MM Reviews: The Good Life

Type: Fan Fiction
Rating: R
Genre: Drama | Adventure | Teen

Brian Haner Jr. has the good life; Eden Williams has anything but.

He gets to go on stage and play guitar in a band with his best friends every night in front of thousands of people. He has the perfect wife, perfect dog, perfect house, and perfect family. Brian slowly starts to realize that something is missing in his life and he's not sure what it is until he meets Eden.

This great story starts off with a nice, small prologue that gives you a good feel for this touching tale. The Good Life follows the story of Eden Williams, the daughter of Brian Haner Jr.. After her mother gives her up for adoption, she is unable to be placed with a new family due to some medical problems. Now, at the ripe age of 15, she wants to be emancipated so she can get out of the foster care system. To do this, she must track down her parents and have them sign the necessary paper work. In the first chapter, we see Eden googling her father's name only to find out that he's a famous guitar player, and that's where the real journey begins.

Even though, to some, the plot may seem cliché, don't be fooled, this story is definitely worth reading. Madam Shadows; brings in a lot of originality through her writing style, her well-thought-out original and pre-existing characters, and her great attention to detail. Her portrayal of Eden's fight to find her parents and the obstacles she faces is raw and heartbreaking. Although the story is only three chapters in, I'm already finding myself super-attached to Eden's narrative.

If you're an Avenged Sevenfold fan, I 100% recommend this piece. I'm sure that like myself, you'll find yourself falling in love it. I can't wait to see where the author takes this story and how Eden's personal struggle ends.

Special thanks to Audrey T. and silent hearts. for editing!
