My poems tend to come out of a spur of the moment idea. But sometimes I'll start it and not like it, so I'll erase it and wait a few days. The idea will grow and I'll eventually write it down. Then I edit it and repeatedly read it to make sure it sounds alright. But a lot of the time I'll just be up at night listening to music and thinking, and I'll be inspired to write something.
