Yeah, you can add salt and pepper, onions, basically whatever you want.
Just avoid snacking after that, basically. You might be hungry the first couple of days because you're used to a lot of carbs, and it might be hard to keep up, but you only have to do it short term.
Also, some people find they taste rather bad - aka my brother, even though he's just really whiny - but I find them okay tasting with salt and pepper and ketchup if you really don't like the taste.
