Saying that, then the fact that he's used other witches to find it, wouldn't work. Unless other people have used them and it hasn't worked? Oh, what about if other vamps have hired witches etc. but they've never managed it, always been caught and then tortured until they give up the name of the vamp that hired them, who then gets killed??
Love that she's the daughter of someone powerful, who's underestimated because she's a trouble maker and everyone's always saying she's immature, but maybe actually she's not the fake persona she's created? Maybe she acts like a childish rebel because it protects her? Maybe she's actually rebellious, yet wise and more intelligent and in control than people give her credit for, but she pretends to be a young rebel/spoilt brat because she was taught never to trust people? Maybe her powerful ancestor was a parent or relative that she was close to, that was killed/betrayed? Which has made her careful?! I don't know if that' work. But either way she's got to be a bit of a badass!!

I'm gonna write it out to work it out :)
So he tries to steal her soul/shadow.
She wants revenge, she wants her soul/shadow/aura?! back
She tracks him using a spell, but it tracks his heart, (maybe he leaves a drop of blood that she uses?), which isn't in his body and is instead with the man who hires him and has trained him into a soul stealing creature.
When she goes to find him (actually the heart), she gets herself caught by his boss.
Maybe he finds out she's there and goes to talk to her to find out A. how she found him (no one's supposed to be able to find his boss's house?) and B. what on earth she plans to do next.
Maybe she convinces him to want his freedom? She can see a spark of free will left in him, so plays on it, only trying to save her life/her soul/shadow.?
Something bad then happens to him, or to a friend of his, which pushes him to his breaking point and so he agrees to help set her free, so that she can get his heart for him (which is kept in a magically protected vault or something?!) and in return he promises the return of her soul.
However, it doesn't quite go to plan.......??? Would that work?

I love her as a hell raiser! And magic takes such control...that's be why she's underestimated as the daughter of someone powerful. But wouldn't be have to be a bit of a rule breaker too in order to enlist help to get his heart back?

Yes! I love that! - Maybe he's tried all different kinds of creatures, sprites etc. - But maybe she's not plain witch? - Or she's a descendant of someone powerful, but it was always underestimated? And I'm thinking that their personalities should clash? - Maybe she should be quite morally correct all the time and not like breaking rules or something? Or the total opposite, and he's the one that won't break rules, because his race are taught to follow their commanders or face the consequences? Where as she's a bit of a hell raiser when she wants to be???!

Exactly. Like the spell used to track him follows his heart instead of his body, he'd already be looking for it too, since he can sense when his heart has been moved. He wants it back so he can get his freedom from his boss back. For some reason I imagine he recruited several witches before her that failed. He'd be cynical of her helping him

Yes that sounds good. Or starts tracking him, but ends up tracking his heart.......rather than him? Maybe he left it somewhere sacred or important to him and knows when it's been disturbed, or she gets herself into trouble looking for it (thereby using the hired aspect), when she founds his boss has it, and she ends up caught, he finds out, realises they could use each other, he'll give her soul back, if she can get his heart back, style?

Yeah the hired hand thingy might get too complicated, but we could work with the 'no love' aspect of it if we really want to incorporate the heart removal. That could even be how our main character ends up in the vampire's underground level? Maybe she develops a twisted bond with this guy after he takes her soul, so while she's tracking her soul she finds out about his heart and wants to help him? But it backfires in some way... Maybe the hired hand thingy wouldn't be that complicated after all in that sense.

That's what I'm thinking! - I think we could get a lot from it....but I like the idea of the heart removal - Maybe he doesn't have a heart (as he took it out), so therefore "cannot love" OR he doesn't have a heart because he's just a hired person and his creator/sire/boss has it? - That way he has something to hold over him and make him steal soul/shadow for other people? I don't know, that may get too confusing though?! :)

My writing has changed significantly but that's because I took classes in college and joined this writer's group. I'm learning how to do that 'show don't tell' thing in writing more and more. I see how yours changed too, but you're right, it hasn't changed too much. I guess all writer's change as they mature with life?

As for the idea... for the twist... I started a story about vampires that were harder to kill because they cut their hearts out in order to survive, but I never finished it because I didn't know where to go with it, so that could be a twist if you want to use it? But I adore this witch/shadow-soul vamp idea. That could be fun. And a vampire stalking a girl to feed on only to have her kidnapped...to save her or not--that tis the question! I don't think I've seen anything like that before. Swoon I think we can hammer that out into a brilliant story with so many twists and turns XD

    OR,
    (inspiration hit me)
I've been toying around with the idea of doing a witch-based story. How about we incorporate both? Either vamp hires witch or witch hunts vamp.

