Girl! Let me just say that the comment you left on the final chapter of What We Left Unsaid really did make my night -- not even 'pretty much'. It means so much to me to hear what was going through your mind and how you felt after reading the story and the epilogue, and I honestly don't think I could've wished for much more when I was writing the epilogue.
I'm glad to hear that the epilogue didn't make it immediately obvious what was going on. I was having a bit of a hard time writing it so that it stayed true to the characters without in your face being 'LOOK THEY'RE AT HER GRAVE!' So hearing that you had different expectations of how the chapter was going -- I'm glad I managed to do what I was aiming for.
And I'm glad the Zacky ending didn't seem too cliche, but that it actually managed to pull at your heart! Just because it wasn't a fairytale romance didn't mean that common ground was impossible or anything; for a few minutes, they even seemed to be getting there, sharing a bed and doing each other little favors, but I know that's not what you're talking about. It's hard to say how much could've been different, especially had Zacky had the chance to speak to her about it, like you said. Hell, had Ava's first words upon being thrown into the room with him been an explanation of how she didn't know, maybe that could've changed everything.
I won't stop you from holding on to the idea that she's not dead. I'll stop people from hoping that she'll be resurrected by witches, because that's simply not possible in this story's world and resurrections could open so many doors that need to stay so, so shut. But I won't stop you from hoping she's not dead, because I think crazier things have happened in this story. /shrug. But anyways, you're right, of course, that losing a mate is an extremely traumatic experience for werewolves. Hell, losing someone you've basically been around because of mutual friends for your entire life is traumatic, even if they essentially hated each other. (Brian made a point about Zacky being bored if she wasn't around, I believe?) The sequel will address all of this, I promise, and it'll warp up the loose ends with Drake, the sketchy documents, and everything else. Hopefully it'll be just as good of a read for you!
I'm glad the title makes more sense now, and I'm so happy to hear that you've really enjoyed the story from start to finish! I really can't explain how much that means to me to hear, or how thankful I am for you taking the time to share your thoughts and hopes concerning the story. Thank you ever so much!
+ And on a mostly un-related note, I thought I might point you in the direction of my blog, because I'm going to be choosing a few people to write a one-shot or so for before I start actively posting on the sequel. If there's anything concerning the characters from the WWLU universe (a what-if scenario, a scene from a different point of view) that you'd like me to write, or even any kind of a one-shot you'd like written completely unrelated from the story, you should let me know, and I might end up choosing to write about it. Or you can ignore this; I just wanted to give you the option. (:
and thanks again! those comments mean the world :')
