Sugar's naivety adds a boost of hilarity to something that could easily be a sombre tale of self-discovery -- with the help (see: enablement) of friend, Peeps, who encourages him to "test" his homosexuality, dirty magazines he steals from the store, and the hunky Finn Ferguson who has his heart in flutters, we learn to love the quirky, unsure Sugar as he explores this new development in his life.