Or I've also (too many ideas, too little time), I've also been considering doing a story based on two 'levels' i.e. human level - where we are. Underground level - where the undead live. Maybe the vamp (who could be soul/shadow vamp instead of blood?) goes up to feed on human (via portals located around town i.e a magic shop? And that appears in crazy places in the world like photo booths or changing rooms), and the human he feeds on fends her off, so she goes looking for him - she's a cop or just someone who's smart and a survivor/writer?!(weird twist to throw in), who goes hunting for him and ends up in a place filled with creatures she couldn't imagine existed, she manages to offend the wrong person and before you know it, he's got to either save her or sacrifice her?! Or something?! - Then maybe we could each write a view point?
    I don't know! (I'll be quiet now :D ) x

Ha! I think we have.....ha never mind! :) I always considered lulu, but never took the plunge! I really dislike that publishing houses won't give new authors a chance...I feel like they're missing out on so much potential!

Pack Wolf is new, I started writing it ages ago, but I keep adding pieces every now and then! I feel like my writings changed, but not quite enough yet! I like how you write, for example the beginning of lunacy, the description is really emotive!

I've had my sony laptop for a couple of years now, it's lasted quite well actually, but the cooling fan is beginning to go, it crashes often and it has a habit of switching itself on and off during the night. . . which is horrendous when it wakes me up at 4am!

My sister's kinda OK, she had an operation to remove 4 teeth this week, but it got infected so she couldn't really move her jaw! So she had an appointment to see what they're gonna do next!! It's always something with my family! ha!

I really do love Lunacy, it's quite dark, especially as at the moment it involves children, (creepy children scare the hell outta me!), I can't wait to see where you take it!!

Do you know I don't remember us having a magazine? Maybe we did back then ? I'm not sure! There's a lot more these days! I think we did all keep each other here, if there's notifications it was something to come back for! I'm the same in that I didn't really get any 'real' contact information from anyone, and because user names change etc. it makes it really hard to find people that you used to know!!

I love learning too and because I didn't know what I wanted to do with my life, I kept swapping courses etc. when I was doing my A-levels, so I didn't end up with as many qualifications as I wanted! So I'm hoping that by doing these distance learning courses, it'll make up for it! I've decided that if I'm going to go to uni, I'll know for sure once I've finished my exams. I can't see 18 months into the future, so I don't know if it'll be right for me or not by then! - I'm taking each day as it comes and all that cheesey-ness!

Yeh if a kid started calling me "mama" then I'm out of there! Not my cup of tea, I can see why they'd be more effort!!

I was thinking it should be a twist on normal vamps.....I feel like it needs a hook - it has to be different, something we haven't seen done with vamps before... - I think i'm going to read through some of my random pieces of writing i've done and see if I get any inspiration! I'm not feeling particularly awake tonight! (then again it is nearly 11:30!) Maybe rather than making it about human turning into a vamp...maybe a vamp finding a way to turn human....or literally just do vamp vs. vamp, rather than buffy style human vs. vamp OR different Kinds of vampire.....though I'm not sure what I mean by that..?! - Does any of that make sense?! ha!

Haha I think we've taken up most of your comment wall with these comments :). Sorry I just love that fact for so many reasons. But I tried lulu. It made my book look more like a magazine and I only sold like 2 copies with it, but it's about the same as Publish America. I hate that traditional publishing won't give new authors a fair chance without paying a ton of money that we don't have first. It's annoying.

I like your new stuff! At least what I read of it. Pack Wolf is new right? But yeah, I don't want to get the whole fan fiction v. original fiction war they had going on in the blogs section going again, but I just don't get the appeal. Other than it brings you new fans, but most of them don't read original fiction. It's a vicious cycle I guess.

I had to get a new laptop the year before last because my HP finally died and wouldn't revive. So, now I have a Toshiba... and hopefully it lasts for a long time or at least until I invest in an external hard drive. I'm sick of saving everything on flash drives. But I hope you enjoy Lunacy, and I really hope your sister is okay?

I think we were all holding each other here and then the alerts stopped so the rest of us just stopped? Maybe? I don't know it's kind of sad though. There's a lot of people I wish I could catch up with, I guess I should've gotten everyone's emails or facebooks or something to keep in touch. The changes take a bit of getting used to, but they're actually pretty neat. Like the recommendation feature in stories and blogs lets your friends see the stories you like and the stuff that interests you, and if you need a book suggestion just go look in the books section. Did we always have a magazine? I think that's pretty neat too now that I know about it :).

I loved college. Then again I'm a huge nerd who loves learning way too much. I met a ton of interesting people, and I'm thinking about going back to get qualified in computers since that industry seems to be big right now, but like you say...It's a huge commitment involving a lot of time and probably a few loans for me.

