I have no idea. One part of me thinks she just enjoys showing off to the rest of the class (she hasn't been the best of people to talk to since the quarter ended).

My bibliography has to be at least... eight sources? He wanted the first five sources, so I turned those in. I have like, nine books to read through to see if they'll work as sources over the break as well. I'm almost wondering if I can request a change from the psychological examination I wanted to do, just so I can examine Wilde's use of paradoxes and the sort.

I think it's impossible to understand this teacher! And you're doing NaNoWriMo for a grade?! OMG NO! Will you be given a bad grade if you don't reach the 50,000 word mark?

God bless her...does she enjoy prolonged, difficult assignments?

The first portion? How many parts does your bibliography have? Twitch

God, I adore Wilde...I don't understaaaaaaaand! Also! This was me when informed that I would be participating in NaNoWriMo for a grade: mrgun

And she's insane enough to do another senior thesis this year!

I actually just turned in the first portion of my bibliography today, the sources I KNOW I will be working with.

And I have no clue whatsoever how he could hate Wilde! I could be absolutely biased and say this teacher wouldn't know good literature if it smacked him in the face -but that wouldn't be true. XD

Ahhhh! That sounds interesting! Good for her on getting it accepted.

I'm glad that you can move ahead with your work. Sounds like you'll be busy! :) I'm working on doing some volunteer work myself.

Whaaaaat?! How can one dislike Wilde?! :0

She wrote on the level of dependency that each character had for each other. So... basically examining why Bella was a whiny and helpless child for most of the story. (Sorry for the late response)

He's one of my favorite writers too. He was such an interesting person, with a very amusing sense of humor. My proposal was finally accepted, so I'll be able to work on Dorian Grey, as well as look into Wilde's background. We examine the writer's background as to see what influenced the story and their other writing.

It was so sad... today my english teacher said he hated Wilde's work. :(

Thank you for your comment! Sidney really doesn't show up much. I've written the first 9 chapters and he's in one, so it should be fairly easy to keep on with the idea of an original fiction.

I'm so glad that you like our story! And the fact that you can relate to Stephanie really means a lot to me, since she's the character I write. :D I'll update later this week. Thank you for commenting!

I don't think I would...haha. What was her thesis about, anyway? Curiosity demands that I must ask...as for Dorian, he was a riot. I loved to hate him sometimes. No, I didn't know that Oscar Wilde wrote that, but he wrote a lot of things, so it doesn't surprise me much. Wilde is up there as one of my favorite authors of all-time.

Yeah, I'll be keeping an eye out, too. It's supposed to be her take on the story of Cupid and Psyche, and I'm curious to see how that will pan out.

I wonder if you'd be surprised if I told you she used the Twilight Saga as her thesis basis to see how the teacher would react. Anyways, Dorian Grey is one of my favorite too, actually. I absolutely loved how flowery the language was, and how amusing some of the conversations were. I couldn't hate Dorian... he made me laugh too much. And thank you! It's going to be a tough thesis, but I think it'll be fun. On a side note, did you know that Oscar Wilde wrote 'The Friendly Giant'? At least... I'm pretty sure that's what it's called.

I'm going to have to keep an eye out for her new book then. It'll be great to see what it will be like!

Wow...the Twilight Saga. It'd have to be long to be a fantastic thesis. Kudos to her for being able to read those awful books. On another note The Picture of Dorian Grey just so happens to be one of my all-time favorite books. Dorian was actually so horrible that he was endearing. I'll be rooting for you! :)

It's called The Sigh. I think it was written in a style similar to Persepolis and Embroideries. I found out about it through an article here on Mibba, actually.

She actually did her thesis on the Twilight Saga. At first glance, that seems like an 'euuugh, really?', but she formulated this fantastic thesis that went with it... as I said, the hero of my class. Just because she completely trounced the rule of using a classic for the thesis, and got away with it. I'm planning on doing my thesis on, "The Picture of Dorian Grey." I want to focus on a psychological criticism that examines how he slowly spirals into becoming a sociopath due to his narcissism. I still need to turn in the proposal though, so fingers crossed!

I didn't realize she had a new book out. I came across her story, 'Chicken with Plums' and that was really interesting. What is the new book called?

Hahaha, what was the book? And what book are you doing yours on?

I agree! My mom actually introduced me to Satrapi; I read Persepolis, Persepolis 2 and Embroideries in one night. I really can't wait to get my hands on that new book of hers.

It only has to be ten-fifteen pages long, but I had a friend whose thesis panned out to be about twenty-four pages. Of course... she also did her thesis on a book none of us thought would pass by the teacher... She is now considered a hero amongst us.

That's a really tough call. Both convey very powerful points and are just so meaningful. I did like how Embroideries was fashioned to seem like a conversation among friends, and I loved how Persepolis was so insightful. It really is a near-impossible call to make!

Oh nooooooo! *scared face* Don't diiiieeee!! My mom's thesis is ridiculous long, man.

I don't know what my favorite Satrapi book is. Embroideries or Persepolis.

I'll try to get time to read it, but I can't make any promises now that I'm beginning my giant thesis paper of doom.

Anyways, I did finish Embroideries. I just love the writer's voice and way of telling a story.

I completely understand the frustration. That's why I'm so glad that they created Comment Swap because anyone who actually just stumbles across a story and reads it, most of the time, they never leave a comment so you never know what they thought about it and with comment swap, you get to hear what they think (and if people are great enough, they point out the faults in what you've written and/or spelling/grammar errors).

Thank you for your comment on I Won't Give Up! I'm glad you enjoyed it, and me too, I really wish I could make it in a long story but unfortunately, I don't think I can. However, Hades/Fagan has been mentioned in my other story Intertwined and Wes & Annabelle will probably show up in it sooner or later. If you're interested, then that's where you can find some more of them (although not just yet). Again, thank you, it's always great to hear (or in this case read) what someone thinks about my story, good or bad. (:

It's more serious (and lacks pictures XD), but Infidel by Ayaan Hirsi Ali is another good book with similar themes. It's autobiographical, too.
