People only forget if they are willing to lose them. If you two want to still have contact, just talk. It shouldn't matter how far you both are, just the mere voice or message of them is all you guys need to keep going on in your friendship. And since you two share a very strong bond, don't let distance bother both of you. As long as you contact each other through phone, email, or anything of the sort, it'll be okay. People who have been friends for years are hard to break. ^-^. It'll be all right. Only when you think negative makes you both further apart. Yeah, it sounds sort of unrealistic and cheesy. But who knows? It might work out in the end, you know?