Subbing is interesting. Most people say that the little kids are easier, but for me they're too sensitive for me, and touchy. They will come hug you all the time...and this one kid started calling me 'mama'. Yeah, just, no. That didn't work for me.

I wonder what we can do with Vampires that hasn't already been done? OR at least how can we make what's already been done different enough that it interests readers.

I've considered publishing on demand before - I think you can do it through a site called lulu? I never know whether to or not, but I did publish Angel Elite as a kindle book on amazon....it's sold a few but didn't catch on really! I haven't heard of DIP publishing, but I know that I get e-mails every now and then about different 'publishing packages' that you pay anywhere between 2-10k to get your book published, it's so hard to get a traditional publishing offer these days! - But I'm still aiming for it . . . ! - I think first I need to write something that I know is good? - If that makes sense? I'm my own worst critic and I want to be proud of it!

I think re-writing is over for me, for now - I'm just going to keep writing new stuff, though my external hard drive is full of beginnings of stories! I've never really been a fan of fan-fics... I don't know why, I just, I guess a bit like you, didn't really get it. Yet aside from the Annoying Vamp series, I think it's one of the most popular ones I've written on here! The audience for it is crazy!

My laptop has been playing up for ages, but I keep hoping it'll get better . . . I then started reading lunacy again today on my phone when I took my sister for a hospital appointment, but she got back quicker than imagined, so I've just re-opened it now and I will read it properly! (Finally!!)

I think you're right that most of the older members left and never came back, it was weird, it's like we all left at a similar time, don't know what caused it though! - Coming back now it's like another world - I was never really into the forums either, but it seems like they now play a major part in the site....it's a different place, but I guess change is good. . .!?

Moving out was lovely, in the sense that I had the chance to be more 'independent' but it's incredibly hard to enjoy your 'freedom' when you can't afford to! - I'm considering my next move in life now, I'm currently doing some extra qualifications and I'm considering going to University...but my mind seems to change every day at the moment, it's quite a big commitment now!

Subbing at least sounds interesting, at least you get a bit of variation! - And I'm actually surprised that older kids are easier to teach! - I always thought that younger kids would be simpler, as I guess they're a little bit less......'independent' ..... I'd always imagined teaching older kids would be a bit of an up hill battle.....I remember how I was at 14/15/16. . . ha!

I think you're right about avoiding wolves for now. I feel like everything I write these days tends to have an aspect of wolf to it! I'm up for a vamp story though, haven't done one in a while! - Brainstorm it is then! - I guess we need to work out the plotline! :)

I did publish on demand. If I could find a decent subsidiary publisher I might be willing to put up a little but definitely not 10k. I think you did the right thing saying no to them. I got approached last year by this publisher, DIP Publishing, on another website. Writer's Cafe. The guy I talked to seemed nice enough but I never looked into it because I didn't have anything ready to go besides the Maddie stories. I don't want just anyone to publish though, you know? But be patient. Stephen King's writing career didn't take off until he was almost 30... plus you could always send letters to magazines maybe they'd run some of your stuff?

I wanted to Vincent's story so bad! But the plot stuff turned on me too. I got I think 4 or 5 chapters of it posted before I quit. Maybe I'll try again this summer. Haha! Finally, someone who gets how reluctant I am toward the fan fics! This user Lokison., she used to be ClaraZombie (I don't know if you guys ever talked, but she commented a lot on the Maddie stories) asked me to help her work out some ideas. All of which were about the Avengers and Loki.. She sort of talked me into a Tony Stark story that turned into a Bruce Banner story... It's weird and I don't even know how I came up with the plot line anymore, but people keep reading it? I'll never stopped being amazed that people actually like my writing!

I'm sorry your computer crashed through Lunacy! That's so wrong of it since Lunacy is my favorite story to write right now. :(. But yes! :D It was one of the Angels stories! Kegan was the ruler of vampires or something like that? And mibba has changed a lot! All the updates to the website. I think most of the older writers took breaks and never came back. I remember being so active, except for in the forums, I've never been big into those too much.

Money is the root of all evil, as the saying goes. I wish I would've tried living on my own, but every time I thought of moving out I backed down because of the money I needed for tuition. I started out trying to go for Creative Writing at a 2 year school and got my associates but then I was going to have to transfer...the two year school was so much cheaper than everything else and they had a new program that offered two 4 year degrees, so I signed up for it, got accepted and went for it. Ended up graduating a semester early.

Subbing is an experience. I work in my county which is 3 different sets of schools. Elementary, Middle, and High School. Believe it or not, I like working with the older kids much better than working with the young ones just because they take less energy and actually listen! Unfortunately it's just call as needed, so I don't work unless someone is out sick.

