I have the exact same problem! I don't write het usually, I have one story, but it's really hard for me to write. I feel like it would be really awkward for my parents to read my slash, even though it's not a secret that I'm immersed in the gay community. I can't tell them when I'm writing something because they always ask me if they can read it, and I'm like 'uhhhh no, I'm not done yet, it has to be perfect *cough*excuse*cough*' I don't think you'd have to change the names, at least not Mark's. His name is kind of common. If you were to change their names maybe only change one of them? I don't know, I just feel like their names fit. Of course, legal issues and stuff, along with fanfiction not being very popular...If you really did get it published I would buy it and force all of my friends to do the same.

I don't usually read a lot of serious stories, and I don't usually read fanfics at all. So this is an extreme rarity. I confess, I didn't realize it was a fanfic until the last two updates I think. Yeah, after that I was like, 'Oh gosh I feel like a poser,' but it didn't matter to me because the story was just so well written. I don't know if your other stories are fanfiction, but if they aren't that might be why this one is less popular.

For the chapter maybe wait a day or two? I know when I'm reading a story that hasn't been updated in a while I don't get a chance to read it right away. And then if the updates are too close together I usually put off reading the story. I don't know if other people do this, but yeah..

I've only read the two stories of yours (I will be stalking the others soon, also I just realized I use parentheses a little too much, anyway), but they were both very different. Maybe because of the topics, but the religious one was kind of upbeat, while Mark and Shim are constantly serious. I think it's great that you have range because often I choose different favorite authors for different subjects, but with you I have it all!

On September 4 their latest album Bones, which was nominated for Best Album at the Kerrang! Awards last month, will be released in the U.S.
