When one suffers a tragedy, the first instinct is often to run, to leave the unfortunate past behind. It seems easier to just get away and start over somewhere new. That is exactly what Baylee Jones does in The Alpha’s Angel’s story To Serve and Protect. This story is a fanfiction centered around the popular police-drama show Criminal Minds.

In this short but thrilling story, the main original character Special Supervisory Agent Baylee Jones is joined by the majority of the main cast from the show. The story is told in third-person narrative through Baylee’s point of view, giving the reader an objective and broad view of the events. The three chapters are written in a cohesive and easy-to-read format, which allows the plot to progress in a way that is much like the show: fast-paced and riveting. The story takes on a structure similar to that of a typical episode while also retaining individuality through the inclusion of the original character Baylee Jones and her compelling backstory, which draws the reader in and leaves them wondering about her past.