Don't worry about it :) I could be sitting around here with nothing to do, and I always did like answering questions and talking to everyone! But we should definitely brainstorm. I think we'll have to leave werewolves out though since you're writing Pack Wolf and I'm in the middle of The Last Wolf. It's been forever since I've done a good vampire story.

Hello! - Now I'm the one that took ages to reply - i was sleeping - I forget that we're still on a different time! :) Sounds like your publisher was good to start out with - at least it got it published, but yeh must have been frustrating! - I would have loved to accept the subsidiary publishing offer, but I couldn't afford the 10k price tag! It's still an aim of mine, to get something published, but it becomes less and less likely as the years pass!

I found that at first it was great to re-write old stuff, because they're your favourite and you have so many ideas that you left out in the first place, but I find it kind of stifling knowing that there's certain scenes/plot twists that you have to stick with! - I remember the Vincent story! - Yeh he was the 'original'! - And a fan-fiction! - Never thought I'd see the day that you'd write one of them!! (Although I'll admit, I caved and did the same a year or so ago....It looked like fun). I actually started reading Lunacy yesterday, but as is my laptop's prerogative, it crashed half way through.

Yes I did put Kegan in my story! One of the Angel sequels I think! - I used to love those days, I feel like Mibba's changed alot since a few years ago I was a consistently active member. But great - maybe we can brainstorm some ideas??

Money apparently makes the world go round, which is why it's really difficult when you don't have enough! - I moved out into a rented house early 2013, and it drained my finances like nothing on earth! - After 6 months, swiftly moved back in with my parents to get myself back on top of my money...

And wow, bachelor's degree in Liberal Arts, you really have been busy! - Did you know what kind of career you wanted? Or was it a subject you loved? Substitute teaching sounds interesting though - I'm guessing it's normally different schools each time? At least the money's good!

Christmas was crazy for me too, a mixture of illnesses, drunken relatives and arguments, it made for entertainment!! - Sounds like yours was just as hectic! - I'm glad it's over too, but I enjoyed having some time off work and my sister was back from Uni, so it was nice to catch up! (Hadn't seen her in 3 months).

Yes, apologies for the 20 questions, ha! - You're right there is a lot of catching up to do - it really has been ages!

Sorry it took me so long to get back to you. I had to go pick up meds for this sinus infection I have.... But anyway. Publish America (my publisher) doesn't offer advertising or anything. It doesn't work with retail bookstores like Books-A-Million or Barns & Noble. It was free to publish with them, but I think I would've rather paid a little bit for the retail stores to work with me. My advice on publishing, which was actually given to me by some really cool older ladies I met last year, is be sure to do your research on the company before agreeing to anything.

I tried rewriting the old stuff. I was going to start off with Vincent's story, you remember the guy that was like Kegan's so many great grandfather...like the original vampire (I think), but it didn't take off. I'm trying to write a fan fiction if you can believe it, after I was so against them. And I'm doing a co-write with a girl I went to College with. You should read it if you get a chance. It's called Lunacy.

But I'd love to write with you! I remember you put Kegan in a story once :) which I loved reading. I know the money needing feeling. I couldn't find a job anywhere around, even after I graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Liberal Arts then I stumbled upon substitute teaching. I'm not a big fan because I really don't want to teach, but it offers good money, it'd be ideal if it was a full time job.

Christmas was insane. So many family problems and craziness. I'm so glad it's over, but it was good to see all my cousins and aunts and uncles. How was yours?... Did I manage to answer everything? :) There's so much catching up to do!

I'm glad you're still writing. I do miss the old Maddie stories!

I took a year or two out from writing, I started to post old stuff that I'd written ages ago, but it wasn't the same! I'm so glad you got your book published! And that you're starting another one! - I now tend to start writing and then stop after a few chapters............
I'm still on here occasionally, I've been writing something new recently which I'm going to post today, but I now don't tend to be on here unless I get a notification about anything!

I've now finished school & sixth form and then got a place at University to do a degree in creative writing and then at the last minute, decided not to go to uni, so now work full time and attempt to entertain myself by going on holidays as often as possible - which is great - until you realise that to do that, you tend to need money . . . . ! Ha :)

So what's wrong with your publisher? 'Coz you hear horror stories.....I tried to get one of mine published, but was only offered a deal that meant I had to pay 50% of the cost, so said no! :( What're you doing now that you've graduated? Did you have a good Christmas? And hey, if you've got time at the moment, I'd be up for writing something with you, if you'd be interested?

It has been years! Way too long!!

Life is good. I graduated from college and I'm not a big fan of my publisher but I'm getting my book, A Beautiful Lie, out there anyway. I took a year off from writing and suddenly all my old friends like you and Morphus were gone :(. Or I thought you were. I'm working on another book now with a writers group I joined and I started posting stories here again.

What about you? Are you still writing? What've you been up too?
