I feel your pain. I used to burn my friends mixed CDs all the time in an attempt to expand their music taste, but I kind of gave up on that.

I do my best to connect with my audience.
I target my demographic, and I write it a little more mature.
I figure, if you're writing for a 13 year old, at least make it like you're writing for a 16 year old.
Older material usually intrigues them more. :]
It's nice to know people appreciate my writing style. ^^
Some people don't like it as much.
