Hey again. I've made an extended deadline for August 23rd. After that the contest is over and I'll be posting the winners. I hope you submit a piece! I'm excited to see what people came up with for their pictures.

Well...common sense will never be able to help avoid other peoples' hatred, and if they want to attack us they will and there's not always anything we can do about it. I just feel that we could have a substantial and more than sufficient military program without spending as much as we do. We need to make significant cuts. Not half, but there need to be cuts. And that goes for a lot of programs.

I wouldn't go THAT far.

I do think we need to make certain cuts to the DoD, but not as drastic as they're talking. I think we need to spend money on our military; however, I also feel that we're spending more than we need to, and making cuts would help make dents--however small and gradual--in the national deficit, or otherwise we could redirect those funds into programs like education (which is a struggling system) or social security (which may not even be available for our generation if something isn't changed).

I grew up in a fairly conservative household as well. I tend to have mostly liberal social views, and pretty middle-of-the-road (though slightly right-leaning) fiscal views. I tend to get annoyed by people who are too far to either end of the spectrum, but I firmly believe that both parties have good things to bring to the table. I just wish Washington wasn't so damn [i]partisan[/i], to the point where nobody wants to compromise. We're not going to get anything done that way. =/

What I support is kind of all over the place--hence the name "Scatterbrained," haha. I have some very liberal views, and some very conservative ones. Sometimes--like with Arizona's SB1070--I like to just play the devil's advocate about a really unpopular piece of legislation, just to make people realize there's more to the story than they are talking about, even if I agree with them.

I just haven't been blogging as much about it lately. I need to get into that. But I'm glad you've found it interesting. =) I'll have to start up again soon. I can't keep making excuses for not keeping up on my blogs. ><

Well thank you. =) I haven't been updating like I should. Especially the political blog. I've been debating taking it down, but then again I know if I do, immediately afterwards I'll suddenly want to blog about some event or another, haha.

It's always a pleasant surprise, though, to find that there are some people still paying attention to those blogs. Thank you. =)
