MM Reviews: The Forbidden Fruit

Genre: Romance | Drama | Tragedy
Type: Original Fiction
Length: Chaptered
Rating: R

Someone of his social standing is not allowed to be seen with a servant girl. Society views a romantic relationship between a servant and her master as taboo. They can only be mistresses and nothing more. She can never be his one and only, no matter how much she wishes for it........but love knows no boundaries.

Most of the stories found on Mibba are set in the modern era. They often regard trouble in the lives of teens or young adults who have to deal with relationship problems or drug addictions. Although this is not a bad thing, it leads to a shortage of stories that are set in past time periods. One of these rare and unique stories is The Forbidden Fruit by ebony_goddess.

Set in late nineteenth century England, the story is told in first person by Elise Crofton. An eighteen year old peasant living in Winchester, Elise loses her parents and most of her younger siblings to the tuberculosis outbreak, all except for Albert and Gwendolyn. After losing her job as well, Elise is forced to become the mistress of the notorious Darius Rutherford which leads to her life beginning to spiral out of control.

The Forbidden Fruit is highly recommended for those in the mood for something new and different as well as getting a history lesson. It is very well written and full of detail and it is even told with some older language to give the story more effect. Ebony_goddess is a master of making the story come to life and making the characters seem almost real.

Much thanks to tabula rasa. and aubs for editing!
