Did Ava know she was going to die? No, no. She didn't anticipate for Zacky to have been captured and then for everything to go down the way it did. No, she simply anticipated that there was a chance she wouldn't make it, what with Drake actively trying to kill her and whatnot. She wasn't pessimistic enough to have even expected it, but she was simply prepared for the possibility, and knew better than to have left the guys with nothing to help them.

The journal's contents will be revealed as soon as Matt knows, don't worry! He's not exactly known for keeping secrets in any of his point of view chapters, after all!

And I'm glad you enjoyed the witch! I had a fun time writing him. (:

Yeah, if there's one thing that I always try to do in any of my stories, it's making it as realistic as possible. The last thing I want is for everything to be just peachy for the characters because life isn't like that. If I'm going to get even one person to truly connect with the story, I figured that was how it would have to be.

I want the people who read my stories to get involved in the character's lives. I want them to be someone that they could see in real life. It could be a family member, a friend, that person you work with that absolutely can't stand, or maybe even themselves that the character reminds them of. I want you to be able to be empathetic with them and feel what they feel.

At least I know that I'm half-way achieving this =D

Haha, Team Ava can definitely still exist in this story, don't worry. After all, at the very least Brian appears to still be Team Ava. xD Plus, you know, we've got plenty of things to find out about that she was involved in, so there will definitely be a time for taking sides. (Documents? Fifty million? Who knows what else?)

I'm sorry to break your heart with the first chapter, though! I know it's hard to see Zack so... miserable. Pitiful, really. I know, and believe me, it was super difficult for me to write him that way, but it is what it is. At least he's not chipper and perfectly fine with her being gone, right?

And I'm glad you can understand Bri's actions; I was worried he'd be pissing off a lot of people even though he has his reasons and everything. (For crying out loud, he did tell Zacky that if he didn't do anything right then to help Ava and she got hurt, he'd never forgive him and blahblahblah...)

But yeah, those fights! Some of this might be addressed in the future chapters, too, but I see no harm in answering your questions. No, Zacky isn't doing anything to antagonize Brian or start a fight. Remember how out of the way and quiet he was in the epilogue? Zack's pretty much constantly like that. Bri starts the fights between them, and while I wouldn't say constantly, it does tend to be most times they end up in the same room as each other, or whenever Bri's feeling particularly hateful. Zack stays out of the way, though, for the most part.

I'm sorry that the story had to break your heart! (And I know it was a very sad Team Ava day!!) But it had to be that way; it's something I had been planning since day one. I'm glad to hear that the part about the 'small granite rectangle' gave you goosebumps, though! I was hoping to make the epilogue not too obvious until the very end, but still gentle enough to ease people into the idea.

And thank you for answering all of my questions! It means the world to know that the story did affect you, and that you liked the writing style (even with my confusing openings and closings at times xD). Seriously, thank you so very much!

I hope to have the first chapter of the sequel posted any minute now. I mean, it's short, because that's how I do my first chapters for whatever reason, but it's something. /shrug.

It does, it does. Although... if he had snapped out of it and lead everyone in there to where she was, that could've resulted in everyone being caught in the explosion... so, there's kind of a pro side to all of this, if you look at it with squinted eyes. xD

But hey now! I did not make anything blow up. Drake did. I can't be held responsible for the actions of my genius evil villain.

I do promise that I'll have the epilogue up either tonight or tomorrow, so you definitely won't be waiting long for it! And, hey, the cliffhanger could've been much worse if I'd just ended the story there. xD

Just... don't be too hard on Zacky for not immediately switching points of view and believing everyone, alright? You've just got to remember that this is something that's really hard for him to deal with, and it's more than a lot to process. We're talking about something that truly devastated him when it happened, something that he's spent more than ten years rebuilding from, more than ten years living with and truly believing he knew exactly what had happened. It's something that changed his outlook on pretty much everything, and has certainly ruled the way he's behaved around Ava, the way he's thought about her. It's really not the kind of thing he can 'snap out of', despite how important it was for him to do just that. It's not like you get a sudden lightbulb moment and realize that everything you've ever believed has been a mistake, everything you've ever seen proof of. It's hard, is all I'm saying.
