Oh. Thought I should let you know. Today's Independence Day. I sat at home and played cell phone games, ignored the fireworks, didn't go out to the beach to watch them, and didn't know one of the patriotic songs on tv that everyone knew. I am the worst American ever.

But did you see what that person said on the contest page? I just really take offense. To that, not because of the whole "epitome of screwed up stuff kids write", but because that's ignorant and that she'd have the balls to say it to ME of all people. All that stuff is going on, you know? And it's all happening the moment I typed this out. Because self-mutilation? I used to do it, and it was so hard to stop on my own. I was only an 8th grader and I needed help, but no one did. I want people to help all those other kids after me because they needed help like I did. Do you embarrassing it is to turn down someone when they want to go to the beach because of scars all over my body? Or how embarrassing it is to try and avoid talking about why when I play volleyball my left arm has. angry, red marks all over it? Or people ask me why I like to wear so many bracelets. It just made me so angry when she said it was screwed up.

Sorry for being all emotional and depressing. I'm just so annoyed that someone can be so ignorant and think that what isn't screwed up is vampires or One Direction to come sweep you off your feet and have vampire babies or go touring across the world. If you want mindless comments about your story by people who really did not want to read it, then use the swap. I'd say try for a day or two and see if people react on their own. You can always use the swap days, weeks, months later. :)

I totally get what you're saying. I absolutely love it when, even if it's through comment swap, the reader actually GETS you, and doesn't just mention flawless/mediocre/non-existent grammar. It makes you feel all fluttery inside. It makes you want to write more. But sometimes the bad simply outweighs the good.
