MM Reviews: The Girl Who Wept

Rating: PG-13
Type: Fan Fiction

A stunningly well written two-shot for the Dr. Who fandom. Mysterious and emotional – It has all the hallmarks of a wonderful short story sure to enchant those within and outside the fandom. The author has done an amazing job of simplifying the fandom, So even those who have previously had no experience within it are still able to follow the story and appreciate the plot.

Summary: The Doctor lands the Tardis near a beautiful old mansion, and out of boredom his companion, Rose, goes for a look inside, making sure she stays out of trouble. The Doctor follows, and there they discover a girl.

The vivid imagery and somewhat creepy undertones in this piece bring it to life before your eyes. We learn about the mysterious little girl and how she came to be where she is now. Who is this girl, and why is the statue so interested in her? The author does a brilliant job of releasing the information about the little girl in small tidbits, keeping you on the edge of your seat the whole time.

Excerpt: “Oh my god, they’re looking at us!” Rose squeaked.

“Yes, well done, but they haven’t moved! Why?!” The Doctor pointed his sonic screwdriver at each of them warily.

“I can answer that question if you’d like,” a new voice spoke up and The Doctor and Rose glanced toward the direction of the soft voice.

The layout is easy on the eyes, and the banner fits perfectly into the atmosphere of the story, only adding more to the overall imagery. I recommend this short story to anybody who loves short mysterious tales and the world of The Doctor. I personally hope to see a sequel or chaptered version of this story in the future – It's a very enchanting tale, one that leaves more questions than answers, allowing your mind to run wild with possibilities. Do you dare enter the world of The Doctor? If so, This two-shot is a wonderful way to kick off your love affair with the fandom!
