One of my favorite poets, his work was incredible.

Honestly? Joan of Arc wasn't my favorite. xD I just see that name a lot.
I think, and I hate to not be very original here, but Einstien and Shakespeare (sp).
Everyone says, Oh yeah, Romeo and Juliet, but do you actually think about how big of an advance that was in creation of stories, plays, etc.
Einstien, this guy does not get enough credit for all he did. And if you can't think that, think of his inspiring words. :p

Shakespeare. Needless to say, really.

François-Marie Arouet or Voltaire. He stood up for what he believed to be right through satire to the point of becoming an enemy to the church and the King. He was a genius in what he did.

Da Vinci, Michelangelo, Raphael. Obvious reasons.

John F. Kennedy. He was a great president :D

Edgar Allen Poe. His poems shaped poetry for the rest of eternity. Although his family and personal life was a little messed up (he married his cousin, his family left him, and he was adopted by the Poes just to leave them later on), he's a very essential part of poetrys history.
