Smile

Title: Smile
Author: maudaah
Type: Original Fiction
Rating: G

"We shall never know all the good that a simple smile can do."

The beautiful quote by Mother Theresa that maudaah uses as the description for her amazing original short story, Smile, could not be a better embodiment of the message behind the story. Standing at a complete 604 words, this drabble will make you reevaluate doing good for the people around you.

Smile is written entirely from the perspective of a nameless character that is bored with some aspects of their life, but still considers themself a person leading a rich life because of the good they do for others. The character knows that the things they do like helping an old woman across the street may never be known to the other people in their life, but that it doesn't matter.

This drabble discusses doing good simply for the purpose of doing good - something that gets lost very easily in fundraising competitions and viral videos for charities nowadays. maudaah conveys a fundamental, human truth, however in this story: We do gain things from helping other people, but they aren't material things, and that's the best part.

If you are looking for a story that will both brighten your day and make you feel a call to action to do some good in the world around you, Smile is perfect for you!
