by Velvet Revolver, Kansas, Rolling Stones, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Slayer. God, my house is better stacked than a freakin' music store. For people who move around a lot we sure have quite a few things we never leave behind. Jeez....

I also like contemporary artists like Pink, Panic At The Disco, No Doubt, Fall Out Boy and, Alice in Chains, Nine Inch Nails, Nirvana, Slayer, Marilyn Manson, Jane's Addiction, MCR, Savage Garden, Incubus, Good Charlotte, and many many others.

To summerize I love all kinds of music, but I mainly stick to the general rock genre. I despise rap with all my being, but I do allow one or two tracks to appear on my iPod.

Concerts: Metallica, Paramore, Green Day, Linkin Park, Queen, Fall Out Boy, Marilyn Manson, Elton John, Taylor Swift, t.A.T.u., Pink Floyd, MCR, No Doubt
Tours: Projekt Revolution x2, Warped Tour x3, Lollapalooza x1

This is almost directly copied from my profile, with a few added bonuses. ^.^

I can understand you disliking rap - that's a matter of personal opinion - because I know, like all genres, rap isn't for everybody. But music is defined on dictionary.com as "an art of sound in time that expresses ideas and emotions in significant forms through the elements of rhythm, melody, harmony, and color", and this, of course, applies to rap. If a rapper talks about how me he wants to "tap those bitches", he's still expressing his emotions through elements of rhythm, melody, harmony, and color.

Not all rappers "degrade women and curse in every line", in fact, I wouldn't even say most rappers do. I'll admit that a lot of mainstream rap revolves around sex and drugs and the gang lifestyle, but you know, so does a lot of rock. Rap, as a whole, is a huge genre. There are so many artists that perform under it, so many great ones as well. Run-D.M.C. for instance, they were a rather tame band, and they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame just recently, I think. Nas, another excellent rapper, was always against the sexualization of rap and while he's had some controversial songs, I think he's an excellent role model.

Like I said, I can understand not liking rap, but it is music. Influential music that's gathered a huge following and includes a lot of good artists who have a lot of great things to say.

My music is basically all over the place, and what I listen to depends on the mood I'm in. Right now I'm mellowed out and listening to Jimmy Eat World. This morning it Rascal Flatts.

A lot of dance songs are comprised of very few phrases that are repeated over and over. It's not like it's just rap.

I listen to stuff like Smashing Pumpkins, Nirvana, Hole, The Dresden Dolls, Marilyn Manson, Veruca Salt, Sonic Youth, The Offspring, etc. I guess rock, mostly.

And I like pop like Sam Sparro and Mika. I love Christina Aguilera's voice but don't listen to her music a lot.
