I think I have ten or twelve in mine to keep up with. Most of them aren't updated very often so it's pretty easy. Hopefully you can keep track of them. If I get to far behind I re-read everything.

I forget to check mine often too. I end up going through and either re reading them or clearing out my list because they aren't being updated.

That's usually my reason to. The stories I get when I do swaps are really good surprisingly. Each time i do one I expect to get one I won't like but them this amazing thing with a great storyline pops up. My subscription list is so full >.<
